This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Hello. So, I was apparently edit-warring and a zero context example on the Characters/Super Mario Logan Recurring Characters page which got me suspended for that. So, after realising my mistake, I have read the rules and I have learnt my lesson.
I apologise if i upset any one.
I have autism plus brain damage from a neo-natal stroke. I'm not 100%.. Because the damage from the stroke means my impulse control and mental filter is poor, a lot of people mistake it for me being "abnormal". I lack the "red traffic light" in my head that people who don't have stroke damage have. The neurologist i saw about my epilepsy (another stroke legacy) a few weeks ago said he could tell I'd had a stroke when very young as the structure around my eyes was different on the side affected by the stroke.

Everyone is responsible for learning the rules, even those on the autism spectrum. If you have a problem with that, then you can stay banned.

Hello TV Tropes faculty. I hope whatever I did wasn’t too negative.
I came on the site about one or two hours ago to find out I was suspended from the forums (based on the notice I get when I try to post, though other site functions seem intact). I’m not 100% sure what it was I did that got me suspended, as I didn’t get a message saying what it was, but I’m sorry for any disobedience I may have demonstrated.
I assume it was related to interacting with decade-old threads (on a particular thread like that my post was thumped as I linked to Shakespeare Sonnet 116 in response to the thread being about morals, which was seen as irrelevant). I thought this would be encouraged, as threads seem to follow a theme of minimalism. Sorry for assuming.
If it’s not too much to ask, may I appeal my forum suspension, or even if not, know why I was suspended? It’s one of the nicest forums I’ve been to, and I vow to caution myself better against disobeying unspoken rules as well as the spoken rules I’m better at taking into consideration.

@Synchronicity: I would like to reiterate that I have learned my lesson in regards to editing pages and the Edit Wars I've been accidentally triggering.
I have violated the rules two times now. To do it a third time would be to kiss my editing privileges goodbye.

~alnair20aug93: We appreciate your apology on the shoehorns and trope misuse. Remember to check that the page you're linking to is a trope (you should be crosswicking the example anyway).
We also need to review Edit War procedures while you're here. In some other situation, when your example is (you feel) unjustly removed, what should you do? Review the policy article before answering.
~brb1006: You've mostly avoided grammar issues since you were last here, but we are concerned about the large number that you've collected, especially since you're up to 8 ZCE notifiers. Also, while you haven't received a notifier for Wall of Text writing, that and Speculative Troping are on our radar for problems that you've been having. To start with, do you understand what we mean by "speculative troping"?
~Cardboard Bot: Our forums are not places for untreated mental health issues. That's like allowing people who are vomiting and bleeding to walk around a department store. We aren't equipped to do anything. We'd like to say "do anything more than recognize a problem", but we aren't really qualified to do even that. Your friend has been warned before that self-care is too important to waste time on a frivolous pursuit like our website and based on your posts and PM conversations, we are concerned about you needing the same sort of warning.
~Lightysnake: Most of your contributions have been a big help. We'd estimate nine out of ten posts of yours are reaching out to other people with different views, looking for compromises, and trying to understand the other side in a debate. Then there's the tenth; the shutting down of other editors in a way that's not quite nasty enough to get thumped. We are also aware that you are nastier about it when speaking privately.
We'd like to keep you around and encourage you to do more with the site, but those "tenth" posts and the negative attitude is a problem that we won't tolerate, either. This "it can't be me, it must be other people who are failing" is a symptom of an echo chamber in a clique. As you can probably guess, the moderation team was juggling a lot in preparation for this weekend and we are trying to be a bit more ready to respond than usual, but the trade-off was responding less frequently here. We apologize for leaving you unanswered for so long.
We recognize that a part of the wiki holds you in high esteem, in a somewhat unofficial position of authority, as a voice of experience and knowledge. Which means that it is problematic that outside of your Complete Monster "responsibilities", you are not as skilled an editor as we would expect. For example, you've collected a total of 12 ZCE notifiers. Normally we might excuse that as past behaviour (especially since you didn't receive any notifiers for this since January at least), but a review of your recent non-CM edits demonstrate a consistent repetition of this problem.
Taking a few from last month as examples:
- Changing spelling — Most of your corrections were appropriate, but "behaviours" and "indignance" were already correctly spelled.
- PCE — We can certainly agree that the example, as written, didn't have enough context for Knight of Cerebus, but you didn't use an edit reason to explain why you changed it and it still doesn't have enough context for VVSS.
- PCE — Again, you didn't explain why you changed the trope attached to the example, and this time it did have enough context, but is now lacking the detail on why this is "fake".
That you are a role model to many of our other editors and demonstrating the wrong sort of editing is a more severe problem than if you were "just another editor".
~Mermaid Eyes 15: Yes! Hallo, again. Excellent. We wanted to talk about the issue, too. But first, um, can you explain why, after we blocked you from posting in only the Projects subforums you never posted anywhere else until the CM discussion moved to Wiki Talk?

Please read over Edit War and tell us at least three places where you can collect such opinions on this wiki. After all, we don't expect every editor agree, so we have a policy for when that happens and we need consensus for an example.

~Computery Guy 1614: Welcome to TV Tropes! We wouldn't normally suspend such a new editor for Zero-Context Example, but you crossed one of our "iron rules" that'll get you suspended almost as soon as it is discovered; an Edit War. Can you summarize our policy on edit wars in your next post here?
~Tree-Pencil: Welcome to the Suspensions thread! This is where you go to resolve suspensions and the issues that caused them. As you should've read in What to Do If You Are Suspended, the suspension is to guarantee that you discuss the problem with us before potentially repeating the issue.
Your guess at why you were suspended is partially correct. It wasn't just the decade-old threads, it was also the random coven threads. Since the problem happened across multiple forums, we weren't satisfied with suspending only one area.
We, uh, do have written rules about low-effort posts. Mostly summarized as "always contribute something new to the discussion".

Okay. I understand. I wasn't venting, but being way too open and honest. I wasn't gonna hurt myself or go the full way by killing myself(and besides, I'm way too much of a wussy to do it and my religion doesn't allow it). The grinder stuff was just me getting curious over if an actual body part got ground up instead of some rubber version of it. The chair stairs thing...yeah, I may I have a little problem there, but those kinds of thoughts have decreased drastically. I pretty much only think about it when I'm thinking about my suspension, really. Probably something related to how I like dark and gritty stuff and frequently think about what would happen if I sided.

- Regarding American and Commonwealth Spellings: Yeah, I got no viable defense for that.
- On a different but not unrelated topic (and, in fact, why I might have made those changes: If the US and British TITLES are different, which is used (a Google search turned up nothing)?
- For the first Knight of Cerebus thing, I should've just added something like "Since this is a film and not a continuous work like a TV series or manga, Knight of Cerebus doesn't apply."

If I feel like my edits are (unjustly) removed, instead of reverting it promptly, I should PM the person who changed or deleted my entry. In the case where they're not responding or they're rude, inquire at the Ask The Tropers section or the forums. If it's part of a legitimate cleanup process, then I should check the forums and its contents before I should inquire my confusion or disagreements.

Thanks for notifying me, while I had been getting a bit better on my editing skills (although I struggle not to create a Wall of Text). I also have a bit of trouble understanding "Speculative Troping". I rarely bring this up, but I have "Asperger/Autism Syndrome" making my way of understanding things very difficult depending on the situation. I reread the Speculative Troping a couple times, but I mostly prefer checking out the "Laconic" page for a simpler explanation (not in a lazy way).
I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to cause any trouble/problems and get suspended. I just wanted to find perfect tropes to give love to less-known media that's obscure in the West (especially pages that hadn't been updated for a while). I'm also genuinely sorry for the amount of ZCE notifications I gave some of you guys.

Hello again, great we can talk. For why I never really posted anything again, tbh I was just embarrassed about the situation I caused and thought it’d be good to get off TVT for a bit, than I didn’t really edit much due to being unsure what to edit exactly, although I had made some sperattic edits here and there. It was only until when the CM/MB channels were locked and under evaluation and I got my fanfics done, so I now I had material to edit more and since it’s been a bit over 5 months since me getting thumped happen, decided to message here to talk about it.
