During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

Akaza seems like a douche, but not heinous enough (what happens to him?).
Bishou...tries to kill numerous women and children? I'd say that may push him into CM territory.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsRevenger duo
Queen La.
Jot me down for Quote C.
@Elfen: Been keeping up with Chivalry of a Failed Knight. Those two aren't heinous enough despite an awful move or two.
A cruel, sick joke is still a joke, and sometimes all you can do is laugh.@Erazor Think I can make a case a bit just for Bishou. Akaza I think, he isnt heinous.
@ACW What happens to Akaza? He got knocked out by Stella and then got fired from his position so yeah... A well deserved fate for him.
Oh and sure to the Revenger duos.

"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Carlos' dragon and La.
BTW, has anyone seen the pothole I found in Sense8?
Yeah, cut it.
So, quote C it seems to be then.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsHas anyone heard of the TMNT Live-Action Films getting a reboot?
IPP Wick Check created.to No Name and Queen La (considering the fact Tarzan is the second most adapted literary character after Dracula and Sherlock Holmes, their is probably a lot of other candidates out there. Someone should look into the original La, she sounds nasty.)
Yes to Revenger stuff, no to La.
La is in no way shape or form a keeper from the novels.
Was she less evil or more heroic in the novels?
I want to EP a character from Assassin's Creed Sydnicate, but he only has two attempted crimes which would result in great number of victims had he suceeded.
PM if someone of you played game.
I found this under Sin senos sí hay paraíso:
- Complete Monster: Martin, Catalina the Elder's previous boss at the DEA, who not only tricked her into believing she was being blamed for the escape of el Titi but use that opportunity to kidnap her and have her locked in a house in the middle of nowhere, having being obsessed with her since he met her. To top it all, that place was where he kept other victims who not only did he tortured and raped, but he also killed and ate them.
@MasterJoseph: I thought those movies were a reboot. ...Are they rebooting a reboot now? :/
TMNT: Out of the Shadows kinda did leave a couple things hanging. It's really frustrating when something doesn't make enough money, so they just say "Eh fuck it. Just start over until we get rich enough to have our own Shared Universe."

I write stories and shiz. You can read them here.Hey no one complained when Spiderman Homecoming did it. Unless your one of those guys whose pet peeves reboots being made when previous instalments still had loose ends to tie in their story.
Speaking of, fun fact; did you guys know that one of the reasons Sony's plans for The Amazing Spiderman didn't go through was because Andrew Garfield didn't show up to an event because he was sick ?

"It's like...a cliff, and if I do it, I'm just gonna...fall." "I think we're already falling."I'm serious about this reboot happening.
The producers behind the film A Quiet Place are rebooting the live-action films.
We could hope this film can be better than Michael Bay's reboot.
IPP Wick Check created. You can't reboot a reboot. This cannot end well.
@ElfenLiedFan90
Just a note: Bishou is not the leader of the terrorist organization (Rebellion), he's just a mid-ranking member and is outranked by the Tyrant and the Numbers. Plus, one of the Numbers, Or-Gaule, overshadows Bishou, though the majority of his crimes are in the currently untranslated volumes. I'm not sure how that will factor into your EP.
Also, the anime (covers only the first 3 volumes) has minor deviations from canon and probably won't continue into any volumes featuring the more heinous Rebellion members.

Whoa, Bugfragged. I don't remember seeing you here. Are you new?
@11 Actually Bugfrag had been on this thread before you were.
IPP Wick Check created.11, just to spare you some trouble later: anyone can join in or comment. No need to remark on it overmuch
Alright.
Another thing I wanted to bring up but couldn't get around myself was a rewrite on The Cancer Man of The X-Files. I'd do the rewrite myself but I haven't been into the series in years and just now started looking back into it on account of the Comic Book/30DaysOfNight crossover. As such I don't have the right context to make a rewrite myself but is current one looks a little hammy for my taste.
His current entry reads as such.
- The Cigarette Smoking Man, also known as the Cancer Man, is Agent Mulder and Agent Scully's main antagonist, the villain of the Myth Arc, and the only Complete Monster who's not a Monster of the Week. He's associated with the grand government conspiracy Mulder and Scully are trying to uncover. While some of the conspirators are Well Intentioned Extremists, Cancer Man doesn't fit the bill. Whenever it would appear that he showed compassion or altruism, he in fact tried to manipulate people or played evil tricks on them. He had numerous means to neutralize his opponents, but he often chose especially cruel ways. For instance, he tried to burn Mulder alive and let Scully be abducted and experimented on, which gave her cancer and made her infertile. He had his ex-wife and mother of his son turned into an alien-human hybrid. He attempted to murder his own son in cold blood; said son survived, and Cigarette Smoking Man had him experimented on in unspeakable ways. He did save the Agents' lives a couple of times, or at least he didn't interfere with their attempts of saving each other, but he admitted he did it because it's satisfying to see their spirits crushed. Although he claims he wants to atone in "En Ami", it's clear doesn't want it enough to actually change and he never feels guilty.
Anyone want to judge on my Chivalry of the Failed Knight post in the previous page before I make an EP on those two?
