Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
It can likely be taken to the Expy thread, but there does seem to be... a lot going on here.
Zein's character sheet is where the Alternate Company Equivalent examples are from. I would think if it's anything like Expy being the equvalent to three very different characters would be disqualifying.
I also... question the Allegorical Character entry. Not that Hobbes is an obscure political philosopher but it feel like the entry is pretty general for such a bold claim.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I am completely with you. I've always felt that the Kamen Rider pages have had issues with this sort of thing, and that it feels like it's down to one or two tropers jumping to regularly making comparisons (even with other Kamen Rider series) without thinking about whether they were intentional on the part of production.
Go ahead and cut them.
Expy cleanup has affirmed the examples are misuse, so I cut them.
There's still the question of the Memetic Mutation and Spiritual Adaptation entries comparing Zein to Friend Computer and the plot itself to Paranoia when no such remarks or memes actually exist outside the YMMV page to my knowledge. Are those safe to cut, or should we look for verification?
(There's also a Friendly Fandoms example that also makes the non-existent connection to SSBU, but I'm more ready to cut that than those.)
"If you spent as much time fightin' as ye did hidin', maybe this wouldn't have happened!"If the comparisons between Kamen Rider Outsiders and Paranoia (and others) don't exist outside of this site, then it's okay to cut them (personally they already seem dubious enough to cut).
THE GOLDEN AGE WILL RETURN AGAIN!Bringing this back up to point out that the person who made the edits mentioned here (~rr3elite) is still making non-existent connections in the same pages.
Now, they're calling Zein a Char Clone (not valid, CCA-era Char's Dark Messiah acts are a common villain plot and Zein doesn't fulfill most of the criteria listed in the trope description) while also using this to post a Fan Nickname example likening Outsiders to Char's Counterattack (which, again, I have never seen in any toku circle.) There's also another FN example that says a specific scene is an objective allegory to Order 66 (same problems as the Paranoia examples I previously cut, plus the fact that Order 66 was a directive to cull a specific group and not the entire human race.)
I am looking to cut again, but feel like they should be called in at this point.
Edited by TrocyteV "If you spent as much time fightin' as ye did hidin', maybe this wouldn't have happened!"I already deleted them. Sorry if I went overboard.
While browsing the page for Kamen Rider Outsiders, I've noticed several errant comparisons being made in both main and YMMV to unrelated pieces of media. Specifically, there are examples in both YMMV and main comparing it and/or its antagonist Zein to characters in Paranoia, Digimon, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The problem is that I'm tuned in to several tokusatsu circles, and these comparisons have never come up even once. The Alternate Company Equivalent examples are also misuse in the SSBU and Digimon examples, as Kamen Rider does not compete with either; furthermore, the specific characters cited (Galeem in SSBU, Leviathan in Digimon) are up to seven years older than Outsiders, and therefore any resemblance to them is almost certainly a coincidence. The Paranoia examples also feel like even more of a stretch, considering it's a very old western work that, despite being a Trope Namer, seems to at least be in the realm of Mainstream Obscurity. I thus believe these are a singular troper's views being projected into the page.
The pages for Kamen Rider have historically suffered in quality (and I'm decently convinced similar odd examples are on other pages for the franchise but can't remember where), but I was wondering if it would be safe to start here before gunning for cleanup. Is it safe to remove these for being a stretch?
