    Juggernaut (Cain Marko)

Click for Helmetless Look
Click for 1990s Civilian Look
  • Abusive Parents: His father Kurt Marko was an abusive bastard towards him.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Instead of a human empowered by a magical entity, Juggernaut is a mutant instead like other adaptations.
  • Berserk Button: If he is humiliated, insulted, or otherwise made to feel small than his usual reaction is to lash out — sometimes resorting to violence.
  • Big Brother Bully: Being abused by his father Kurt led to him bully his brother Charles in return, even if it didn't made him feel happy.
  • Carpet of Virility: He's got some pretty hairy arms and chest.
  • Fiery Redhead: Has red hair and is well-known for letting his temper get the better of him.
  • Friend to All Children: He can even be downright decent and pleasant to be around, especially around those of the female gender or young children.
  • Healing Factor: Cain claims on the rare event that he is injured that his body has healed itself perfectly. As we find zero scar tissue on his body, we have to assume his healing is regenerative.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: Cain has an obsession with feeling "big and strong" and a fear of being seen as "small and pathetic". As long as Cain feels as though he is the "big boy" in any given situation, he is usually calm and can be reasoned with.
  • The Juggernaut: He's the Juggernaut for a reason. Once he begins to advance in a certain direction, it seems it is virtually impossible to halt Cain's movement. It seems that as he moves forward, he generates a force field of a unknown energy (possibly telekinetic) that allows Cain to charge head first into danger (or through the side of a mountain) and not be harmed. He can be slowed, but it seems that as long as Cain continues to will to move forward, he will make progress.
  • Momma's Boy: While he clearly hated his father, he was close to his mother Sharon, who started drinking after he went missing and was presumed dead in Vietnam.
  • The Needless: According to Cain, he is completely self-sustained, meaning he has no need to breathe, sleep, eat, or drink. However, going without such things tends to make him become "less-human", losing his empathy for others as well as his sense of humor and personality.
  • Nigh-Invulnerability: Cain is invulnerable to most forms of physical injury.
  • Older Than They Look: He's actually seven years older than Charles, but thanks to his mutation he looks much younger. It is estimated he ages the equivalent of one year for every six years that pass in real time.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Cain has a stunted maturity. Though Charles claims that Cain has matured significantly in the last two decades, he acts like an immature frat brother when he's in a good mood and a cruel playground bully when he's ill-tempered.
  • Red Is Violent: Red haired, his suit is red and he can be quite brutish and violent when upset.
  • Related Differently in the Adaptation: Rather than merely being Charles' foster brother, he's his half-brother instead, with the same mother but different fathers.
  • Signature Headgear: His iconic dome-shaped helmet as the Juggernaut.
  • Super-Strength: Cain claims he can lift an excess of 75 tons.
  • Use Your Head: His helmet is ideal for ramming through almost anything in his path.

    Apocalypse (En Sabah Nur)

    Doctor Doom (Viktor von Dumitru)
Click for 1990s Civilian Look
  • Adaptational Attractiveness: Normally Doom's scarring is so bad he has become The Faceless due to never taking off his mask, but here his scars are not as gruesome and he's still rather handsome, at least in the 1990s.
  • Badass Bookworm: Since the death of his love Valeria, Dumitru has been training daily in hand-to-hand combat by his household guard.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Wears a fancy green suit in casual clothes, and he sure is a badass.
  • Brainy Brunette: He's got dark brown hair and is one of the smartest and most resourceful men in the world.
  • The Chessmaster: Dumitru is a brilliant tactician and strategist. If true, rumors of him being the secret leader of the KVLV (Kekraka Visii Latveria Votani) become all the more concerning.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Brown hair and eyes of the same color.
  • Determinator: Dumitru has phenomenal determination and is known to be incredibly stubborn.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: He was very close to his mother, and her unjust death made Victor brutally kill those responsible.
  • In-Series Nickname: Doom, Doomie, People's Prince, Vicious Vick, Vick the Dick, Vicky Boy, Victor von Doom.
  • Insufferable Genius: Oh yeah. As Ben Grimm points out, Doom is just as smart and capable as Reed, and he knows it and never lets you forget it.
  • The Medic: Though he is not a properly trained physician or surgeon, Viktor was trained in holistic medicine by his mother, and he has trained himself in the study of more conventional surgical and medical practices.
  • Not That Kind of Doctor: Doctor Doom might not be a medical doctor, specializing in robotics, but he has medical training nonetheless.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Known far more as Victor von Doom instead of his birth name of Viktor von Dumitru.
  • Robot Master: Dumitru is a world-class expert in robotics, cybernetics, and artificial intelligence. He is a doctor of robotics. His doctoral dissertation on the subject seems to have revolutionized the world of robotics.
  • Related in the Adaptation: He's second cousin of Tony Stark through his mother Maria Carbonelli.
  • Teen Genius: Dumitru is far more than a mere mechanical engineering prodigy. He enrolled in the Haasenstadt University at the age of 15, before graduating three years later with a doctorate's degree in the cutting-edge field of robotics.
  • Torture Technician: If the rumors are true, Dumitru is an exceptional torturer. It is possible that the intel he gained through torture allowed him and his father to usurp the Latverian throne.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Dumitru is known as the "People's Prince" among the Latverian commoners.
  • The Von Trope Family: He's Victor von Doom of course.

    Loki

Click for Civilian Look
  • Adaptation Dye-Job: In the comics and most adaptations Loki is depicted with black or dark brown hair, but here he's blonde.
  • Adopted into Royalty: He was adopted as a son of Odin alongside Tyr and Heimdall to unite the entire pantheon.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: He's a pretty skilled Trickster God and dresses in a fancy suit in civilian clothes.
  • Badass Longcoat: He wears a fur-lined long coat and he's pretty skilled.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: He was on the receiving end of this for centuries for his killing of Baldr, with his son Jörmungandr being forced to drop venom on his father's eyes while tied to a rock.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: He's clearly based on Tom Hiddleston, who played Loki in the MCU.
  • Devious Daggers: He wields a pair of daggers and he has a pretty devious mindset.
  • Green and Mean: Wears a green shirt and tie and he's not the most trustworthy fellow, even at his best.
  • It's Personal: His dislike for Baldr didn't come out of nowhere; during his wedding to Sigyn, a drunk Baldr brought up his multiple escapades with Angrboda, while also calling Loki's daughter Hel a bastard within earshot. So yes, Loki felt very justified in getting his foster brother killed.
  • Monster Progenitor: He fathered Jörmungandr, Fenrir and Hel with Angrboda/Lilith.
  • Sibling Rivalry: With Thor, but especially with Baldr.
  • Signature Headgear: His golden headpiece with horns.
  • The Trickster: He's the Gods of Lies and Mischief of Norse mythology.

    Reverend William Stryker
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reverend_stryker_earth_27m.jpg
  • Evil Old Folks: He's an elderly man who wants the extinction of all mutants.
  • Sinister Minister: He's a reverend who wants nothing more than the extermination of all mutants.

Hellfire Club

    Sebastian Shaw
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/black_king_earth_27m.jpg
Click for 1990s Civilian Look
  • Abusive Parents: His father Jacob Shaw was an abusive alcoholic, and one of his attempted beatings are what triggered his powers to activate for the first time.
  • Alliterative Name: Sebastian Shaw.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: As the Black King, Shaw wears a fancy black suit and he's a powerful mutant in his own right.
  • Cast from Calories: Sebastian's power apparently burns through his body's own energy, requiring him to eat vast amounts of food. However, for a glutton like Sebastian this is hardly a problem as it affords him the chance to gorge himself on expensive food and liquor through the day without need for exercise to maintain his rather dashing figure.
  • Classy Cane: He also has a cane as the Black King to show his wealth.
  • Code Name: Unlike in the comics, where Shaw was referred to by name or as the Black King, here he has the codename of Bolster.
  • Energy Absorption: Sebastian has the superhuman ability to absorb kinetic energy and metabolize it to enhance his own physical strength, speed, and stamina. This makes him extremely difficult to defeat in battle, as every blow struck against him only makes him stronger. Shaw absorbs the energy of any blow he is struck by, not just punches and kicks, but also projectiles like bullets. Without absorbing energy, Shaw is merely a strong ordinary human, through normally he works to keep his strength at a superhuman level. Shaw reportedly spends time hitting a wall after waking in order to build up his power reserves. According to Sebastian himself, his power is not limited to kinetic energy, He can apparently absorb other forms of energy (electricity, fire, thermal, solar, etc.) to fuel his powers. It's just kinetic energy just works the best.
    • Good Thing You Can Heal: On the few times Sebastian has been hurt (usually as a result of his power being overloaded or encountering a type of energy he is not adept at absorbing), he is able to quickly recover by charging himself with appropriate energy and using that to enhance his healing.
    • Super-Speed: When he has absorbed enough energy, Sebastian's speed and reflexes are increased — becoming able to move at incredible speeds in short bursts. The exact speed varies but he claims he once clocked himself at 160 km/h (100 MPH) and insists he's a bit faster now.
    • Super-Toughness: According to Charles, punching Shaw is like "hitting a mattress" as the force of the blow is absorbed the instant contact is made. While Sebastian can still be cut, most cuts are superficial because he saps the blade of nearly all its energy.
  • Family Business: His grandfather Cornelius, his father Jacob and his uncle Esau Shaw, as well as his son Shinobi, are all members of the Hellfire Club.
  • Happily Married: With Lourdes Chantel.
  • Logical Weakness: Sebastian's powers can be overloaded, causing him pain and discomfort.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: As a member of the Hellfire Club, Shaw loves dressing in fine suits.
  • Old Money: The Shaws have been members of the Hellfire Club for many years, with his ancestor Elisabeth Shaw-Worthington serving as Black Queen during the late 18th Century.

    Emma Frost
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/white_queen_earth_27m.jpg
Click for 1990s Civilian Look
  • Abusive Parents: Her father Winston Frost was cold and abusive, especially towards her older brother Christian, who eventually snapped and killed their father.
  • Adaptational Dye-Job: In the comics she was brown-haired who dyed her hair blonde, but here she's a natural blonde.
  • Adaptational Nationality: In the comics she was from Boston but spoke with a British accent to appear more refined, here she's actually half-American and half-British.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Ambiguously Bi in the comics, explicitly bisexual here, although she still prefers heterosexual relationships.
  • Code Name: While in the comics she was referred to as the White Queen, it was only her title within the Hellfire Club, but here her Cryptonym is Perfection, which certainly fits her.
  • Collared by Fashion: Wears a black collar in her 1990s look. As the Whte Queen she wears a fancier white collar.
  • Elemental Motifs: Ice. She is a blonde dressed in all-white, her surname is "Frost", she has a cool and cynical personality, and her organic diamond form can look like ice.
  • Family Business: Her mother and siblings all are members of the Hellfire Club, although in the nineties Emma was merely a Second Circle member.
  • Femme Fatale: Emma is sexually promiscuous and is self-aware enough to use this to her advantage. She has studied psychology to gain better insight into seduction and currently moonlights as an exotic dancer to further hone her craft.
  • Gemstone Assault: Emma has the ability to transform her body into a flexible organic diamond form. When assuming this form, Emma must transform all parts of her body, rather than selectively transforming certain areas and can remain in this form for up to an hour.
    • Lack of Empathy: This transformation also alters Emma's personality, causing her to lose her empathy for others. Emma does not have access to her telepathy while in her diamond form.
  • Lingerie Scene: As the White Queen Emma only wears lingerie and a cape.
  • Instant Armor: Her secondary mutant powers allow her to instantly give herself an organic diamond skin.
  • Lady of War: Has an elegant, haughty, and ruthless demeanor, and still looks gorgeous when fighting with her psychic powers or diamond form.
  • Mage Born of Muggles: She and her siblings Christian, Adrienne and Cordelia were all born mutants, while their parents Winston and Hazel are not.
  • No-Sell: Her siblings developed an immunity to her telepathy as a reaction to their father trying to use them to train Emma. Emma herself appears to be completely immune to psionic intrusion and manipulation while in her diamond state.
  • Non-Indicative Name: She doesn't have any actual ice/cold based powers, unless you count turning into diamond which kind of looks like ice.
  • Of Corsets Sexy: As the White Queen she wears a white corset and panties.
  • Proud Beauty: She is a Head-Turning Beauty who is very proud of her appearance and enjoys flaunting her good looks.
  • Rich Bitch: Emma comes from great wealth. As a product of this upbringing, Emma considers herself above most others. Though she enjoys being in power, she prefers to be the "power behind the throne" and attaches herself to those she thinks will make great leaders. A true survivalist, Emma will likely shift allegiances without regret as a means of self-preservation.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She enjoys the attention her body brings, and on her very first meeting with the Second Circle of the Hellfire Club, she disrobed without any sense of shame at all.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She stands at 5'10/178cm tall and she's very beautiful.
  • Stripperiffic: As the White Queen Emma only wears a fur-lined cape, a corset, white panties, opera gloves and knee-high boots.
  • Telepathy: Emma has displayed the telepathic standards of broadcasting and receiving thoughts, as well as a naughty knack for mind-control and the altering of perceptions and memories. In addition to this baseline power, Emma can perform a variety of other psionic disciplines.
    • Master of Illusion: Emma can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring. These illusions can also be used to help others fight against pain or simply surround them with more pleasant environments.
    • Psi Blast: Emma can project psionic force bolts or blast waves which can do damage on either a physical or mental level and which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness.
    • Psychic Block Defense: Emma can protect herself and other minds, rendering them immune or highly resistant to any/all mental intrusion, including psychic or empathic powers, hypnosis, illusions and/or deception.
    • Psychic Link: Emma has the ability to develop a mental link with certain individuals — usually other psionics or persons that Emma is considerably well-acquainted. This allows for extended telepathic conversation at a much greater range than Emma's usual ability, as well as the potential for this telepathic visits to be much more vivid.

    Shinobi Shaw

    Mr. Sinister (Nathaniel Essex)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mister_sinister__earth_27m__commission_by_phil_cho_dh4zdqq_fullview.jpg
Click for Civilian Look
  • Beard of Evil: He fittingly has a well-cropped goatee and is pretty evil.
  • Coat Cape: He wears his black coat over his suit in this manner.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: He has abnormally pale skin, dark brown hair and can be quite the disturbing person.
  • Hand Blast: Nathaniel can emit concussive blasts from his hands that closely resemble the energy blasts fired by Scott Summers. These blasts do not have Scott's sheer force behind them, however.
  • I Have Many Names: To hide his near immortality, Essex has had many aliases, like Nathan Milbury and Robert Windsor.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: Dresses in a fancy suit, fitting for his origins in Victorian England.
  • My Grandson, Myself: While he presents himself as just the most recent director of the Essex Clinic, it's likely he has just been pretending to be his own descendants for almost 200 years.
  • Power Copying: It is speculated by Charles that Essex's true mutation may be some form of mimicry, in which overtime, his body slowly mimics the abilities of other mutants that has prolonged interaction with. His enhanced physiology may have actually been the first mimicked developments. According to his former patients and close associates who have seen Essex utilize these mimicked abilities, Essex's skill takes on a pale shade, his eyes fill with glowing red blood, and a crystalline growth protrudes from his forehead.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Being born in the late 18th Century, Sinister has remained alive thanks to his partnership with Apocalypse.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are red and they even glow when he's using his powers.
  • Super-Speed: Nathaniel's reflexes and running speed are considerable. Remy LeBeau has stated that Nathaniel could easily snatch (uncharged) cards from the air when Remy was neglecting his treatments in favor of doing card tricks for the clinic's staff. This may have been what led to patient's cards being banned at the Essex Clinic.
  • Super-Strength: Nathaniel Essex is able to lift approximately three times his own body weight with minimal effort and may be strong enough to lift upwards of a full metric ton (2204 pounds) when pressed to his limits.
  • Super-Toughness: Nathaniel Essex claims to be somewhat resistant to violent attack, including gunshots, bladed weapons, and even energy blasts. This was at least somewhat confirmed by Scott Summers who was a patient at the Essex Clinic and accidentally blasted Nathaniel through a wall, only for Essex to get up and dust himself off before continuing Scott's treatment unfazed.
  • Telekinesis: Essex has been known to summon a scalpel to his waiting hand through telekinesis. Remy LeBeau says Essex has also used this power to disarm hostile patients or shut a door to prevent escape.
  • Telepathy: Nathaniel Essex has shown the ability to read unguarded surface thoughts from unsuspecting persons.

    Norman Osborn
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/norman_osborn_earth_27m.jpg
  • Adaptation Expansion: In the comics, Norman Osborn's connection to the Hellfire Club wasn't explored much, but here he's a Fifth Circle member.
  • Badass Bookworm: Norman isn't just an excellent businessman, he was also a more accomplished scientist and engineer.
  • Deal with the Devil: Many people, both seriously and in jest, have accused Norman of selling his soul in exchange for success, which he usually laughs it off.
  • In-Series Nickname: Oz, Stormin' Norman, Wizard of Oscorp.
  • Secondary Color Nemesis: Norman wears a moss green suit and a purple tie.
  • Self-Made Man: Norman might have been born on a moderately wealthy family, but his father Ambrose squandered most of it on failed inventions. Norman used his own intelligence and business-savvy to found Oscorp and make it a Fortune 500 industry.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He and Richard Parker were once friends, and they even worked together on the Weapon G project, but that ended due to Richard and Mary's death.

Sentinel Services Division

    Sentinels
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sentinel_soldier_earth_27m.jpg
Sentinel Soldier
  • Faceless Mooks: Sentinel soldiers wear helmets that cover their entire face.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Their armor is purple and dark blue and they are in charge of facing dangerous mutants.

    Sabretooth (Victor Creed)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sabretooth_earth_27m.jpg
Click for 1990s Civilian Look
  • Absurdly Sharp Claws: Creed has retractable claws on each of his fingers and toes, which protrude from his digits, sliding over his fingernails and toenails. These are capable of tearing, cutting, and penetrating most flesh and many natural materials. The claws are resilient and should they break, they regrow almost instantly.
  • Ambiguously Related: He and Logan could be related due to their very similar mutations and connection to Canada, but it's not certain.
  • Arch-Enemy: He and Logan have known each other for a long time, and they're their respective archenemies.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: According to Creed, he once fell victim to a mental fugue which incites spurts of severe animalistic behavior. It appears this condition has been partially suppressed due to SSD's mental conditioning, which may have left Creed with psychopathic and sadistic tendencies in its place.
  • Code Name: Besides Sabretooth, his code name within the Sentinels is Weapon S.
  • Evil Is Bigger: Sabretooth stands at 6'6"/198cm tall, making him almost two heads taller than Wolverine.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Victor's canine teeth bring to mind a sabretooth cat, and he's a complete savage. Creed's animal-like canine teeth are capable of chewing through substances as strong as wood and bone.
  • Fur and Loathing: His Sabretooth costume comes with a prominent fur collar, and he's quite the loathsome individual.
  • Healing Factor: Creed's body quickly regenerates damaged tissue, limbs, and organs at an accelerated rate. His healing factor does not affect his ability to feel pain from his injuries or pain caused from the healing.
  • Genius Bruiser: Just because Victor lets his savagery dictate his actions doesn't mean he's dumb, on the contrary, he's quite smart.
  • Hot Blooded Sideburns: Has some prominent sideburns and he's hot-blooded to the point of Ax-Crazy.
  • The Nose Knows: Identified that Mystique was a shapeshifter just by her smell, which is impressive, since Raven's powers allow her to copy even the smell of the people she imitates.
  • Older Than They Look: Much like Wolverine, Victor is much older than he appears thanks to his mutation, which makes him age at a much slower rate than a normal human.
  • Old Soldier: Just like Logan, Creed has fought in wars at least since the American Civil War, and was even part of the Sentinels' Howling Commandos.
  • Serial Killer: He's apparently been killing since the 19th Century for various reasons.
  • The Sociopath: He clearly has psychopathic and sadistic tendencies and it's not entirely clear if it's due to his mental conditioning or he has always been a sick bastard.
  • Super-Senses: Creed has incredibly acute senses. He can function in almost complete darkness with little impairment. His hearing allows him to hear heartbeats on the other side of walls. Creed's sense of smell can recognize and track people by smell alone.
  • Team Member in the Adaptation: Like Logan he is a former member of the Howling Commandos during WWII.
  • Terms of Endangerment: Calls Logan "Jimmy" just as he's planning on killing anyone he cares about in front of him.

    Bolivar Trask
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bolivar_trask_earth_27m.jpg
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Trask in the comics at least didn't have anything personal against mutants, but here he's a asshole willing to frame mutants in order to make people believe all of them are a threat.
  • False Flag Operation: He sends Sabretooth to attack Senator Kelly and his wife, then sicks the Sentinels on Sabretooth and imprisons him. All in order to ensure Kelly votes 'No' on the upcoming Evolution Rights Bill.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: Wears a lab coat and while not a Mad Scientist, he sure is involved with the scientific side of the Sentinels.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: He's among those who believe mutants are a threat to humanity, having worked with them in the shadows and using them as Weapons for countless years.
  • Pornstache: He's got a mustache that brings the style.

    Emil Blonsky
  • Adaptation Origin Connection: He's the one who shot Jennifer Walters for getting in his way while trying to capture Bruce, leading to Jen receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin and leading to the creation of She-Hulk.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: On the receiving end at the hands of the Hulk for hurting his cousin.
  • Team Member in the Adaptation: He's a former member of the Sentinels, while in the comics he had no relationship to the group.

NYC Criminals

    Kingpin (Wilson Fisk)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wilson_fisk_earth_27m.jpg
  • Bald Head of Toughness: Completely bald and he's the toughest foe Daredevil has ever faced.
  • Cigar Chomper: He's carrying a cigar in his portrait.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: Despite his tough exterior, Fisk is known to enjoy the finer things in life, including art and music. He has an extensive art collection and has been spotted at the opera on more than one occasion. It is quite possible that this is due to Vanessa's influence on him.
  • Purple Is Powerful: He wears a purple shirt and a scarf, and he's one of the most powerful men in New York, both physically and socially.
  • Smart People Play Chess: Fisk was a competitive chess player in his youth and he's a very capable strategist.
  • Stout Strength: He's a brickhouse of 6'7"/201cm and 450lbs/204kg, and he's incredibly resilient and surprisingly fast.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Fisk's favorite meal is a steak dinner. He's known to frequent "The Marbled Cut", a particularly high-end steakhouse in Midtown, where he always orders the penthouse, medium rare.
  • Villain in a White Suit: He wears a fancy white suit.

    Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius)

    The Lizard (Curtis "Curt" Connors)

    Electro (Maxwell Dillon)

    The Vulture (Adrian Toomes)

The Enforcers

    Montana (Jackson Brice)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/montana_earth_27m.jpg
  • Cowboy: He's an old school cowboy from Boze, Montana.

    The Ox (Raymond Bloch)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ox_earth_27m.jpg
  • Animal Motifs: Like an ox, he's big, strong, but not particularly bright or fast.
  • The Brute: He serves as the muscle of the Enforcers.
  • Evil Redhead: He's not particularly evil, but he's still a mob enforcer and has bright red hair.

    Fancy Dan (Daniel Brito)
