openStranged By the Red String, HTTYD: Hidden World Film
"Not only is applying this to a couple of animals weird on itself but a solid third of the movie is dedicated to the courtship. If you don't like it, put it in broken base, but this does not fit SBTRS"
So I added this example because, while the movie's about Toothless and the Light fury, it's not about their courtship; they have one scene dedicated to their courtship. They pretty much fall in love at first sight, have their four minute "first date", and the rest of the movie is about their relationship taking precedence over literally every other character, relationship, priority, and theme HTTYD has ever presented to us. Thoughts?

open Soldier jerking off in cubicle Film
It was an older kind if movie. I'm just guessin but I think it aired (In Sweden, channel 6) between 2000-2012... What I remember is, that a guy had to join the marines/navy or such, and he had to leave his wife/girlfriend behind. The only scene I remember is when he went into a bathroom cubicle and TRIED jerking off to his wifes/gfs photograph. For some reason, he couldn't get off to it. I think he was afraid she was cheating on him. That's just my theory. I also remember that while he was at it, someone knocked on the cubicle and asked if he was alright. He didn't get caught cause they left after he replied. He just said yeah, and they told him to hurry up. Also, he wasn't sitting he was leaning on the door. Please help me find this movie. It's so frustration to remember it so clearly, and yet I can't find it. I've already checked Jarhead 1-3 and none of them are right.
openWhat Next? Film
Is there an option on the T Vtropes site where you can view progressive tropes? Say I'm looking at the trope of "You said you'd let her go!" Trope, and I wanted to see possible trope outcomes that can come about to resolve the trope.
I'm plotting a scene similar to the "You Said you'd let her go!" trope, but I wrote myself in a corner on how to get out of it. I don't know the names of the tropes that would be good outcomes. Is there a section of the trope's page of trope outcomes to select and look up?
open Disney Channel Movie about kids in desert Film
Aired on Disney Channel I’d guess around 2010. Has sequels. A couple of kids were in a village in a desert. A truck rams through a house, they escape. Are eventually in an inventor’s lab. Get “attacked” by a machine that they figure out is made to take off your coat
Edited by ZacharyMarylesopenNew WDHV Database Film
In November, MrServoRetro added some info about 1980 VHS tapes to Creator.Walt Disney Home Video, despite the deletion of all of the pages holding such detail. Did he have permission to do so? The sight of an empty 1981 folder — not to mention the absence of any other years — makes me fear that still, not enough Tropers have enough interest in the subject to justify such a database here.
openThe Matter of Spoilers on Characters/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse Film
Okay, people, let's talk about this some.
As you can see here, we're having some trouble deciding what exactly justifies the use of spoiler tags on the Into the Spider-Verse character page. It's not an edit war per sé but it could easily cause one. I'm not sure exactly what should be done about any of it, except for one thing: I feel like the Dr. Octopus entry needs to become an Unmarked Spoilers folder because there's no way to trope this movie's Doc Ock in any meaningful way without discussing information that constitutes spoilers.
Let's discuss it.
open Aquaman as a DesignatedHero Film
According to Forenperser, Aquaman from the movie of the same name is a Designated Hero because because he leaves Black Manta's father to drown in front of his son even though he could have easily saved him and just have him imprisoned was definitely an un-heroic thing to do. He states that the standard procedure for criminals is not being left to drown, but to be taken into custody in our justice system. A Designated Hero is a character in a story who, despite being presented as heroic, is actually a Jerkass at best and an arguable villain at worst. This is not the same as the deliberately morally ambiguous Anti-Hero. From the praise they receive from other characters, the narrative, and perhaps Word of God, it is plain that the audience is expected to like and root for the Designated Hero; instead, they have problems that can even inspire pity or, on rare occasions, disgust. They are often mean people with no redeeming qualities aside from some superficial virtues. They do not undergo appreciable character development and they're generally given a pass by the writers, freeing them from the consequences of their actions.
Edited by MasterHeroopenIndicating a page is a stub? Film
Hello, I just created a new page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Film/OnceUponATimeInHighSchool
But I was wondering if there's any way to indicate that it's a stub like in Wikipedia so other people can contribute to it. Because I doubt I'm the only one who's seen this movie.
openLink to a YouTube Comment that I want to put up Film
I want to put a link to a comment I did on a You Tube Video of How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World TV Spot #4 on the Trivia Page for How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, but I am having trouble with it. Can you help me with this please? Thank You. :)
open Is this page troping real people or not? Film
The WMG page for Boys Don't Cry feels more like it's troping the actual people rather than their portrayal in the bio-pic. Is this okay?
Edited by Pichu-kunopen Character Death in the Star Wars character sheets Film
One thing I've discovered while working on the Star Wars character sheets is that there are some Character Death entries. As some of us know, Character Death is an omnipresent trope and is a super trope to Karmic Death, Redemption Equals Death, Dropped a Bridge on Him, etc.
As such, I have a question for fellow tropers: should just keep the Character Death entries or remove them altogether?
Edited by gjjonesopenEstablishing shot of a bar Film
Whenever characters are in a bar with waitress service, it must be shown to be so by having an establishing shot of a waitress walk by the camera carrying an order of drinks on a tray.
There's usually some male gaze going on, since the waitress is shown from the knees up with generally low-cut outfits.
What's the name of this trope? If it doesn't have a name, can anyone suggest one?
open Captain Marvel 2019 YMMV Film
Can the Captain Marvel movie's YMMV come back up the the film may be a base breaker for some despite not being out yet but Ghostbuster 2016 and other films had similar flak before their release and their YMMV pages stay up. I am not trying to take sides on where the film will be good or bad, but I still feel the that the controversy surronding the film does not warrant the page's removal.
openSome Like It Hot Trivia Film
Does anyone have a source to back up Trivia. Some Like It Hot reporting that the first draft ended with, "I know", instead of, "Well, nobody's perfect!"? When I listened to the commentary from the 1989 Laserdisc (recycled for the recent Criterion Blu-Ray), it stated that the first draft still ended with, "Well, nobody's perfect!"
Edited by dsneybufopen An animated movie cliche Film
There's this animated movie cliche where right before the third act climax, the main characters get into a big fight/argument and temporarily separate before coming back together, reconcile and get ready for the final fight against the main antagonist.
You've seen it happen in films like Toy Story, Shrek, The Secret Life of Pets, Emperor's New Groove, Despicable Me 3, Home on the Range, Boss Baby, Madagascar 2, etc.
Is there a trope name for this?
openLaconic.AvengersEndgame Film
The Laconic.Avengers Endgame was deleted with reason "Works don't need laconic pages". If this is so - is someone going through each work and deleting them all? If not, Let's bring it back.
So I added an entry under Tearjerker, a person called phylos chopped it up, and their edit reason was "Not only this was an incorrect detailing of what happened, it's also a weird attempt to anthromorphosize Toothless, who's never been portrayed as anything more than an animal."
Like, okay, fine, I got it. This person and I have different thoughts on the movie. However, they have an odd agenda against any edits portraying Toothless as anything but a nonsentient animal, which is patently wrong. It's getting annoying.
