Main Characters

    Callie

Callie / Guillotine

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/callie_miss_guillotine_1.png
The protagonist of the comic. Once a regular, albeit bullied, high school girl, the abuse that she suffered at the hands of the magical girls which culminated in her sister's death pushed her to become Guillotine in order to seek revenge.
  • All Your Powers Combined: Upon achieving her true magical girl form, she grants herself all the powers of the deceased magical girls to take on Terrie.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Callie has black hair and eyes and is the only major character to have such a normal color scheme.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Her perpetual look, even during her brief moments of happiness.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Starts with long hair, cuts it short when she returns to school under a false identity and it's shown to be growing out to her shoulders again by the end of her story.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Callie was considered nothing special even among the regular high school students before Julie's death. Afterwards, she becomes a manipulator, kidnapper, and murderer in order to carry out her revenge as Guillotine.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: She starts out wearing stereotypically nerdy glasses and removes them as part of her shift into becoming Guillotine. Oddly, she never mentions actually needing them to see and seems to do just fine without them.
  • Go Out with a Smile: She brightly smiles as the magical girls from other cities arrive to take her down following Terrie's execution.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: She's stated to be the tallest girl in her class, and of the regular characters, only Chloe seems to be taller. She's also noted to be pretty strong and is capable of physically holding her own against the magical girls when powers aren't in play.
  • Madden Into Misanthropy: The society she lives in idolizes magical girls and thus enables those magical girls to get away with bullying and even murder. As one of the magical girls' prime targets, of course Callie goes off the deep end.
  • Meaningful Name: The guillotine is an execution instrument famous for being used in the beheadings of nobility during the French Revolution. Callie herself explains the symbolism late in the story, but the meaning is obvious enough to those familiar with the object before that.
    • She also picks the name Julie when returning to school under a false identity in order to make the magical girls uneasy.
  • Parental Substitute: To Julie, after their parents died.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: The entire comic is Callie's rampage against the magical girls for how they treated her and her sister.
  • Slasher Smile: Sports one of these when doling out her "punishment."
  • Suicide by Cop: After killing Terrie and stripping Sarah of her magical girl powers and making her the new Revelator, Callie allows herself to be killed by the magical girls from other cities who come to take her down when Peace City has no magical girls left.
  • Then Let Me Be Evil: Her despair over the fact that the magical girls are still considered paragons of goodness and justice despite their crimes leads her to declare this, signaling her full descent into Villain Protagonist territory.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Callie never catches a single break. First her parents die, then she's horrifically bullied, then her sister dies, and her revenge brings her further tragedy even if it also gets her temporary satisfaction.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: Her Guillotine costume is a Type B.
    Julie

Julie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/julie_miss_guillotine_1.png
Callie's younger sister. She survived a plane crash in their childhood that killed everyone else onboard, including their parents, and is a huge fan of magical girls. After she sees Hailey bullying Callie and starts standing up for her sister, however, things spiral out of control and Julie ends up dead, which ultimately inspires Callie to become Guillotine.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Given the conflicting viewpoints at work, Hailey might not have meant to kill Julie initially. Either way though, their fight resulted in Julie's death and the rest of the plot followed.
  • Big Good: Deconstructed. She thought she was this, using her abilities as the Revelator to create magical girls out of people that she thought had the right personalities. However, her judgement of others' morality is deeply flawed, and her own black-and-white view of morality leads her to kill Jina and then gets Julie herself killed when she tells the new magical girls that she is going to strip them of their powers because of their behavior. Even her last act, passing the power of Revelation onto Callie, just leads to more suffering as Callie uses it to kill the magical girls in revenge.
  • Big Sister Instinct: She's the younger sibling, but she is shown to be very protective of Callie. Though her first appearance establishes that she is a big fan of magical girls, her true Establishing Character Moment is her brandishing a knife at Hailey's lackeys as they try to lure Callie out of the house to torment her some more.
  • Broken Pedestal: Clearly happens when she witnesses Hailey tormenting Callie, causing her to turn on the magical girls that she idolized. And it's happened before under the same circumstances, when she realized how badly Jina was treating Terrie. Both examples end in someone dying as a result.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Julie wants to create magical girls who stand for the kinds of justice and virtues that she believes in, and she repeatedly and almost without fail picks the worst possible candidates because she judges people by appearances and in part due to Terrie's manipulation, but that's another example of her poor judgment gone bad.
  • Lack of Empathy: Played around with a lot regarding Julie. She really does mean well and she hates to see people get hurt or mistreated, but she has absolutely no way to read a room and tends to take everything at face value. It's not until things get really, really bad that she finally understands how horrible a situation truly is. Terrie became the Big Bad explicitly because Julie not only made Jina a magical girl, but her utter lack of understanding someone else's emotions only makes things worse.
  • Poor Communication Kills: When she was granted the power of a Revelator, the woman giving it to her made her promise to never tell anyone about it, presumably in an effort to protect Julie from people who would use the Revelation for their own ends like Terrie ends up doing. She ends up keeping almost everything about her personal life from Callie, and doesn't ask about Callie in turn until it's too late for either of them to fix things. If they'd been honest and open with each other, Julie might not have died.
  • Posthumous Character: She's dead when the series actually starts, but she appears very frequently during flashbacks throughout the story.
  • Sole Survivor: Julie's love of magical girls began when she was the only survivor of a plane crash that killed her and Callie's parents as well as all the other passengers. It's implied that magical girls saved her somehow, and that this is what inspired her to be such a big fan of them. It's later revealed that there was a Revelator on the plane who passed her powers on to Julie in order to save Julie's life.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Almost everything Julie does unintentionally leads to someone getting hurt. First she created the magical girls and enabled Jina to bully and harass others. When she "fixed" that by creating the situation that led to Jina's death, the two good magical girls resigned. Then she fell prey to Terrie's manipulations and ended up creating a new group of even more unsuitable magical girls, allowing more bullying to run rampant and target Callie in a cycle that eventually led to Julie's death and Callie's revenge plot.

Magical Girls

The protectors of Peace City and idols of their high school.

Tropes that apply to them as a group
  • Asshole Victim: All were complicit in covering up Julie's death as well as Hailey's bullying, and it's hard to feel sorry for the consequences.
  • The Beautiful Elite: Deconstructed. The girls are all hailed as attractive and flawless, but their lives prove to be anything but charmed, and most of them are horrible people on top of that.
  • Calling Your Attacks: They call their transformations as well.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Illuminaty Beauty is red, Aqua Prussian is dark blue, Coil Gold is yellow, Sweet Ifrit is orange, Mind Heart is pink, Ice Blue is pale blue, and Campanula Platina is purple and white.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: The Awakening, which is triggered by the magical girl having to overcome extreme fear or hardship and gives her a new form and more powerful abilities.
  • Personality Powers: Played with. Some match, like Sue having water powers and being the calmest and most levelheaded of the girls while Chloe has electric powers and is more hot-headed. Sophie tried to invoke this by asking for ice powers so she could stay detached and distant from the problems of others. Others were granted their powers specifically because of the contrast, like Shrinking Violet Sarah being given the power of judgment and justice.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Hailey, Chloe, Terrie, and Sophie all get noticeably longer hairstyles when powered up.
  • School Idol: All of them to some degree, though Hailey and Terrie are the biggest examples.
  • Smug Super: With very few exceptions, the magical girls of Peace High like to flaunt their powers and the status that it gives them, fully believing it makes them better than others.

    Hailey

Hailey / Illuminaty Beauty / Michelle

The magical girl of beauty. Considered the most beautiful and popular girl in her class at Peace High School, Hailey is also a vicious bully who can't stand anyone standing up to her or getting more attention than her. Julie's death at her hands kicks off the plot.
  • Alpha Bitch: The comic's first and one of its biggest examples. She's the de-facto leader of the magical girls and the girls at her school, and she uses her position to torment anyone who crosses her.
  • Beauty Is Bad: It's almost framed as though she became evil after she became beautiful, in fact, though it's also implied that she was always this way.
  • Berserk Button: Being reminded of Michelle, actually Hailey herself, back when she was fat to the point of being enraged when people just see pictures of her, even if they don't know the context of said pictures.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: She's set up as the main antagonist to Callie after tormenting her at school and murdering Julie, but she's the first of the magical girls to die and things really only kick off after that.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Just about everything she does to other people is over minor sleights, such as Callie refusing to passively take her name-calling or Kayla just getting attention for being pretty. When other students make admiring comments towards Callie for standing up to Hailey, Hailey's immediate solution is to plot to murder her, and she does murder Julie for threatening to take away her powers as a magical girl.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She feels that she deserves to treat other people like dirt because she's beautiful and protects the city from monsters. She can't comprehend it when anyone defends themselves or others against her bullying.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: She's beautiful and the public loves her, but she's petty, selfish, cruel, and constantly plots to hurt others just for things like getting the attention that Hailey feels she is owed.
  • Femme Fatalons: Both as a magical girl and in her regular form, she has long red nails that she often scratches others with when they make her mad.
  • Foregone Conclusion: The comic opens with people finding Hailey's dead body hanging outside the school, and the first part of the story is dedicated to How We Got Here culminating in the obvious result.
  • Formerly Fat: She was chubby in middle school and was consequently humiliated when she was chosen as the magical girl of beauty when she didn't consider herself beautiful. She ended up getting major plastic surgery and changing her name before she would show herself to the public, and anyone even hinting that they know about her unattractive past will set her on a path to destroy them.
  • Flower Motifs: Roses, but also poisonous flora according to Word of God.
  • Green Thumb: Her magical attacks turn her enemies into flower petals and otherwise incorporate flora.
  • It's All About Me: Just having other people pay attention to you instead of paying attention to her is enough to send Hailey into a rage. She makes it clear that she doesn't really consider the other magical girls friends so much as props to make her look good, and she doesn't have a drop of empathy for anybody that she hurts.
  • Meaningful Rename: Her name was originally Michelle, and she changed to Hailey after revealing herself as Illuminaty Beauty. It's never explained if this was a legal name change, if Hailey is her middle name, or what.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Achieves her Awakening and begins to transform just in time for Callie to get a noose around her neck and cut it short.
  • Proud Beauty: Hailey is proud of her looks. She is widely regarded as the most beautiful person in Peace City and she uses this to her advantage.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Her eyes are naturally red, and she is a horrible person.
  • Teen Idol: Hailey is treated by the media as an idol and is constantly modeling for photo shoots and promoting the latest products. She is only a senior in high school and she has already made more money than most people in their whole lives.
  • Weight Woe: Hailey was originally very overweight and spent a fortune on extensive plastic surgery to make herself thin and beautiful. The idea of anyone finding out absolutely terrifies her, and Callie uses this to torment her. It doesn't help that she received her powers as the magical girl of beauty when she was still fat, as she thought it made her a joke.
    Sue

Sue Lee / Aqua Prussian

The magical girl of water. A star student as well as a talented athlete who strives to be the best at everything she does, but she doesn't seem to really get along with the rest of the magical girls.
  • Academic Alpha Bitch: In contrast to Hailey's more traditional Alpha Bitch, Sue excels in class and even states that her hobby is "collecting medals" by being the best at everything.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Immediately drops all pretense of dignity and begs for her life when Callie is about to electrocute her. She also tries to threaten Callie with her father's riches and power, but for naught.
  • All There in the Manual: Her surname is was supposed to be Park, but the author forgot, so it became Lee.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: She seems set up to become the new main antagonist after Hailey's death but she is easily dispatched after Callie unlocks her powers as a Revelator.
  • Blackmail: Sue attempts to blackmail Callie with the knowledge that she's Guillotine, threatening to expose her. Given that Callie's already on a quest to kill the magical girls, including Sue, it doesn't work out in Sue's favor.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Sue has blue hair and blue eyes in her magical girl form.
  • Elemental Rivalry: With Chloe. While you'd think Chloe would have the upper hand due to having electricity powers while Sue has water powers, Sue once beat Chloe so badly in a fight that it gave her a phobia of water.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: She was jealous of magical girls for seemingly getting their powers through sheer chance so much so that she murdered her friend in a fit of rage when said friend told Sue she had received a Revelation.
  • Kick The Son Of A Bitch: Does this to Chloe by constantly mocking her for the phobia of water that Sue herself caused. Takes it further after Chloe's fight with Callie by taunting her and then drowning her in the pool while Chloe is paralyzed.
  • Klingon Promotion: After murdering the original magical girl of water, Julie gave Sue her powers in order for her to "make up for it" though this obviously didn't make Sue a better person.
  • Making a Splash: She can breathe underwater in addition to controlling it.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Chloe's red.
  • Rich Bitch: Her family is noted to be extremely wealthy and powerful, and Sue isn't above using their influence for her own self-serving ends.
  • Slasher Smile: Has one when she kills Chloe and later again when she admits to it.
  • Smug Snake: In addition to being a Smug Super, Sue is manipulative of others and believes that she can outwit everyone in order to come out on top.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Always pushed herself to be the best in an effort to get her parents to acknowledge her.
    Chloe

Chloe Song / Coil Gold

The magical girl of lightning. A hot-headed, foul-mouthed, and violent former swimming star whose bad attitude is somewhat informed by having to give up her passion. Has a particular bone to pick with Sue due to their contrasting personalities and powers.
  • Accidental Murder: During her confrontation with Callie, Chloe zaps what she thinks is Guillotine only to discover that it was one of her friends whom Callie had knocked out and tied to a pole. Callie's comment suggests this was fatal, though it isn't brought up again.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Chloe is the only character in the cast who is obviously dark-skinned, though it's never mentioned in character. She has a Korean surname like the rest of the characters, and taken alongside her blonde hair and sporty clothes, her appearance may be more of an indicator that she is part of a fashion subculture like gyaru than one of ethnicity.
  • The Big Guy: She's the tallest and physically the strongest of the magical girls, as well as having the most volatile temper.
  • Death by Irony: A former champion swimmer granted electricity powers, she dies after her powers backfiring on her leaves her paralyzed, and Sue throws her into the school pool to drown.
  • Elemental Rivalry: With Sue.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Her disgust at Sue using her water powers to cheat in swimming competitions, unlike the other athletes who actually worked hard. Cheating in general seems to be the only thing that Chloe takes moral opposition to.
  • Expy: She's a dark-complexioned woman with light hair and lightning powers, bringing to mind Storm of the X-Men comics. Her Awakened form looks even more similar to Storm.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Always seems to be in a bad mood and won't hesitate to yell insults and throw punches at the drop of a hat.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: The tallest person in the main cast.
  • Jerk Jock: Chloe prides herself on her athletic prowess, and she's more of a traditional jock bully than her Alpha Bitch friends.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Sue's blue.
  • Shock and Awe: She can summon electricity to attack her foes, though she herself is also vulnerable to it if she gets wet.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: A fight with Sue that went very badly for Chloe left her with a phobia of water, forcing her to give up swimming, and Sue loves to remind her of it. She Awakens by overcoming this fear when facing a monster.
    Terrie

Terrie / Sweet Ifrit

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/terrie.png
The magical girl of fire. Terrie mostly acts as an accomplice and confidant for the other magical girls, though she privately expresses a desire to hurt those who cross her.
  • Alpha Bitch: Becomes this when she and Sarah are the only magical girls left at Peace High.
  • Big Bad: Terrie turns out to have manipulated Julie into giving her powers as well as choosing the rest of the magical girls for her own reasons, ostensibly to make up for the suffering Terrie endured at Jina's hands and to buy her silence over Julie's role in Jina's death. She gleefully leads the other girls to their ruin and even manipulates Callie into sparing her and being her ally for a time, making her the person most responsible for the pain everyone else had to go through as a willing instigator in contrast to Julie's Unwitting Instigator of Doom.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: One of the biggest examples in the whole comic.
  • Curtains Match the Window: She has orange eyes and orange hair.
  • Cute and Psycho: Terrie may seem like a cute magical girl, but she expresses the desire to kill those who cross her or the other magical girls and intimidates Sarah into not speaking up about Julie's murder. She's eventually revealed to have been the Big Bad thanks to manipulating Julie into giving the wrong powers to the wrong girls.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Terrie starts with Boyish Short Hair and grows it out to curly pigtails when she becomes one of the last two magical girls and the new school idol.
  • False Friend: Turns on the other magical girls easily and was manipulating them into ruining their lives the whole time.
  • Hypocrite: Was terribly bullied in the past, but she gleefully engages in the same kind of bullying now that she's a magical girl. Callie points out that she does the same thing in fights, taking any advantage that she can get but then crying and saying that the other person is mean when they get the upper hand.
  • It's All About Me: Just like Hailey, Terrie feels entitled to get what she wants and treat others badly because she's a magical girl, and because she previously endured severe bullying. She doesn't care at all that she's putting others through the same sort of thing that she went through.
  • Manipulative Bitch: The first time this clearly comes through is when Terrie orchestrates a Wounded Gazelle Gambit on Hailey's part to make it look like Kayla was trying to hurt her, in order to get Kayla out of the spotlight. It eventually turns out that Terrie was behind most of the events of the plot as The Man Behind the Man to Julie and others.
  • Never My Fault: Blames everyone else's problems on their own actions and refuses to acknowledge her own role in it, even when she's actively encouraging others to act against their best interests.
  • Playing with Fire: She has the ability to summon flames.
  • Smug Snake: Like Sue, Terrie is manipulative and underhanded, and she generally believes that she'll get away with whatever she does.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Terrie went through bullying as bad as what Callie went through to the point where she wanted to kill herself, until Julie intervened.
  • Traumatic Haircut: It turns out that her short hair was originally a result of Jina giving her one of these.
    Mint

Mint / Mind Heart

The magical girl of love. Mint is one of the younger magical girls, in the same class as Terrie. Like Terrie, she's more of a hanger-on to the direct bullying and is mostly motivated by the crush that she has on one of her teachers.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Mint specifically asked to be granted mind-reading powers, under the reasoning that it would help her get closer to the people she likes. She didn't think about how she'd deal with having to read all the inane and cruel thoughts of everyone around her, every day.
  • Blessed with Suck: Her powers are the most detrimental to her in day-to-day life out of all the magical girls.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Gets insanely jealous when she is led to think that something might be going on between Callie and Mr. Park, which causes her to spread vicious rumors about them in an attempt to ruin Callie's reputation.
  • Driven to Suicide: After reading Mr. Park's mind and killing him either in self-defense or just because she had learned the Awful Truth about him, she jumps off the school roof to her death.
  • Enemy Scan: Her heart-reading powers allow her to analyze enemy monsters in order to discover their weakness.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: Mint is often shown with heart shapes in her eyes when she uses her powers or when she is obsessing over Mr. Park.
  • Hot for Teacher: Mint is infatuated with her biology teacher, Mr. Park, and most of her actions are motivated by this.
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Her powers after Awakening allow her to read the minds of people around her, but it happens against her will and takes a lot of effort for her to make it stop, which leads her to get sick and collapse in the hallway when she gets overwhelmed. It also lets her read her teacher's mind and realize that he is a child molester, leading to his death and her suicide.
  • Technicolor Eyes: Her eyes are bright pink, both in her regular form and her magical girl form.
    Sophie

Sophie Cheon / Ice Blue

The magical girl of ice. She comes across as distant and doesn't want to get involved in drama, but the people she associates with get her wrapped up in it anyway.
  • All There in the Manual: Her surname, Cheon, is only revealed in the author's notes between the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2.
  • An Ice Person: Sophie has the power to freeze enemies solid.
  • My Friends... and Zoidberg: Sophie gets the least attention of all the magical girls and seems to be excluded from the group sometimes, though this might be by choice. It's later revealed that she was literally chosen at random by Julie to become a magical girl just because Terrie thought they needed a full squad.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The reason she refuses to get involved in other people's personal issues is because in the past, when she tried to intervene in bullying, it ended up destroying her friend circle as the girl she tried to help didn't believe her and the one she told on felt betrayed. It's implied that one member of her friend group may have committed suicide over this.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Sophie finally breaks her old promise to never get involved in the troubles of others again and comes to Sarah's rescue when Callie and Kayla have her cornered. Though she and Kayla mortally wound each other, Sophie expresses happiness that she decided to take a stand for a friend before she dies.
    Sarah

Sarah / Campanula Platina

The magical girl of justice. She's shy, quieter, and friendlier than the rest of the magical girls, but she is often criticized for standing by and doing nothing both when they defend the city and when her so-called friends mistreat others.
  • Big Good: She becomes the new Revelator by the end of the comic, having empowered Bori as the new magical girl of Peace City and doing a much better job than Julie did.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Her costume in her Awakened form gains a black dress and veil instead of her usual white and purple, but she is dedicated to using her powers for good.
  • The Ditherer: Sarah's biggest issue is that people accuse her of being a hypocrite because she doesn't do anything to stop the bullying and other behavior that she disagrees with. Sarah later clarifies her lack of action isn't because she's scared to act, but because she's scared of potentially making a situation worse and doesn't want someone to get hurt due to her. Sarah eventually gets over this and becomes Raven Campanula, and later the new Revelator, because her sense of justice is revitalized and she stops being afraid.
  • Grew a Spine: Sarah, after finally deciding she needs to do something instead of fearing she'll only make things worse. While she's not able to stop Terrie or prevent Callie's death, as the new Revelator she's able to guide new magical girls to avoid the same mistakes the others made.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Though she rarely uses her powers due to her guilt over Julie's death, they are shown to be extremely powerful when she is able to manifest them, as anyone who has done evil acts is restrained and has pain inflicted upon them if they lie. She probably would have been able to kill Terrie if she hadn't been naïve enough to get in close when she had Terrie locked down under her Iron Maiden ability.
  • Karmic Protection: Sarah, as the only legitimately good (but not blameless) magical girl, is the only survivor of the main cast aside from Ivy and Ara.
  • Mystical White Hair: In contrast to Sophie, whose hair is reminiscent of her ice powers, Sarah's white hair emphasizes her initial Shrinking Violet attitude and her magical abilities.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: Seen as this in-universe, since she is literally unable to use her powers for much for the story. She still shows up to fight monsters with the other girls, but it's obvious that she's just hanging around.
  • Sole Survivor: Sarah is not only the only magical girl of the main squad who lives to the end of the comic, but the only member of the main cast overall.
  • Token Good Teammate: Sarah is the only magical girl who is nice to people without an ulterior motive and is the only one to suggest turning themselves in and taking responsibility for Julie's death. She tries to defend others from her friends' bullying and apologizes to the victims, though she is usually brushed aside by both parties due to her lack of action otherwise.

Former Magical Girls

The original magical girls of Peace High.

    Jina

Jina / Fire Spika

The original magical girl of fire. Jina is beautiful, but she's a cruel bully just like Hailey.
  • Alpha Bitch: The original magical girl Alpha Bitch of Peace High, it seems. Interestingly, people seem to take more of an issue with her behavior than with Hailey's later on.
  • Asshole Victim: Julie deactivates Jina's powers during a battle and causes her to get crushed by a monster as revenge for her horrible treatment of Terrie.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: She only acts this way around Julie, pretending to be friends with Terrie and acting far nicer than she really is.
  • Fiery Redhead: She has long red hair and a nasty temper.
  • Hate Sink: She has no Freudian Excuse for the way she acts, and is generally just a ruthless sadist tormenting Terrie because she can.
  • Playing with Fire: From what we see, she has fairly standard fire-based powers.
    Ivy

Ivy / Daisy Nova

The original magical girl of beauty. Unlike most of the other magical girls shown, Ivy is kind as well as beautiful. After finishing school and giving up her magical girl powers, she has become a famous model.
  • Beauty Equals Goodness: Possibly the only straight example in the series.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: In addition to having two-tone color irises, her eyes have exaggerated sparkles or flower shapes in them.
  • Flower Motifs: Daisies, which symbolize innocence.
  • Light 'em Up: In contrast to Hailey's beauty powers utilizing plants, Ivy's abilities appear to have been light-based.
  • Nice Girl: One of the only characters in the series who is kind, helpful, and doesn't suffer too much for it.
  • Spanner in the Works: To Terrie. Despite all the effort that Terrie went to in order to keep Sarah from being able to contact Ivy, Ivy just so happens to bump into her outside her workplace, enabling her to tell Sarah the full truth of Terrie's past with Julie and the other magical girls.
    Ara

Ara / Priest Galaxy

The former magical girl of justice. Ara willingly gave up her powers and returned to being a normal schoolgirl after a falling-out.
  • Batman Gambit: When she takes it upon herself to finally deliver Julie's posthumous letter to Callie, Ara gives Sarah a fake copy, correctly guessing that Terrie will try to intercept Sarah. This distraction lets Ara deliver the real letter without issue.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Ara has pink hair and eyes.
  • Cynicism Catalyst: Jina's death, particularly Julie's obvious role in it, caused Ara to lose faith in being a magical girl and give up her powers.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: Like Callie, she is always drawn this way. She's a Perpetual Frowner too.
  • Mirror Character: In many ways, she's a lot like Sarah, the current magical girl of justice. They have similar appearances and share similar misgivings about being magical girls and their personal inaction resulted in tragedy for people they cared about.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Even in flashbacks, Ara is never shown smiling.

Others

    Kayla

Kayla / Imitation Beauty / Genuine Beauty

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kayla_miss_guillotine_1.png
A junior student at Peace High. Like many others, she idolizes Hailey, but she soon becomes a target of bullying.
  • Ascended Fanboy: She was originally a big fan of Illuminaty Beauty and magical girls in general, and she became a celebrity in her own right as Imitation Beauty. She finally becomes a true magical girl, Genuine Beauty, before her death.
  • Beautiful All Along: When she removes her glasses, other characters are struck by her beauty. This unfortunately leads Hailey to take more notice of her.
  • Died in Your Arms Tonight: She dies in Callie's arms after her fight with Sophie.
  • Fame Through Infamy: Both played straight and subverted. Kayla initially becomes famous when Terrie frames her for an attempt on Hailey's life, but even though she's initially a pariah, Kayla gets fans of her own who like her natural beauty and sweet personality. Even later, she's caught in a scandal with a fellow actor, and this time her excuses don't endear her to the public, leading her fame to fade.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: Hailey says as much to her when making fun of her and calling said glasses ugly. Kayla turns out to be quite attractive without them, to Hailey's consternation.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Kayla sacrifices her shot at restarting her idol career by instead taking the stage to talk about the bullying that's going on at Peace High, in order to help Callie out. She later sacrifices her life in battle with Sophie and allows Callie to dress her up as Guillotine as she is dying, letting Kayla take the fall for Callie's crimes for a time.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: She loves magical girls and wants to be one herself, but is convinced she'll never be able to. The desire to be made a magical girl is what keeps her coming back to Callie after finding out that Callie is a Revelator. She eventually gets her wish, though she dies shortly afterwards.
  • Mutual Kill: The result of her fight with Sophie.
  • Unwitting Pawn: To Callie. They meet through a magical girl fansite, where Callie compliments Kayla's art of Illuminaty Beauty and suggests that she try to befriend Hailey. Through this, she leads Hailey to believe that Kayla knows about Hailey's past, leading to her bullying but also her eventual rise to fame and fall from grace, all in an effort to draw Hailey into Callie's web of revenge.
