Minor correction: the plural form of “taxon” is “taxa”.

Uber drivers can charge an extra fee if the passenger makes a mess of the car. Of course, they can only apply this AFTER the passenger leaves, so unfortunately drivers can abuse this policy when they passenger DIDN'T make a mess, and be charged an unnecessary $30 - $50 dollars, which Uber cannot prevent.

Cape Horn is in South America. I thought it was in Africa.

The one in South Africa is the Cape of Good Hope, the point at which (if you're sailing around Africa, as you had to do to get from Europe to India before the Suez Canal was built) you can turn your ship more to the east than south. On such a long journey, where large stretches of your way are without any safe harbour, it must have been an amazing feeling to get to turn around so much, even if the actual southern peak of Africa would be further south, still.

That was also where the Dutch founded a colony that would become one of the major cities of South Africa, Cape Town.
