During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

to Arkham
Dr. Arkham.
Arkham.
Why so serious?Yes to Arkham, and the Ghostbusters trio (Craniac/Corpsicle/Gristle). Also, popping in real quick for a quick question: a while back I reserved the discussion date for the final Shovel Knight expansion King of Cards back when it was still stuck in development hell, only for someone to have deleted it at some point. I'm not mad since all I had to do was quickly re-add it, but I'm curious: who deleted it and why?
Also, another thing: I said I'd be late with discussing Bug Fables since I thought I'd be getting the game around Christmastime. Problem is, I was going to buy the Switch version... which apparently isn't coming out until around early 2020. For some reason. I doubt anyone cares since like, probably no one here played the PC release, but does anyone mind if we push back the discussion date to accomodate the console release?
Popping in just to say (a little unnecessarily might I add) that the postgame villains in Sword/Shield Sordward and Shielbert do not count either. Too goofy and they get redeemed as does Chairman Rose. So yeah... We're stuck with only three Canon Pokemon Game CMs.

Arkham
Banshee
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."@Fried, the page history shows that AurstinDR cut it, though both G-Editor and Siverblade2 apparently cut it and replaced it beforehand, it was likely an accident on Austin's part.
Also Arkham and Banshee

My In Death stuff.

To this end, Palmer kidnaps people and tortures them to near death before reviving them with his electrical torture system and then repeating the process over and over again till their bodies give in with one victim lasting three days. After being sent to prison by Eve, Palmer swears revenge against her and the others at his trial and upon escaping starts to pick them off one by one, with Palmer taking Eve's friend Mira hostage and threatening to torture her to death if Eve doesn't replace her.

Along with the. more sympathetic Dr. Ivcoe, Jonah used the DNA of deceased Urban-War era orphans in order to illegally clone them and then mold them into Sex Slaves for willing buyers, using them as forced incubators for his latest clones, or creating them to be expendable spies or soldiers like Deena Flavia for the highest bidders. After Deena begins to take out the leaders of his organization including Ivcoe, Wilson is revived as a clone himself along with Ivcoe who he promptly murders for having second thoughts. A complete egotsist who refuses to accept any responsibility for anything he's done, Jerry plans to brutally whip and beat to death his best friend and is completely happy to bask in the wave of attention his murders receive.
Hmm, looks like the trilogy is unofficially called the "German cinema trilogy", so Arkham can go after Lutor on the Superman page (Lutor doesn't need to go on the Batman page).
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsErrrm, bout Lutor...
Okay, so I'm wondering if 11 didn't leave out a few, shall we say, pertinent details when proposing him...
What is it......?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."What? Oh this can't be good.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadNamely that Lutor's feelings for Marta may not be so easily dismissed. While he did murder her in a fit of rejected rage, he comments he 'loved her no less when he killed her.' This is something I'd kind of ignore if not for his dying word being Marta's name.
I'm kind of "ugh" about the "murder your unrequited crush" being played with any level of sympathy for...obvious reasons, but Lutor's final moment should be scrutinized a touch more and 11 didn't even mention it.
Hmm, that is a bit problematic.
BTW, looking at Wiki, I'm guessing nobody from the Wonder Woman story's bad enough?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsCorrect.
