"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan someone add the fact that In Real Life cephalopods have a limb called a hectocotylus that specializes in storing and transfering spermatorphores to females.
Edited by SidapaIsn't this supposed to be redlinked because of the Permanent Red Link Club?
Why is this page three sentences long? If we don't want naughty tropes on the website, that's fine, but then this page shouldn't exist, not even at three sentences. If we're fine with naughty tropes, that's also fine, but the naughty tropes should exist beyond a hollow shell of stating-the-obvious...but that's all you can really fit in three sentences.
Not that I'm complaining but... why is this back?
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. Hide / Show RepliesBecause the Google heat is off, I'm guessing. That and the admins aren't quite so reactionary anymore.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman Hide / Show RepliesIt was removed because it was objectionable to the Adsense people, apparently, and they give the wiki 1/3 of its operating funds. It may come back, depending on what the people at Google say the problem was, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Wow, that's being pretty damn sensitive... sounds like their board is filled with old reactionary aunts.
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me.It makes sense. If they were attracting NSFW advertisements onto the page, then it was too dangerous for the page to exist.
Joke's on the Adsense people, then. I use Adblock, so they can never profit from my browsing.
Also, this page was cut, but All Anime Is Naughty Tentacles wasn't? Somehow, I don't think they thought their cunning plan all the way through.
Edited by ChaoticBrainActually, that means you're denying the wiki funds, too. Ad money is our only source of revenue. Cut off the arm to spite the hand, much?
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.I don't want to start a fight or anything, I've been keeping an eye on the recent page cuts, and I'm starting to get a little paranoid. I mean, I'll have to take your word for it that this page contained content that was objectionable, but the "We do not want" stuff screams 1984. I admit that I actually only started to care when I found out about about Lolita, and since then I have even been kind of afraid to raise any objections at all because of what I perceive to be (although I may be wrong) a climate of censorship. I like it here and don't want to get banned for treading on powerful toes.
Maybe everybody should know about how content effects the ads exactly. You said ads were only 1/3 of the operating funds, and then that they were the only source of revenue. How does this this work, and how did it cause this kind of problem? If it's just sex, then that would put a lot of other tropes in danger, too. If this is not OK, please PLEASE keep in mind that I really am Just Trying to Help.
More pluck than an Alabama banjo festivalNot trying to monopolize the conversation. Just have something to add and I don't like being a ninja unless it's to fix something I've already said.
I have also noticed that the "we do not want" font has gotten smaller. Could be a coincidence, but it might have been done to seem less in-you-face. I like it better that way. It doesn't seem like it's screaming at me anymore.
This has made me hopeful about the prospects of talking down from a purge. I would really like to ask someone about locking the page instead of deleting it. That would be a compromise, because I still believe that it should be free to edit, but I am not deluding myself into believing I have any control over what goes on here.
More pluck than an Alabama banjo festivalWhat, there wasn't a way to disable ads on that page or something? And we have TONS of other sex-related pages, too...are we just going to start excising tropes left and right to please some outside higher power? Are we going to have to just start censoring everything? That makes me nervous. :(
Video games are my life. There is a thread for discussing the new policy. Discussion pages are not the appropriate venue. Take it there. Offtopic comments deleted.
As to ads, we get almost all of our funds from ads. However, Ad Sense only provides 1/3 of those funds, the other 2/3 comes from other ad providers.
We did not have Ad Sense ads on this page and other risque pages. However, they still pulled our ads. We are trying to get clarification from them as to why, but for now we should assume the worst.
Edited by ccoa Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Am I the only one who doesn't understand the association of tentacles with phallic symbols? Last time I checked in biology class, those do not have that kind of flexibility. In my opinion, the only thing they share is that "tentacles" sounds a little bit like "testicles".
Hide / Show RepliesIt's not about flexibility at all. It's about them being similarly long and thin. It really has very little, if anything, to do with real life biological tentacles either.
Isn't this sort of a Dead or Undead Horse Trope? At least for people unfamiliar with anime porn, "hentai" and "tentacles" usually comes up in the same context. Or whenever a girl and a cephalopod are depicted together in any context, there are usually comments to the like of "I've seen enough hentai to know where this is going" and whatever.
Hide / Show RepliesYeah, it probably could be an Undead Horse Trope. The fact that it still pops up in media besides anime might skew that (but honestly, I don't watch this sort of thing, so I can't really say I'm at all an expert).
anyone think there's apt parallels to the mind- controlling tentacle monster of "Space 1999" episode "the Dragon's Domain"? ... the victims were just food, but did look like mind-raped and orgasmicly dazed candidates for the trope - before being slurped up, quickly digested, and spat out for the next morsel ...
a better description lies under Nightmare Fuel - I'm sure - as the beasty was a masterpiece of such monstrous memes and tropes ... (idly submitted during insomnia, btw)
Edited by UncleSumerSuppose a female hacked away at a tentacle monster . . .
Should this be construed as a metaphor for castration?
I’m just that kind of guy, you know? Hide / Show RepliesIt could be, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a specific writer or artist's intent, but not necessarily.
Would a man performing a sex act with a squid that may in fact have been an octopus fit here. it was a cutting on the News Quiz and therefore must be true...
