In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}José Buenaventura Durruti Dumange has been influenced by anarchism since his youth. Like his father, he worked as a mechanic in his hometown of León, and like his father he also joined the Unión General de Trabajadores. Durruti saw with his very eyes the brutal repression that proletarians were subjected to by the wealthy, evolving to more radical views for which he was expelled from the Unión soon after.
Following these events, he came into contact with the Confederación National del Trabajo, a then blooming organization of anarcho-syndicalists. Related to the terrorist group Los Solidarios, he was forced to flee to Latin America after the police drew links between their organization and several bombings and bank robberies across the country. In Argentina and later Chile he would continue his life as an outlaw, committing the first bank robbery in the history of the latter country. Durruti returned To Spain after the proclamation of the Second Republic and quickly aligned himself with the Federación Anarquista Ibérica sector of the movement, who opposed cooperation with the Republic and insisted the need to maintain a constant struggle with authority through terrorism.
Internal tensions came to a breaking point, and the faction who advocated an understanding with a united leftist block left the CNT forever. The FAI-CNT, as it became known from then on, would slowly discover itself to be completely enchanted by Durruti's charisma and legend. Durruti has unknowingly crystalized a personality cult around himself that has ironically been useful to advance the anarchist cause, side-lining his opponents and solidifying his authority over the militias.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Abraham Guillén Sanz has become one of the most quoted and influential theorists within the FAI-CNT, and for a good reason. His superb research on economics and guerrilla warfare helped the Revolution immensely, as he shaped the disorganized volunteer militias into a feared fighting force ready to strike at any moment. Guillén didn't limit his work to intellectualism, and he also fought as a foot soldier and later became a full-time political commissar.
His theories, however, are at times viewed with scepticism at best and suspicion at worst by many members of the movement. Guillén has clamoured time and time again for a system alien to the Malaparte-influenced status quo. Mixing Proudhonian mutualism with his own theories on so-called anarcho-marxism, he advocates for a bottom-up stateless republic. Free of the slavery of German bureaucracy and of capitalist tyranny alike, this new Federal Republic, would promote free trade and competition among localized unions. These unions would, in turn, be represented along regional and national councils.
A genuine believer in Pan-Iberian nationalism and proudly sporting an idiosyncratic ideology, the brilliant theorist has become the face of the CNT, taking advantage of the chaos and uncertainty that the FAI dominance caused. Now at the very top of Iberia itself, Abraham Guillén might prove to be the renovator, or the assassin, of anarchism.

Ángel Pestaña

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}Ángel Pestaña Núñez was, like his comrade Durruti, a native of León. Born into a poor family and orphaned at a very young age, Pestaña toured Spain and France for years as a migrant worker before settling in Algeria. There he saw the start of the Great War, and decided to dedicate himself fully to anarchism, writing for the CNT-FAI weekly Tierra y Libertad.
In 1923 he would gain great relevance and respect within the movement, as he was the confederate envoy to travel to Berlin and draw up a report on the situation. His document was decisive in marking the irreversible break between anarchism and communism in Spain, as the CNT would choose not to collaborate with the International. However, Pestaña is by no means a radical. He was the head of the faction most predisposed to collaborate with other movements and take legal routes as frequently as frenquently as possible, which led him to confront the faista faction that still advocated the continuation of terrorism and secrecy during the Republic. Pestaña, disappointed, split from the already renamed FAI-CNT and founded his own platform, dubbed the Partido Sindicalista.
Pestaña, now again relevant after the Spanish Revolution, has a chance to reach the top thanks to a great coalition of "pariahs" of anarchism that has materialized around him. This alliance is, however, weak, and the diplomatic anarchist turned General Secretary must know how to maneuver in a delicate situation that might prove fatal for Iberia and for the very ideal of anarchism itself.

• Bait the Dog: Nitti's initial focus tree involves rebuilding Italian society, cleaning up its internal problems and equalizing various parts of the country while fighting organized crime. His second focus tree involves anti-colonialism, striking down racist laws and offering full citizenship to every part of the Kingdom's oversees territories, mass military reforms, and full enfranchisement of the population, culminating in the Federation's transformation into a full republic with the king's willing abdication. Then, after Nitti has spent such a long time making himself likable, it turns out that his struggles against accelerationism and socialism have hardened him, that a boiling temper was waiting under his seemingly calm surface, as he unveils his Fifteenth Point and the final branch of his focus tree, where Italy, having been reforged by his reforms into a potent war machine, begins the mass conquest of all the authoritarian and/or socialist regimes of first Europe, then the entire world, in an effort to forcibly defeat what Nitti sees as the enemies of liberty on the field of battle rather than waiting for them to "inevitably" come to him.
• Foreshadowing: During Nitti's initial speech describing his platform after election, his Fifteen Points, a reporter in the audience thinks that he only counted thirteen or fourteen. This is because, twice, his focus tree opens up new branches, culminating in his Fifteenth Point; proactive military invasion of much of Europe.
• Hypocrite: With a stunning lack of self-awareness, Nitti enforces his own idea of liberty on other countries by waging massive wars to subjugate them (and in some cases, outright annexing them into Italy), no matter how democratic Germany^note unless it's led by Popper, who can ally with Nitti and France actually are. He can also easily end up in a dust-up with the United Kingdom, whether because he picks a fight with someone they're guaranteeing or simply because he considers their brand of colonialism just as bad as the accelerationists, socialists, and reactionaries he fights.
• Knight Templar: Nitti genuinely believes that he's liberating Europe from the tyranny of accelerationism, reactionism, and socialism (no matter how good or bad his targets actually are) when waging his massive wars of conquest that will likely lead to millions of deaths. In his defense, many of his targets can indeed potentially be fairly brutal regimes, and by the time he does it he will have already fought off at least one attempt by the League Solar to help the accelerationists in Fiume take over the rest of Italy.
• A Lighter Shade of Black: Although a bloodthirsty imperialist, Nitti is the among the most moderate of the various leaders who seek to conquer Europe, as he only wishes to protect so-called liberty and combat what he perceives to be 'radicalism'. Instead of building totalitarian dictatorships like fellow would-be conquerors, Italy will instead build a Treaty of European States consisting of liberal puppets.
• Politically Correct Villain: While Nitti has many anti-heroic qualities, racism isn't one of them. He solves Italy's crisis in its African possessions by treating the natives with respect and guaranteeing their religious freedom, ensures they all enjoy full citizenship while repealing all racist laws to ensure all Italians are equal under the law, and part of his eventual fanatic crusade is anti-colonialism.
• Precision F-Strike:
  • A few points further down his second focus tree involve steadily more profanity, such as describing the Italian army as "fucking pitiful. Just fucking pitiful," at the start of the military reform section.
  • When Nitti reveals the final point in his 15 Points program, journalists notice that his everyday restraint and moderation are gone, replaced by a furious determination, as he proclaims:
  For too long, the forces of reason and liberty have sat idle in this poor, benighted continent. Brutally emasculated by defeat after defeat, by a slavish attachment to peace and civil order, we liberals have failed. We have all failed, and look at the consequences! Fucking madmen squatting in Paris, violating our great city, the beating heart of the Revolution! Damned commies tread on the bones of Frederick, Goethe, Blum, and the heroes of Frankfurt! Everywhere liberty is outraged, equality is perverted, fraternity is despised. This will not stand!

Officially known as "the Italian Regency of Carnaro and Upper Dalmatia," this country is the incubator of political Futurism and the starting point of Accelerationism as a modern political philosophy. The former Austro-Hungarian city of Rijeka was established as a "Free City" on the Dalmatian coast to help solve the border disputes between Italy and Yugoslavia. However, Gabriele d'Annunzio saw this capitulation of ancient Italian territory as a massive insult to the Italian soldiers who had lost their lives in the Great War, and on the 11th of September, 1919, led an attack with several hundred armed followers and easily conquered both the city and its environs, with the end goal of having the new state annexed into the Kingdom of Italy. Due to a combination of d'Annuzio's massive popularity with the Italian public and near-simultaneous socialist and Accelerationist revolutions in Hungary and Yugoslavia respectively, the Italian government saw Fiume as a useful buffer state and let it become d'Annuzio's personal plaground. Fiume has become a haven for artists and political theorists the world over, being a bizzare democratic, corporatist, and localist chimera of a nation that perfectly showcases just how mad the world has gone since the Great War.

In-Game Biography ^{Click to Show}When Pope Ignatius was to be ordained priest in his youth, the ordination cards he distributed to friends and family simply read "Eugenio Pacelli, Roman". In truth, there is no better way to describe him. Hailing from the so-called black nobility allied with the Holy See since time immemorial, his clan has served God's representative in the Eternal City as bankers, lawyers, and priests long before the unification of Italy. The turbulent times that the Papacy went through after the war marked Pacelli deeply, especially the fierce rivalry between Church and state and the complex diplomatic ties that interconnected Europe like a spiderweb.
Educated by the Jesuits, after whose founder he took his papal name (despite never being a member of the order), Pacelli's meteoric rise through Church hierarchy due to his talents as a canonist and energetic youth caught the eye of Cardinal Pietro Gasparri. Soon to be Pope Bonifatius X, the two became allies in the intricate Leonine politics, and Pacelli would even reach the highly coveted posts of Cardinal Secretary of State and Papal Camerlengo, essentially consecrating the duo as the true hands that held the reigns of the Catholic Church. Bonifatius X sent his trustee on numerous occasions to foreign countries as nuncio and legate, and to him the Catholic Church owes key diplomatic victories such as the concordats with Germany and Italy, the latter of which gave birth to the current Leonine City.
Bonifatius X's soul departed in 1934, but there was no doubt about the future of the Church. The conclave and the Holy Spirit chose Pacelli as the next Archbishop of Rome, and it was natural they did so. The controversial but efficient meddling with worldly affairs was ultimately a success, and few complained beyond the most reactionary among traditionalists. His canonical stance was more moderate than Gasparri's reformism, appeasing more collaborative conservatives within the hierarchy.
Only two years later, world peace hinges on a precarious balance that is sure to be undone. The Pope must have eyes on the bellicose French and Germans, the unstable Italian democracy, the brewing violence in Slavic countries, the Latin American chaos, and even face against against the Church's seemingly waning influence in the modern world. After an entire lifetime preparing for this very prospect, Ignatius the Roman is more than ready. To be Servum Servorum Dei is to keep a flock safe, even if you have to hunt down wolves to do it.
