During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk
to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.

Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

@Doodslayer: Unlikley. Being taken by the Dark Presence alone makes you its puppet. Control does have files that imply Hartman retained some of his own mind, but to what extent isn't clear. By the time The Dark Presance and The Hiss played tug of war with him, it's made very clear there is little if anything left of the original Hartman there anymore.

@Tvtropesfan as for Roundabout, I think it was discussed before, and it was determined he wasn’t bad enough to qualify. (Unless the effects of that ice age is still felt, that counts as Offscreen Villainy)

Theirs also the fact generic freeze/flood the world plans are a dime a dozen in kids films. Unless a bodycount is attached to it its not that special.

- Sayuri Higuchi, Morito's master, openly talks about using children as experiments and making them into soldiers, and has no problems with getting rid of them when they outlive their use. One of her experiments with children, done so she could gain the ability to use "Dead Language," involved using 10,000 subjects as guinea pigs, of whom 90 percent died or were incapacitated. When an experiment was successful, she would chop the limbs of those that it worked on, and graft it onto herself.
- Alex Valentine Wheeler Jr. shows he's a nasty customer by ambushing the heroine Kotonoha and tying her down before sexually assaulting her. He gleefully enjoys seeing her struggle and shifting through her multiple personalities until she realizes she's helpless. Later, he decides to murder two girls he was in charge of protecting solely to piss off Kotonoha's escort Morito by presenting him with their dismembered arms.
So uh...Alex is revealed in latest chapters to be a wie sent by the American governmnet to cause stress to kotonha as they need to discover her personalities as one could threaten the world....
Plus he didn't actually kill those girls. Their his second in commands...so he uh faked it.
Even ignoring that his partner Sayuri who turns kids into suicide bombers is way worse them him.
Sayuri is revealed to have an fe. She was raped and experimented on which led to her insanity and violent mindset as she belived that violence was the natural state of things. She dies in her adopted son's Morito hands telling him she really did love him and that he was the only thing that ever gave her happiness in her life.
