LG Radgrid "Hitotsuyanagi-tai"

The focal Legion of the BOUQUET TV anime, League of Gardens, and the first novel. Comprised of leader Hitotsuyanagi Riri, her Schutzengel Shirai Yuyu, Yuyu's former legion-mate Yoshimura Thi Mai, and other first-years recruited by Riri.

    In General
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: They've all got their eccentricities but are a nonetheless highly effective, coordinated Legion.

Three sizes: B80/W55/H73
Skills/Interests: Physical activity, all sports, collecting crystals
Favorite food: Ramune juice, junk food
Dislikes: Insects
CHARM: Gungnir, Brionac
Rare Skill: Charisma
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Hikaru Akao (Japanese), Sarah Wiedenheft (English)

Inspired to become a Lily when she was rescued by Yuyu two years ago during the Withdrawal from Koshu, she enrolled to Yurigaoka after being placed on its entrance waitlist. Friendly to everyone, she has a talent for winning over those around her. Her belief that "you can succeed if you stand up to fear of failure" can drive her to push herself too far.

  • Adaptational Wimp: The anime's depiction of Riri leaves out many events exemplifying her heroic or positive traits present in other media, such as her repeatedly practicing late into the night to improve her combat ability, or her attempts at reaching out to asocial characters like Yujia and Tazusa. Even the formation of Hitotsuyanagi-tai, which in the anime was a task Yuyu gave to her because it seemed as though Riri was slacking off, was originally something Riri (with some encouragement) came up with in the novel and in League of Gardens so that Yuyu would have a Legion she could belong to.
  • Cooldown Hug: Frequently applied to Yuyu by Riri when Yuyu's Lunatic Trancer-induced rampages get the better of her. Often accompanied by Riri calling out some variant of, "[Yuyu-sama/Onee-sama], please, listen to my voice."
  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: Is the energetic half to Yuyu's soft-spoken self, being the chatty, energetic, extraverted, and joyful contrast to Yuyu's calm, brooding, quiet, introverted self.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: Considering the cast is mostly girls, there are several girls who have quite an interest in her, including Kaede and Araya.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: While her CHARM also has an assault rifle component, she uses the blade most often in battle and only shoots for suppressing fire or while she's getting in melee range. Ironically, while she tends to use the Gungnir like a sword, it is (like its namesake) a "lance" model CHARM better suited for thrusting.
  • I Owe You My Life: Wants to become a Lily because Yuyu saved her life. A large part of Riri's motivations stems from wanting to help others, Yuyu included, like how Yuyu had saved her back then.
  • It Was a Gift: The Brionac she wields in the "Hitotsuyanagi Riri version 2.0" unit, and her four-leaf clover accessory, are both gifts from Yuyu.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: For Yuyu, and to a smaller extent, for Tazusa. In Yuyu's case, this carries over into combat as well, due to how Riri's Charisma complements Yuyu's Lunatic Trancer.
  • The Load: Starts off a bit like one in the beginning, as several of her classmates already had experience with practice combat, or even had seen actual battle. Her storyline and motivations in The Fateful Gift mostly revolve around Riri's desire to support Yuyu better, both in and out of battle.
  • Magnetic Hero: For someone who's so inexperienced, socially awkward, and only got into the school by lucking out with the wait-list, she's quite skilled at enlisting allies for her Legion and becoming rather popular with her schoolmates. In the anime, Matsuri suggests that it may be the effects of Riri's Charisma at work. Since the anime removes or changes the reasons that Riri's friends were drawn to her in other media, whether Matsuri's hypothesis is accurate or otherwise remains to be seen.
  • Punny Name: "Riri" is very similar to the Japanese pronunciation of the English word "Lily". She points this out in the first anime episode, saying how people used to tease her because of it. Her self-introduction for Last Bullet also makes reference to this.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: Despite her being a new recruit and repeatedly insisting that Hitotsuyanagi-tai is "[Yuyu]'s Legion," everybody else considers Riri the team leader.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: One of the kindest characters you'll meet. She's sweet and kind to everyone.
  • Super-Reflexes: Riri has been shown to instinctively react quickly to certain situations, whether it's stopping Kaede from interfering with a fight to actually saving her life during the battle against the Huge twice in episode 1 of the anime. Yuyu was somewhat convinced that the actually inexperienced Riri had some combat experience because of this. In the anime, Riri's athleticism and interest in sports is never brought up onscreen, whereas it is implied or stated outright in other media.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Ramune and anything ramune-flavored.

    Shirai Yuyu

Lunatic Angel
Age: 16
Birthday: April 12
Blood type: O (profile), A (Last Bullet)
Height/Weight: 163cm/48kg
Three sizes: B90/W59/H90
Skills/Interests: Reading, watching shows
Favorite food: Black tea, sandwiches
Dislikes: Vulgar and crude things
CHARM: Dáinsleif, Brionac, Gram
Rare Skill: Lunatic Trancer
Position: AZ
Portrayed by: Yuko Natsuyoshi (Japanese), Lindsay Seidel (English)

A Lily with capabilities on the level of representing Yurigaoka. She has a stoic personality that makes her impose high standards on herself. Due to a certain incident, she has kept herself at a distance from others.

  • The Ace: Considered to be one of the strongest Lilies in Yurigaoka. There's a reason why Riri looks up to her.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Lunatic Trancer sends Yuyu into an Unstoppable Rage that makes her as dangerous to her allies as she is a threat against their foes. Like other Lunatic Trancer users in the series, the mental and emotional stress she is under when activating her Rare Skill eases when in the presence of somebody she feels she can depend on — Misuzu before her death, and afterwards, Riri. Beneath her aloof facade, Yuyu cares deeply for her few friends, and being one of the only two second-years in Hitotsuyanagi-tai, guides along her underclassmen on and off the field.
  • Broken Pedestal: In the anime, after becoming Riri's Schutzengel, Yuyu is trying to make herself look like one to Riri, and at the end of episode 2, she outright wants Riri to regret her decision for doing so. Ironically, her counterparts in the novels and stage plays are terrified of disappointing Riri and worry that she is not being a good role model to her. By the later anime episodes, when Yuyu has warmed up to Riri, the viewer comes to see that she is doing her best to avert the trope.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Riri is slowly defrosting her, in particular, the fifth episode, where she goes out of her way to try to buy some ramune for Riri's birthday.
  • Energetic and Soft-Spoken Duo: Is the soft spoken half of her duo with Riri, coming off as cool, quiet, aloof, and introverted to Riri's chatty, friendly, warm, and friendly personality.
  • Impossible Task: Because of Riri slacking off in episode 4, Yuyu asks Riri to form a Legion of 9 people, expecting a beginner like her to fail miserably and face reality. However, Riri ends up getting 5 girls to sign up at the end of episode 4 and then completes the task at the end of episode 5. Yuyu is quite impressed.
  • Lonely Together: Yuyu's Schutzengel and the girl who would have become Matsuri's Schild both passed away, which led to Yuyu and Matsuri spending much time together because of their shared circumstances and eventually rooming together.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Two years ago, her Schutzengel Misuzu died in battle, apparently at Yuyu's own hands. The truth of the matter is more complex than that, but Yuyu had suppressed her memories due to the trauma of what happened. The disbandment of her Legion thereafter did nothing to help her emotional wounds. By the point Riri reunites with her at Yurigaoka, she notices how different Yuyu is compared to before.
  • Trauma Button: Misuzu's death and everything associated with it, particularly, Yuyu's old Dáinsleif that injured her. In The Fateful Gift and the anime, the sight of the Dáinsleif leaves Yuyu very shaken and bent on retrieving it.
    Andou Tazusa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tazusa_ando_anime_1.png
Blood-spattering Lily
Age: 15
Birthday: February 13
Blood type: AB (profile), O (Last Bullet)
Height/Weight: 158cm/49kg
Skills/Interests: Origami
Favorite food: Coffee
Dislikes: Cramped rooms
CHARM: Dáinsleif, Tyrfing
Rare Skill: Phantasm
Position: AZ/TZ
Portrayed by: Risa Tsumugi (Japanese), Kristen McGuire (English)

A Lily with ties to G.E.H.E.N.A., a MegaCorp famous for research into the Huge. Although she gives off an impression of being cold due to how taciturn she is, she is kind at her core.

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Tazusa was orphaned as a child, sent to GEHENA where she experienced the "living hell" of the Boosted Lily experiments, and even after she was taken into Yurigaoka custody, still could not escape GEHENA's and the government's hold over her.
  • The Dog Bites Back: In The Fateful Gift, she has the opportunity to pay GEHENA back for all the suffering inflicted upon herself and the other Boosted Lilies, using the powers she gained when experimented on by GEHENA.
  • Establishing Character Moment: During her first appearance in the anime, she's shown to coldly reject Riri's invitation to join her Legion, but then she gets all excited upon seeing a cat shortly after, showing that she really likes cats, but has a distrust towards humans.
  • Introverted Cat Person: Initially not really open to many people, but she's keen on cats roaming the campus.
  • It's Personal: Tazusa's reasons for going to Ludvico's aid at the start of The Fateful Gift boil down to concern and empathy for the Boosted Lilies there. It gets all the more personal for her after the extent of GEHENA's involvement is brought to light.
  • Orphan's Ordeal: Her father died in the war and was declared a war criminal for his actions in it. Her mother committed suicide after the family were not granted survivors' pension. Mistreated and abused from a young age, Tazusa's Skiller value rose sharply in the meantime, and she was sent to GEHENA, where she underwent horrific human experimentation and became a Boosted Lily.
  • Sins of Our Fathers: Her father was a SDF soldier branded a war criminal. After Tazusa was engineered into a Boosted Lily, she was made to carry out dangerous anti-Huge operations for the government, with her handler/commanding officer only ever referring to her as "Andou's daughter" and not seeing her as her own person.
  • Who Wants to Live Forever?: Tazusa's Healing Factor as a Boosted Lily lets her recover much faster than a regular human, and from much worse injuries at that, so she is prone to throwing herself into dangerous situations with nary a care for her own safety. By the time of the battle at Shimo-Kitazawa, she wonders aloud whether the Huge she is up against might finally be able to kill her. Befriending the rest of Hitotsuyanagi-tai has improved her outlook significantly.

    Futagawa Fumi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fumi_futagawa.png
Age: 15
Birthday: December 21
Blood type: O
Skills/Interests: Reading official bulletins, camping, collecting otter merchandise, Lily otaku pursuits, reading "World Lily Graphic" magazine
Favorite food: Dagashi, gyudon
CHARM: Gungnir
Rare Skill: Taka no Me
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Rimi Nishimoto (Japanese), Suzie Yeung (English)

This "Lily otaku" possesses a broad range of knowledge in overwhelming quantity and quantity, not just regarding Lilies but also CHARMs and battle tactics. She usually is not the type to step forward, though when the topic shifts to anything Lily-related, she takes a proactive stance.

  • Establishing Character Moment: We're introduced with her nerding out over Riri talking with Kaede along with pointing out Yuyu and Araya, knowing a lot about them.
  • Geeky Turn-On: She gets very excited by anything involving Lilies, CHARMS, or combat against Huge, to the point of having a gigantic database of everything you could ever want to know about all three.
  • Glowing Eyes: Gets these whenever she uses her Rare Skill.
  • Magical Eye: Her Rare Skill is a eye-related power that grants her ridiculous sight, meaning she can identify targets and movements at large distance with pinpoint precision.
  • Nosebleed: Has regular ones whenever she gets an overdose of anything related to Lilyss. At some point, she even stuffs her nose with tissue paper.
  • The Smart Girl: May not have a lot of combat experience but she's very familiar with a lot of Lily technology.

    Miriam Hildegard von Gropius
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miliam_gropius_2.png
Der Sturm
Age: 15
Birthday: November 25
Blood type: AB
Height/Weight: 153cm/40kg
Skills/Interests: Watching the "Tranforming Magical Girl Charmy Lily" anime and collecting associated merchandise, tinkering with machinery, building models
Favorite food: Very sweet foods, such as honey and gumdrops
CHARM: Njölnir
Rare Skill: Phase Trancendence
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Karin Takahashi (Japanese), Emily Fajardo (English)

A Germany-born Lily enrolled in Yurigaoka's Engineering division, she develops and researches CHARMs. Because she excels at taking care of theirs, her upperclassmen often enlist her help with their research and day-to-day activities.

  • A Master Makes Their Own Tools: She built her own CHARM for a "design the Mjölnir" competition and named it "Njölnir" as a joke.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Her Phase Trancendence skill lets her use a lot of her energy at once, but at the cost of her entire stamina.
  • Blue Blood: The "von" in her name denotes her family's noble lineage.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's short, childish, but incredibly strong and wields a giant battleax as her CHARM.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Is decidedly not a fan of Moyu's nickname for her: Gropi, calling it creepy after Moyu calls it cute. And yes, it's pronounced just how you think.
  • Expressive Hair: her Idiot Hair starts twitching when she starts feeling strong emotions.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She has long, elegant twin-tails that reach down to her thighs with white ribbons to emphasize her childishness and her (presumed) innocence.
  • Happily Ever After: Although not married, she and Moyu take a Schutzengel Pledge at the credits sequence, which almost looks like a wedding ceremony.

    Kuo Shenlin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuo_shenlin_6.png
Age: 15
Birthday: February 6
Blood type: A
Skills/Interests: Baths, kungfu tea ceremony, reading about tactics
Favorite food: Pasta, cuisine from her homeland, meat dishes
CHARM: Mazu Relic
Rare Skill: Testament
Position: TZ
Portrayed by: Sana Hoshimori (Japanese), Michelle Rojas (English)

A Taipei-born elegant young lady who has been training to become a Lily at Yurigaoka since kindergarten. While she stands firm against what she considers wrong, she is normally very much the Nice Girl. Yujia's dormitory roommate.

  • Doomed Hometown: Her homecountry was overwhelmed by Huge and destroyed before she even got to know it.
  • Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: Though it's packing some serious firepower and Huge cutting ability, her CHARM is primarily designed for defense.
  • Mutual Envy: With Yujia, she felt frustrated by the fact that she was so nervous and lacking in confidence even though she was so capable.
    • Also the fact that Yujia resents having been sent away from home, while Shenlin never got to know her home.

    Kaede Johan Nouvel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kaede_j_nouvelle_28anime29.png
Age: 15
Birthday: January 1
Blood type: AB
Skills/Interests: Collecting art pieces, training, photography
Favorite food: Organic food
CHARM: Gungnir, Joyeuse, Hauteclere
Rare Skill: Regista
Position: TZ
Portrayed by: Mikako Izawa (Japanese), Dawn M. Bennett (English)

A talented girl who aced the Yurigaoka external entrant examinations with flying colors as its top scorer. The child of a noble and wealthy family. With a principled nature, she dislikes cowardly schemes as she deems them unsightly.

  • Badass Bookworm: Along with being very formidable in combat (when she enrolled, she already had practical experience), she's also rather intelligent too.
  • Covert Pervert: After she falls in love with Riri, she starts trying to take various opportunities for intimate actions with her, such as always wanting to wash her back while planning to "accidentally" reach into "weird places". A lot of these moments are accompanied by either having a Luminescent Blush, sparklingly eyes, a perverted giggle and smile, drooling, or all of the above.
  • Lady of War: She's very refined, put-together, and dignified, so her CHARM is equally noble in design, being a short-sword like you would use for dueling or an automatic crossbow which brings to mind medieval knights.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Has been confirmed to be interested in women, having "an over-the-top of loving cute girls". She's really into both Yuyu and Riri (after Riri saved her) and is very overprotective of the latter, especially when Araya flirts with her.
  • Rescue Romance: She was initially mildly friendly to Riri at best, and angrily dismissive of her because of Riri's lack of training at worst. After Riri saved her from a rockslide of boulders during their first Huge encounter, however, Kaede claims to have found the "girl of her destiny" and is now glued to her side and showering her with praise and affection. Along with thinking of some more "mature" actions to take with Riri.
  • Spoiled Sweet: Comes from a rich family and is rather very sweet ... to her friends at least.

    Wang Yujia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wang_yujia.png
Age: 15
Birthday: December 21
Blood type: AB
Skills/Interests: Handicrafts, aqua terrarium cultivation
Favorite food: Fish dishes
CHARM: Asterion
Rare Skill: Ten no Hakari-me
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Hikaru Tōno (Japanese), Megan Shipman (English)

The middle daughter of three sisters; being raised alongside her outstanding older and younger sisters has led to a lack of confidence in herself. Untalkative and bad at expressing her emotions, her tendency to fall silent when troubled often leads to others mistaking it as anger. Shenlin's dormitory roommate.

  • Anime Chinese Girl: An unusual example. She's Chinese by heritage, her Custom Uniform is clearly Chinese-inspired, but has Icelander citizenship. The Hitotsuyanagi-tai novel mentions that she was drawn to Shenlin because of their shared ethnicity.
  • Custom Uniform: Her uniform is noticeably different from the rest of the cast, even with other students in CHARM R&D.
  • Informed Attribute: Yujia's severe case of resting bitch face, which causes much dismay for her in the Hitotsuyanagi-tai novel, is barely noticeable (if at all) in other media, thanks to being played by the baby-faced Tono Hikaru and the "cute" art style of the anime.
  • Magic Eye: Her Rare Skill apparently allows her to effectively sense how to target things from a vast distance, making her an extraordinary sniper.
  • Meido: Gets dragged into dressing up as a over-the top cutesy maid with cat-ears and a little staff that would belong to a Miko for a cosplay contest. She gets first place.
  • Sniper Duel: Has something not unlike this with Shenlin, where she targets her across multiple times using training rounds and her roommate slaps the bullets right out of the face.
    • Becomes a more literal duel at the final shot when Shenlin catches the bullet with her Charm and shoots it right at, forcing her to switch from Sniper mode to close combat move to block it.

    Yoshimura Thi Mai
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yoshimura_thi_mai.png
Speed Star
Age: 16
Birthday: July 21
Blood type: O
Skills/Interests: Collecting turtle mascots
Favorite food: Bún chả
CHARM: Brionac, Thần Kiếm
Rare Skill: Shukuchi
Position: AZ/TZ
Portrayed by: Haruki Iwata (Japanese), Dani Chambers (English)

A Vietnam-born prodigy Lily with a dislike of conventional training. Magnanimous by nature, she is boundlessly cheerful and does not get mad even if made light of. The mood-maker of Hitotsuyanagi-tai; she becomes reliable when her friends are in distress.

  • Cute Little Fangs: She always has one canine visible when her mouth is open.
  • Flash Step: her Rare Skill lets her move at ridiculous speed even by the standards of Lily, flashing from one point to the other.
  • Girlish Pigtails: To emphasize her playful, childish personality.
  • The Nicknamer: She frequently refers to her classmates with childish nicknames like "Fumin" and "Wang-Wang".
  • Terrible Artist: Mai enjoys drawing, but what she draws is... avant garde.
  • Walkon Water: She has never done it, but it seems to be at least possible if you use enough energy.

    Hitotsuyanagi Yuri
Portrayed by: Miku Itō (Japanese), Amber Lee Connors (English)

An unknown girl who was found after a fight against a Huge in the anime. She takes an attachment to Riri and almost treats her as a parent.

  • Artificial Human: Even though she's revealed to have DNA of a normal human, it's strongly implied she was created from the stem cells of a Huge as a synthetic Lily as an experiment of G.E.H.E.N.A..
  • Identity Amnesia: She has no idea who she is. Riri names her "Yuri", after her and Yuyu's Portmanteau Couple Name.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Fights and defeats a very powerful Huge with relative ease at the cost of her own life.
  • Ridiculously Average Guy: At least genetically speaking, it is what first makes people notice the possibility that she is related to the Huge. Her genetics are just too average to be normal.
  • Story-Breaker Power: As a synthetic Lily, she's really fast and powerful. She was able to easily take out a Huge nest too.
  • Walking Spoiler: The Stinger for Episode 8 along with the entirety of Episode 9 reveal her connections as a synthetic Lily created from Huge stem cells along with her Heroic Sacrifice while fighting a Huge herself.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Episode 9 had the government place an arrest order on Riri for refusing to give Yuri up due to her connections with the Huge. However, once Moyu and the Acting Chairman managed to convince the government to rescind said arrest order, a Huge attacked and Yuri took on the Huge herself at the cost of her own life.
  • Walk on Water: Combines the Shukuchi high speed movement skill and Miriam's Phase Transcendence skill to run on water.

Yurigaoka Arsenal Division

Age: 16
Birthday: September 19
Blood type: O

Favorite food: Meat dishes
Dislikes: Rats (because they gnaw on machinery)
CHARM: Asterion
Rare Skill: Kono Yo no Kotowari
Portrayed by: Inori Minase (Japanese), Madeleine Morris (English)

A Teen Genius who is the pride of Yurigaoka's Arsenal Division, where students are trained to become Arsenals who can take the field. On one hand, she is highly regarded within the Arsenal Division; on the other, she is seen as a "mad scientist" and "weirdo", having several aspects to her that are beyond the understanding of normal people.

  • The Blacksmith: Whereas Miriam is more active as a Lily and a member of the Arsenal Division, Moyu seems to focus mostly on the production, repair and research into Charms.
  • Motor Mouth: To the point where if the Student Council needs her to explain something, they'll tell her to just give them the gist.
  • The Nicknamer: Gave Miriam the nickname "Gropi" and named her robot for the exhibition match "Mecha Rumpelstilzchen" of all things.

LG Sanngrthr

Dubbed the "Legion beyond control", the colorful personalities of Sanngrthr are (in)famous for their clashes with authority, especially instructors and the Yurigaoka student council. This caused them to take a longer-than-typical time to receive formal recognition as a Legion and to be allowed on self-initiated expeditions. The bonds between the members are strong as steel.

Skills/Interests: Fortune-telling, fashion
Height/Weight: 160cm/49kg
CHARM: Aspidzmiej
Rare Skill: Heliosphere
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Makiura Itsuki

An all-purpose Lily who is the only one in the world that has awakened to all 7 offensive subskills, and served as a headliner member of the legendary first-generation Alfheim. In her first year of high school, she took the plunge to equip herself with a experimental mind-link CHARM despite its known dangerous side-effects. The resulting overload of magi on her body left Touka in a vegetative state. During the ARMS novel, Touka is said to be recuperating in Yurigaoka's special infirmary, though she appears in episode 8 of the anime displaying another CHARM test model developed by the Arsenals.

  • Shock and Awe: The experimental CHARM she shows off in the anime looks like a mechanical kite that shoots lightning at targets.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Touka's incident with the fourth-gen CHARM was one of several issues that eventually led to the original Alfheim disbanding. Moyu, her close friend, was all the more driven to further development of the CHARM so as not to let Touka's efforts go to waste, but the incident and Moyu's persistence towards such a goal also made Moyu a notorious figure among students and faculty alike.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Touka spends the entirety of the ARMS novel portrayed almost akin to a Posthumous Character, never waking from her coma. She has an unvoiced appearance in the anime, where she seems completely healthy, though some of Moyu's lines imply that the coma still happened. When and how Touka recovered is not brought up at all.

Fumi's hundreds of tweets about or mentioning Hibari, a notable amount of which were Ship Teasenote  thereafter helped add layers of characterization and complexity to her. Hibari was also the first member of Sanngrthr to appear in Last Bullet, showing up to help Fumi during the Aogashima mission.

Skills/Interests: Pottery
CHARM: Dáinsleif, Dáinsleif Carbine SP, Tyrfing, Charlemagne
Rare Skill: Circlet Bless
Position: AZ
Portrayed by: Rie Takahashi (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)

She has an obedient and gentle personality, but her lovable appearance belies an unimaginable Dark and Troubled Past. Well-reputed as a top-class Lily among those raised by Yurigaoka. She overcame the handicap of losing sensation in her left hand, her dominant hand, to take to the battlefield once again. Also notorious for her reckless handling of CHARMs.

  • Demoted to Extra: Isn't as notable in the anime as compared to other media, instead appearing as a rather helpful character to the other students.
  • Determinator: Has been determined to not give up, as explained in her character bio.
  • Dual Wielding: Circlet Bless lets her use two CHARMs at the same time. Her fighting style is greatly influenced by Ludvico's Sachie, another renowned Circlet Bless user.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Sports a pair of normal looking pigtails which are quite distinct compared to other characters.
  • Idiot Hair
  • Nice Girl: The first classmate aside from Fumi and Kaede to befriend Riri. She wishes Riri and Fumi the best of luck in forming a great legion, even if she cannot join herself. Shiori is also one of the few people that get along well with Kusumi.
  • Number Two: Of her Legion.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Has an old injury that caused her to lose feeling in her left hand. She sustained the injury in her childhood while attempting to protect her family from a group of Huge.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Frequently, to the point of being denied service by the Arsenal who usually handles requests from her Legion. At a loss for who to approach, Shiori and Hijiri eventually turned to Moyu.

LG Alfheim "Ichibantai"

The second Legion to bear the Alfheim name, led by original Alfheim member Amano Soraha, taking over leadership from Ichibantai's Tanaka Ichi.

Alfheim are Yurigaoka's flagship expedition Legion and considered one of the strongest Legions in the world. They are featured in the ARMS novel, and their participation in the campaign to eliminate the S-level Nest at Niigata is the focus of the Glory novel. Their less-than-impressive depiction in the BOUQUET anime is said to be that they were making preparations for the Niigata expedition, while -full bloom- explains that their lack of involvement in the events of League of Gardens was also due to the same preparations.

    Amano Soraha
Age: 16
Birthday: October 27
Blood type: O
Height/Weight: 158cm/50kg
CHARM: Fragarach, Gram, Chrysaor, Dáinsleif SP
Rare Skill: Heliosphere
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Minami Tsuda (Japanese), Marissa Lenti (English)

  • Idiot Hair
  • Wrecked Weapon: When the Huge in Episode 6 blocks the Neunwelt bullet, she cracks the barrier while breaking her weapon. Sadly it doesn't actually kill the monster.

    Egawa Kusumi
Age: 15
Birthday: March 27
Blood type: AB
Height/Weight: 154cm/47kg
CHARM: Laevatein, Ipetam, Brionac, Gungnir
Rare Skill: Phantasm
Position: TZ
Portrayed by: Sayaka Harada (Japanese), Meg McClain (English)
  • Parasol Parachute: Shows that off when rescuing Soraha from falling after she tries to finish off the Huge in episode 6.
  • Shrinking Violet: Very quiet. The anime plays up her tendency to hide behind Ichi or Soraha whenever something comes up.

    Endou Araya

Blood type: AB
Height/Weight: 165cm/56kg
CHARM: Asterion, Marmyadose
Rare Skill: Phase Transcendence
Position: AZ
Portrayed by: Akira Sekine (Japanese)

  • Depraved Bisexual: Has been confirmed to be bisexual by the creators, and her attitude and actions towards Riri (after she helped defeat a Huge in the first episode) can come off as quite seductive. Kaede is usually there to stop her before she gets too rough though.
  • Establishing Character Moment: The moment we see her in the first episode, she tries to make a scene and try to start a fight with Yuyu, letting viewers know she's quite the showoff.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Is in love with both Ichi and Kusumi, with predictable results — Ichi ignores all her advances, and Soraha is there to defend Kusumi from whatever Araya tries. She doesn't give up on either of them, while still making passes at others as well. The 2023 April Fool's event in Last Bullet throws her a bone by having Araya "eat" Ichi be the solution to stop Araya's rampage.
  • Shipper on Deck: For Ichi and Ena, asking outright about when they will form a Schutzengel relationship.

LG Schwartz Grail

Proponents of the "Fantasy Theory" strategy: to gain understanding of moves like Phantasm users' future sight and then reproduce them, aiming for the apex of both theory and offense. Several members have an aptitude for logical strategic thinking, and they may at times rebuke advice from instructors, gaining them the nickname of "Sage Legion".

    Itou Shizu
Age: 15
Birthday: April 2
Blood type: A
Skills/Interests: Strategic theory
Likes: Bears (as teddy bears or characters)
Dislikes: All insects
CHARM: Gungnir, Bruncvík
Rare Skill: Regista
Position: TZ
Portrayed by: Ayaka Nanase (Japanese)

Riri's roommate and the leader of Schwartz Grail. Given the moniker of "Ice Emperor" for her highly calm approach to assessing Lilies' overall level of ability. Although very logical, there is also a side to her who advises and looks after Riri.

  • Depending on the Writer: Schwartz Grail's origins and Shizu's motivations differ based on which narrator one is following. In the anime, she declines Riri's invitation to join Hitotsuyanagi-tai because Shizu had already decided that she would form her own Legion once she gets into high school. In the Hitotsuyanagi-tai novel, Shizu aimed to become a top-class freelancer together with her Schutzengel Noriko, and according to Fumi (a tweet posted in 2020), chose to form her own Legion after seeing the close bonds between Hitotsuyanagi-tai. Her speech patterns in the novel are also more boyish than the refined feminine speech patterns she has in the anime.
  • Ojou: Her family runs a conglomerate involved with business ventures in industries ranging from the military to transport infrastructure. Unlike Kaede, Shizu cares little for her family's wealth, and they are implied to be a Big, Screwed-Up Family (her elder half-sister Naehi was born to their father's concubine).
  • Otaku: Among her fellow "Lily otakus", Shizu is particularly known for her interest in Lilies' talent. This translates to her application of combat theory based on the strengths, weaknesses, and expected moves of whoever she is working with or wants to work with.
    • Hilariously, during a mission where Shizu is placed in the same unit as Kayo and Fumi, she continuously keeps a cool head and brings them back to focus on the battle at hand when they get carried away, but is eventually drawn into their discussion.
  • The Rival: To Kaede, who considers Shizu competition for Riri's affections; and to Sayu, who is a Friendly Rival.

    Hata Matsuri
Age: 16
Birthday: July 12
Blood type: A
Skills/Interests: Poetry, shogi
Likes: Namerounote
Dislikes: Pickled plums
CHARM: Gungnir, Durandal
Rare Skill: Zenon Paradoxa
Position: BZ
Portrayed by: Tanaka Tomomi (Japanese)

Yuyu's roommate who serves as acting Ortlinde of the student council and chairperson for the grade presidents' conference. She is a kind elder sister figure looked up to by the student body, but terrifying if angered. Also a popular source of guidance with many Lilies seeking her advice.

  • Broken Hero: Print works and Fumi's Twitter explain that Matsuri was scouted for Yurigaoka's elementary school division, but she only enrolled when entering junior high because she wished to fight alongside her childhood friend Uta, who was a year younger. Matsuri and Uta promised they would take the Schutzengel oath when Uta enrolled, but it was not to be as Uta died on the battlefield helping civilians escape — during a battle overseen by Chihana, who had been a close friend to Matsuri till then. The incident drove Matsuri apart from Chihana and pushed her toward the "local first principle", a stance taken by Lilies who do not go on expeditions and focus on their respective Garden's defined area of defense.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Matsuri herself has no aspirations toward the position of Ortlinde, the student council president elected by voting, and was appointed to the role of acting Ortlinde because she was functionally Meika's vice-president. Fumi describes her as one who "wants to lead a quiet and stable school life". It's also suggested that her Overzealous Underling Mimi is a bigger reason for LG Eir's fraught relations with some other Legions, such as Sanngrthr, than Matsuri's actions or decisions as the actual leader. LG Vingólf, Meika's Legion, are also none too pleased that Eir are carrying themselves as though they are the Legion under the Ortlinde's command during Meika's absence.
  • Mentor Archetype: Riri's mentor as a Legion's leader in the BZ position. While Yuyu is Riri's mentor for her combat form, Matsuri is the one who taught her about fighting as a BZ.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Matsuri going to Tokyo to provide support for Hitotsuyanagi-tai in Lost Memories is a case of this, in the context of her and LG Eir being proponents of the "local first principle". This is shown again in Last Bullet when Matsuri, this time together with the rest of Eir, travels to Aogashima during the "Lily Assemble" storyline.

    Kawazoe Misuzu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/misuzu_kawazoe.png
Rare Skill: Uber Sein
Position: TZ/BZ
Portrayed by: Ayako Kawasumi (Japanese), Meli Grant (English)

  • Dead All Along: Is revealed to be dead in the third episode of the anime. Fans familiar with what happened to Misuzu through other media who saw her name in episode 1's credits were more curious as to how she could be talking to Yuyu, which later is explained by that version of Misuzu being a hallucination.
  • Depending on the Writer: The anime's depiction of Misuzu was shaped by director-writer Saeki's vision of her as one with "despair in the depths of her heart" who "loathed herself and everything that wasn't herself". However, the depictions of and references to Misuzu in Last Bullet and Lost Memories, written by different writers, show that she had loved and wanted to protect Yuyu the best she could, even visiting Yuyu in a dream during the "Oath of Schutzengel" storyline.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In Lost Memories, Gozen explains that Misuzu was a Boosted Lily and would have been able to survive the wounds Yuyu inflicted on her, but she chose to use her dying breath on activating Uber Sein instead, placing a block on Yuyu's memories of Saaya in an attempt to ease Yuyu's grief. However, Misuzu failed to account for how her death would impact Yuyu, or the distress Yuyu would be under from having foggy memories of her final moments.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Was impaled by a berserk Yuyu.
