Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I suppose they can hide the violence and genocide behind the cutesy visuals...
...but how are they going to deal with the theme of confronting your own mortality?
8 year olds understand the concept of death.
I know. It just seems a bit morbid for a kids show to do the whole "your gonna die someday and all you can do is accept it" bit.
I know they mean, those are heavy themes, how do you makes those suitable for younger viewers to swallow and comprehend without scaring them?
The simple answer is that you do it carefully,yes,8 year old might understand the concept of death, but when that's your general audience you need to package the themes of your story in a way that doesn't frighten them too much, soften it,don't bowdlerize it though. As a side note Avatar the last air bender featured an on going genoside against Airbenders and it was fine for children to watch
New theme music also a boxFreakin' Sesame Street had an episode about the concept of death. It's something kids can handle. Hell, screw can. I say need to.
But is it even going to be a kid's show?
The news article people are citing says so.

Oh. Shouldn't have skimmed. Thank you for enabling my laziness!
I'm kinda relieved actually. "Adult" animation has been getting a boost lately (Thanks to the success of Castlevania, maybe?) but I rarely see them doing much with it being throwing a lot of blood and gore in. And I certainly don't want them to try that with IX.
IX deals with some heavy themes but its still a pretty bright and optimistic entry with a fairly colourful and cartoonish cast that lends well to the younger demographic.
I’m pretty sure 8 to 13 was pretty much IX’s intended audience in the first place. Also don’t forget, Avatar: The Last Airbender, a show dealing with racism, genocide, war, and cultural appropriation was geared towards a 6 to 12 year old demographic. Not to mention there’s plenty of other examples of recent cartoons aimed at a similar audience that deal with heavy topics. At worst they’ll probably just tone down some of Zidane’s more pervy antics (“Ooh, soft!”) and some of the more risqué character designs (I will be shocked if they don’t tone down Kuja’s outfit).
Also, funny coincidence, apparently this animation studio consists of som former staff of Ex Machina, the former 3D animation studio that helped with IX’s CG cutscenes.

I actually don't know if they will tone down the outfits, considering it's a french studio behind it and what I can remember from the likes of (french-created) Code Lyoko and Totally Spies! makes me think they could maybe squeak by.
As for content, considering what cartoons have had since Avatar, I don't see much concern for the themes of IX being sanitized
Silence is golden, noise is platinum. Keelah se'laiLooking at the studio’s work, it’s totally going to be neutered.
Hey all, what's happening?
(Final Fantasy IX is getting an animated series.)
Huh. I'll be goddamned. But then, out of all the Final Fantasies, I always thought IX was the one that would be easiest to translate into a family-friendly animated series or movie for the 8-13 year old crowd.
Actually really remarkable because not long ago, I brought up the idea of giving IX the remake treatment VII is getting now.
For reference, Cyber Group has done shows like Droners, 50/50 Heroes, and Mirette Investigates. Pretty sure most of these are big cases of No Export for You everywhere except France, but having references are better than having none at all, I guess. Also remarkable is that this project holds the distinction of being Cyber Group's first foray into the 8-13 year old demographic (all those other shows I mentioned are target for 6-12 guys), so hooray for milestones!
I just hope we'll be able to watch this in the United States. Like through Netflix. And also it's good. Fingers crossed!

I’d say that, out of the mainline games at least, you can easily make kid-friendly shows about I, III, and V.
Weird, I was just wondering about adapting FF IX as an animated series.
I even had a fancast, like Little Kuriboh as Kuja.
And speaking of him, I do wonder if Kuja would keep his usual design or his better alternate costume from Dissidia NT.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Well it is a French production so maybe Kuja's attire will be kept intact.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."What do you mean?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.French people are horny.
Like, super horny.
Like 50% of all sex in Canada happens in Quebec.
Guess Zidane is a great first protagonist for this studio.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.will they have Zidane playing footie
New theme music also a boxIf they made a kid's show out of V they'd have to update a lot of the pop culture references!
Life is more fun with infinite MP.V I would have expected to be the one to be the kids show. That one is light hearted as all heck.
Final Fantasy 8 is practically an anime,it even has a high school setting

New theme music also a boxSquall doesn't have that shounen protagonist energy, though. Ironically, Seifer got all taht.
Going back to the TV show
Its mostly likely getting to be set during Zidane's time growing up with the theatre crew, that would roughly be in line with their target age demographic, though they'll likely make Baku less abusive,or not.

New theme music also a box
Do you think well get Bryce Papenbrook and J.D. Cullum back as Zidane and Kuja.
