The League of Villains

     General
  • Adaptational Badass: There are six competent members from the get-go, not including All For One and Dr. Ujiko.
  • Criminal Found Family: Despite being Villains with plans of tearing down society, they all care about each other as if they were a real family.
  • Equal-Opportunity Evil: The League's roster includes the usual powerhouses one would expect a supervillain team to have, but also invites foreign scientists, androids, and children into their ranks.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Most of the members are uncomfortable with a young child in their ranks.

     All For One

??? Shigaraki

Quirk: All For One

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/afo_8.jpg

The Symbol of Evil and the Arch-Enemy of All Might, as well as the leader of the League of Villains.

  • Adaptational Badass: in canon, he was never shown at full power, always crippled in some way. As of Chapter 6, he’s fully healed and back to his prime, meaning he’s MUCH stronger.
  • Benevolent Boss: He is grateful for Jester healing him and keeps track of his inner circle’s social calendar, encouraging them to live and have fun.
  • The Dreaded: Even crippled and near death, he is feared and respected by all who see him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Even for a self-admitted 'Quirk-a-holic', All For One realizes that there are some powers that are just not worth having. For example, he once came across a Nuclear Meltdown Quirk and promptly destroyed it, knowing such power had no place.
  • Killing Intent: Unleashes this on Katsuki to cow him into submission.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives one to Katsuki, destroying his ‘main character’ delusions, pointing out how basic his Quirk actually is and how a generation ago, he’d be seen as a villain his whole life.
  • Satanic Archetype: Katsuki outright compares him to a demon; speaking honeyed words in a fatherly tone while only seeing those around him as tools or Quirks for him to take.
  • Worthy Opponent: All Might of course, but one Daiki Midoriya seems to be one for him; considering he’s kept an eye on the Midoriya Family since before Inko was born.

     Dr. Daruma Ujiko

Kyudai Garaki

Quirk: Life Force

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kyudai_garaki_anime.png

All For One's confidant, best friend, personal doctor, and right-hand man.

  • Always Second Best: To Daiki Midoriya, whose Autoscorers make his Nomu look like Preschoolers and who was (initially) far more well-known and respected as a scientist.
  • Evil Mentor: To Zoomania, Venom Root, and Obsidian.
  • Mad Scientist: He’s the creator of the Nomu and one of the only three men alive who comes close to Daiki Midoriya's genius.

     Tomura Shigaraki

Tomura Shigaraki

Quirk: Decay

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tomura.png

The apprentice of All For One and one of the two acting leaders of the League of Villains. His Quirk, Decay, allows him to rot and decay anything he touches, either living or non-living.

  • Adaptational Intelligence: He voices his concerns to All For One about what kind of Quirks he gave Katsuki, whereas in canon he would take any kind of upgrade without care.
  • Amazon Chaser: He seems to be crushing on the Four Forces quartet, mostly because of how strong and skilled they are.
  • An Arm and a Leg: When he tries to attack Mina through one of Kurogiri's portals, Niles makes the Warp Villain lose his focus, making him close his portal...and take Tomura's arm with it.
  • Depower: Niles takes away his Quirk, leaving him functionally Quirkless.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He cares about his fellow League members, especially his older brother-figure, Jester.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed. He was against Hanoma joining due to her youth but this changed when he learned that through Miss Ponyville, she has legit villain experience.
  • First Time Feeling: After losing his Quirk, he realizes the plus side to no longer having it meaning he can touch people without ever having to fear about killing them anymore. He is brought to Tears of Joy at being able to touch Radio and Hanoma and hold their hands.
  • Skip the Anesthetic: Chugai and the doctors refuse to allow him this while he's recovering from losing his arm as punishment for setting Bakugo on Izuku and Momo.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: He says to Katsuki that he admires his work in bullying Izuku and consequentially destroying Aldera Junior High for enabling him. Understandably, Katsuki does not appreciate these words.

     Jester

Kyofu Yoi

Quirk: All For One

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jester_3.png

One of the two acting leaders of the League of Villains alongside Shigaraki. A mysterious man with ties to both Izuku and Katsuki.

  • Arch-Enemy: Tragically, Izuku, the boy he wants nothing more than to make amends with for accidentally scarring, becomes this to him.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Is legitimately surprised Overhaul somehow eclipsed Katsuki as his most hated person.
  • Big Brother Mentor: To Tomura, both of them being co-leaders of the League of Villains.
  • Cool Big Bro: He's shown to be nothing but supportive of Tomura, which makes sense considering he was a former daycare attendant.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He's revealed to be the daycare attendant who tried to use his Quirk to help Izuku when his Quirk awakened prematurely, which resulted in his burning and scarring. This caused Jester's family to be sued by the Bakugou Family, which resulted in his parents disowning him as he was rendered homeless, jobless, and scorned by the public. He was almost planning on committing suicide before All For One found him and took him under his wing.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He and Mime are happily in love with and support each other. He also cares about his fellow League members as if they were his family.
  • Friend to All Children: Comes with having been a former daycare attendant. Any harm that comes to children is a surefire way to earn his wrath.
  • Hero Killer: When he attacks the Sports Festival, he easily slaughters many minor Pro Heroes without breaking a sweat.
  • Power Parasite: He has a near-perfect copy of All For One, which he uses to take away Overhaul's Quirk when the League brings him to their hideout.
  • Practically Joker: Not only is his choice of attire telling but the way he tortures Katsuki by beating him with a crowbar is exactly the same as what Joker himself did to Jason Todd. His face unmasked even looks like a mix between Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix's portrayals of the Clown Prince of Crime.
  • Red Right Hand: Taking off his mask reveals him having 'Sad Clown' face paint as well as a grotesque Glasgow Grin.
  • Villainous BSoD: The sight of Izuku, the boy he long ago accidentally scarred and holds immense guilt over doing so, at the USJ causes him to have a panic attack.

     Mime

Shizukana Maimu

Quirk: Mime Magic

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mime.png

Jester's love interest. A mute girl who, for obvious reasons, stylizes herself after a mime.

  • Cute Mute: She's quite attractive and she does not speak, fitting her choice of style.
  • Enemy Mime: She's a mime and she is affiliated with the League of Villains.
  • Morality Pet: Downplayed. She keeps Jester from killing Katsuki due to All For One wanting him alive.
  • Odd Friendship: She's best friends with Clown, being overjoyed to see her join the League.
  • Shout-Out: Her Quirk can be considered one to The Mime.
  • Unholy Matrimony: She and Jester are both Villains but also happily in love with each other.
  • Your Mime Makes It Real: Her Quirk obviously allows her to manifest anything by pantomiming it.

     Katsuki Bakugou

Katsuki Bakugou

Quirk: Explosion, Regeneration, Impact Ignition

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bakugo.png

Izuku's former childhood friend turned bully whose reckless use of his Quirk in their childhood played a part in Izuku's scarring. His Quirk allows him to create explosions with his nitroglycerin-based sweat.

  • Born in the Wrong Century: Inverted. All For One explains that if he had been born a century earlier, he'd have been labeled a future villain instead of being praised as a future hero.
  • Break the Haughty: He starts out just like he did in canon; treating everyone as extras in his story and bullying Izuku for being too weak to handle his Quirk. Then his bullying is exposed, costing him the love of his aunt and uncle AND getting him blackmarked from every Hero School in Japan. Then his popularity goes downhill and he is kidnapped, beaten by, and forced to join the League of Villains.
  • Extremely Protective Child: He ends up submitting to the League when they threaten to kill his parents, showing that, for all his faults, he does love his family.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Jester considers burning him to near death to be this. Even though Izuku manages to save him, he's practically crippled for life.
  • Forced to Watch: Tomura makes him watch a Nomu rape Overhaul in order to drill into his head the fate he'll suffer if he steps out of line.
  • Heel Realization: As he lies in the hospital bed after nearly being burned to death by Jester, he realizes how much he failed as a human being and a hero wannabe. This is compounded by the realization that Izuku always WAS better than him as a person.
  • Lack of Empathy: He sees Izuku as being too weak to handle his own Quirk instead of feeling bad that his reckless use of his explosions played a part in scarring him.
  • Man on Fire: The League of Villains outfit him with a collar that they tell him is to help regulate the additional Quirks All For One gave him...but it actually contains a special oil-like substance that engulfs Katsuki and forces his Quirk to go haywire, practically immolating him.
  • Token Good Teammate: 'Good' is stretching it, but he's the least 'evil' of the League of Villains.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: When Shigaraki praises him for ruining Aldera, not aware Katsuki never meant to do such, he doesn't take it well.

     Chugai Chisaki

Chugai Chisaki

Quirk: Puppet Strings

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mom_98.jpg

Eri's Mother. She had left her daughter in the care of the Shie Hassakai after her Quirk accidentally killed her father upon its awakening. She is the new head of the Shie Hassakai after Overhaul's defeat.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: She outright abandoned Eri in canon. Here, she still loves her daughter and only left her with the Shie Hassakai because she needed time to grieve the loss of her husband and thought Overhaul had enough decency in him to take care of a little girl.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Downplayed. She has enough sway in the Shai Hassakai that most of the members will follow her to the League of Villains, especially with the powerhouse Rappa supporting her.
  • The Baroness: She is a beautiful and fearsome woman, although she doesn't use her sex appeal as much.
  • Cain and Abel: The Abel to Overhaul's Cain.
  • Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: Zigzagged. She needed time to grieve the loss of her husband and trusted the guardian she left Eri with. When she learns how Kai failed in this regard, she arranges for Eri to be rescued.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: She NEVER liked Overhaul, seeing him as her father's 'charity' project, The whole debacle with Eri confirms all her thoughts.
  • Mafia Princess: Yakuza Princess, actually, but otherwise the trope is still in effect.
  • Mama Bear: She orchestrated the events that doomed Overhaul because of his treatment of Eri.
  • Master of Threads: She can produce and manipulate puppet strings from her fingers in a manner akin to Donquixote Doflamingo.
  • My Greatest Failure: Leaving Eri with Overhaul.

     Kendo Rappa

Kendo Rappa

Quirk: Strongarm

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kendo_rappa_mhoj2.png

A former member of Overhaul's Eight Expendables who defects and swears loyalty to Chugai out of disgust towards Kai's actions.

  • Blood Knight: He used to be an underground cage fighter before being scouted by the Shie Hassakai. Even now, his lust for battle has not faltered.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He never approved of what happened to Eri, but Overhaul was stronger than him, so he followed anyway. Thankfully, Chugai manages to help dispose of Kai and free Rappa from his control.
  • Ship Tease: It's possible he and Chugai have some feelings for each other judging by their interactions.

     The Gambler

Rakki Unmei

Quirk: Pit Boss

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dice_8.png

A member of the League of Villains with a charming streak and one who enjoys the thrill of the game above all else.

  • A Rare Sentence: Is shocked to find that he agrees with Tomura in any regard.
  • Expy: Of King Dice. His mask being a giant dice block only makes it more unsubtle.
  • The Gambler: His Quirk allows him to weaponize all sorts of gambling tools such as dice, cards, poker chips, slot machines, roulette wheels, and more in order to create a variety of effects, including manipulating probability.
  • Sadist: He enjoys seeing Katsuki being humiliated and cowed into joining the League, along with a Nomu raping Overhaul
  • Smug Snake: He's quite arrogant when he steps in to fight and even callously mocks Kaizo for losing his Quirk to Jester.
  • Winds of Destiny, Change!: One of the applications of his Quirk allows him to manipulate probability with the roll of a die.

     The Chef

Ryori Souma

Quirk: Killer Cuisine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/chef_8.jpg

A once critically acclaimed chef who now works for the League of Villains. His culinary skills have not faltered even in his new occupation.

  • Food-Based Superpowers: His Quirk allows him to create any food-based weapon he desires which acts just like the real weapon they are based on. If he wills it, he can also control those who have eaten his cooking.
  • Papa Wolf: Has children and grandchildren of his own, so he above all members of the League is disgusted by Overhaul the most.
  • Shout-Out: His Quirk can be considered one to Kung Food.
  • Supreme Chef: The Team Chef for the League, and is skilled enough that even when making a dish out of durians, garlic, and a skunk, the others admit they'll probably still like it.
  • Team Chef: Serves this role within the League. It's literally his moniker.

  • Cool Aunt: Mina seems to think so. Izuku and Himiko also look forward to seeing her.
