  • The Alcoholic: Many mistakes and humiliations from the past have turned Churchill into a depressed alcoholic.
  • The Caligula: Churchill is the insane, apathetic ruler of Uttar Pradesh, permitting the use of gas every time a general asks. The United Provinces (and its leader) are seen as a bloating corpse, still walking around because its factories still produce chlorine.
  • Deadly Gas: Churchill has become obsessed with the idea of gassing native Indians to keep them in line. Originally intended only for troublemakers, chlorine's application grew broader and broader, until eventually it was a nearly de facto fact of life that rebellious behaviour would be rewarded with a chlorine strike. The smell of chlorine has been burnt into the minds of the people of Uttar Pradesh as the symbol of Churchill and his tyranny.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: The Democratic and Steady paths will invariably lead to the death of Churchill and the collapse of the United Provinces, with the only exception being empowering the progressives in the Democratic path.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In order to prevent the Indians from rising against him, Churchill can install a democracy, where every man has a say in his own destiny.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: In OTL, Churchill absolutely had racist tendencies (during the Bengal Famine, he infamously claimed it was caused by the overbreeding of the Indians, and even called them "beastly people, with a beastly religion" at one point). That being said, his racism was usually paternalistic, seeing colonialism as necessary to aid in the "uplifting" of "primitive" peoples, and rejected genocidal racism. While he did suggest using gas on revolting tribesmen, he only recommended the use of non-lethal tear gas because he believed it would put down the rebellion without bloodshed. He was also one of the loudest denouncers of the Jalianwala Bagh Massacre, and even unsuccessfully demanded to put the perpetrator on trial. Here he can gain "enlightenment" and start a genocide of Indians with lethal chlorine gas and turn the survivors into his slaves. To put it into perspective, the developers have compared him to real life Adolf Hitler.
  • Karma Houdini: Should Churchill take over all of India, the British will insist on a state visit, resulting in the horrors of his rule becoming known to the British leadership. The British can reluctantly keep Winston as Lord Admiral, turning a blind eye to his crimes.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Should the British government choose to depose Churchill after learning the horrors of his state, he will be swiftly arrested and sent to London to face trial for his crimes.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Despite him gassing the Indians and potentially creating a totalitarian hellscape comparable to Congo Free State, he is nowhere near as bad as the Avatar, who intends to outright destroy the world.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: If he chooses to install a democracy, Churchill is forced to realize just how horrible the things he's done are.
  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: If Churchill finds 'enlightenment' from reading books on race and ruling, he might decide that Indians are subhumans that need the strong hand of British civilisation to guide them. He'll start crushing nearby Indian warlords to prove British supremacy and forcing Indians to speak English, abandon Hinduism, and look to Churchill as the sole leader to guide India towards unification. He'll consign labour camps for dissenters, bullets for protestors, and much worse for those who actively fight Churchill.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: After his humiliating defeat at Gallipoli, Churchill was quietly withdrawn from service, and soon after the war ended, he was put to work in Kurdistan. After his men fired upon and killed 157 civilians in what would be called the Mahabad Massacre, he was sent to India to do paperwork.
  • Reassignment Backfire: When the British government tasked Churchill with governing Kurdistan, their reasoning was 'well, he can’t cause much damage there!', only for him to instigate the Mahabad Massacre. He was then demoted to a mundane bureaucrat in India, but his charisma and ability to speak to the leaders with a passion got him more and more attention until the Raj collapsed and Churchill got himself a fiefdom in Uttar Pradesh.

  • Church Militant: Kali's priests are on the front lines, preaching and declaring their love for her as they kill.
  • Eviler than Thou: One of the Avatar's first acts after seizing power is to eliminate what remains of the British colonists in India.
  • A God Am I: Maximiani Portas declares herself to be the living incarnation of the Hindu goddess Kali.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: Maximiani Julia Portas (also known as Savitri Devi Mukherji) was a French woman working as a spy for the Nazis in British India during World War II, a neo-Nazi activist after the war until her death in 1981 and one of the biggest influencers of Nazi occultism by incorporating elements of Hinduism. In Red Flood, she's a cult leader masquerading as an Avatar of Kali, the Hindu Goddess of destruction.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: The Avatar of Kali sees it as her holy mission to annihilate the world, to bring about the new cycle. Himsa is the true embodiment of Kali, of destruction and hurt and suffering that so marks this era of Kali Yuga, declaring that harm is the way to accelerate forth, to go forth, to bring about reality anew.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Maximiani Julia Portas' real name is never actually used in-game; she is only known as the Avatar of Kali, or the Avatar for short.
  • Rape, Pillage, and Burn: Kali's soldiers are granted full permission to steal from every house, every village, every city, to plunder without mercy.
  • Sadly Mythtaken: Even pointed out In-Universe. Portas's understanding of Hinduism is... surface-level, to say the least. While the mythological Kali is a goddess of power and destruction, she is only a destroyer of wicked and evil forces, and her destruction leads into the creation of new life. In fact, many sects of Hinduism consider her to be Brahma (i.e. the will of the universe itself) in its purest state. This is far from her interpretation of Kali as an Omnicidal Maniac bent on destroying the world. Not that her followers really care.
    • Even more egregiously, Kali seems to have completely confused the goddess Kali with the demon Kali, with whom the Kali Yuga, the degenerate stage of Hindu cosmology in which the world is said to be in, is actually associated. To make matters even more face-palmingly painful, actual Hindu literature states that the Kali Yuga will end in the year 428,899 - definitely not within Portas' lifetime.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bangladesh3.png
