A couple I'm not sure about:

Discworld: I don't know if it's true to say Cohen is "more greedy and overtly selfish" than Conan. Cohen never cares much about money, taking the view that if you need some, you steal it, and if you have some, you spend it. (Hrun, on the other hand, despite looking more like Conan, gets called out by Liessa for his mercenary attitude. Then again, Conan's motive for adventuring was also frequently a pursuit of riches.) On the other hand, while I'm sure he does love and support Conina (even if he did make her run a Death Course when she was five), it's not exactly a major part of his characterisation, given that Conina is never even mentioned in any book he appears in.

Shrek: "Rumplestiltskin is portrayed as an evil wizard who tricks people into giving him what he wants". Isn't that exactly what Rumplestiltskin is in the original fairy tale?

Can there be a Corrupted Character Copy of a real person, or is that a different trope? I've just discovered a novel where a major character is clearly meant to be a No Celebrities Were Harmed British Jim Henson ... if The Dark Crystal had been a flop that destroyed his career and turned him into a bitter misanthrope.

From the Futurama examples: I've never seen the show, but does Kif's original characterization count? Disliking someone who's not portrayed very favorably doesn't seem very "corrupted".

Hey there, does Pan-Dora from the The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy episode "Pandora's Lunchbox" count, since she is based on Dora The Explorer. Except she is wicked and manipulative unlike the original character

The page creator claimed this came from You Know That Thing Where but I see no evidence that this page ever had a draft, much less had enough hats to launch. I've searched the 2019 launches but maybe someone else can find it before I raise more concerns. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/launches.php?page=28

That's why he wants you to have the money. Not so you can buy 14 Cadillacs but so you can help build up the wastes

I took over the draft and launched it, looking through my history, I found the TLP draft here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/discussion.php?id=do40fr5g65dlsekgqjqbmo0c

The Banner says it was Nuked, but it had 22 Hats and 11 Bombs at the time I launched it.

I was, I think, the third person to take stewardship of the draft.

I'd like to contribute an example, but I'd like to read some input from others before adding it to make sure it applies for this trope and how best to write it up if it does.

  • Soul Series: Iska Farkas, introduced in Soulcalibur Legends, is basically a send-up of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. They are both adolescents who are highly knowledgeable in the field of alchemy and each have a Dark and Troubled Past in which they tragically lose a female family member (Edward's mother and Iska Farkas' sister in their respective cases) who they unsuccessfully attempted to bring back to life. Also notable is that he even has Edward's V.A.s in both Japanese and English to reinforce this connection. However, as per this trope, Iska Farkas is a darker take on Edward. Whereas Edward has a strong moral foundation and is also wise enough to accept what can and cannot be changed, Iska Farkas is a sociopath who covertly pits various people against each other in an effort to acquire both Soul Edge and Soulcalibur in an effort to destroy the world and recreate one the world back when his sister was still alive.
