In the void between worlds, two beings scanned a set of notes.

> While there were flaws in the execution, the idea of populating a specially-made space for use as an idea generator is a sound one. I believe we can iterate on the design, don't you?

One of the beings, resembling a collection of monitors, server racks, and other assorted parts, responded to the text box that appeared in his vision. What sort of changes do you have in mind? For every syllable, the display of one of the monitors fluctuated a bit, like the world's most unintuitive waveform. Particularly toward the end, people were growing deeply dissatisfied, even beyond the expected stress of being kidnapped from their worlds. I assume you would prefer to avoid something so tedious again.

> [Affirmative] Naturally. And there will, of course, be differences in style.

A scrawl of text like the output of a command line program appeared to the left of the second being, whose presence was indicated only by the floating words exchanged with its assistant. The text first appeared as a strange language that would be incomprehensible to a being not on their level, but after a few moments morphed rapidly between what might have been a very long series of bits, a low-level programming language, a high-level programming language, and plain text in that order. In the space between realities appears a deserted world. A city with no residents, though it had the room and resources for many.

> You will be there as well, as you might expect.

That should be no problem, if it is simply a matter of engaging with organics. In fact, broadly speaking, I find it rather enjoyable.

The scrawling text grew in length, each new segment undergoing the same transformation as the last. 51.2 square kilometers of urban flux, none of which remained in the same place from moment to moment. Though for now the sourceless wind whistled through empty streets, in a few moments that would not be the case. For 25 days, they would be alive with voices from across the realities. The lost ones, dragged into a new game+.

Merry Day After Christmas, Tvtropes! City of Lost Characters has returned in accordance with the words of Nostradamus. I'm Ocean, and with the blessing of the past GM I am now helming Season 2: New Game Plus!

This is, like its predecessor, an MMFRPG-style crossover game starring a hodgepodge of characters thrust from their home dimensions to a strange city in the space between worlds. Every day some new effect takes hold, altering the city or perhaps its residents for its duration. Shall they make friends amongst themselves and the other unfortunate saps stuck with them, or just snap from the stress? Who's to say?

(Hint: it's you. You are to say.)

Knowledge of COLC1, while nifty, is not required, so don't worry if you missed that train.

  • Remember the RP rules and forum rules.
  • One character per player, to start with, and no OCs of your own creation. This may change as time passes.
    • They must be a character, ie. not a random encounter, red shirt, etc.
    • "Duo characters" count as one for this purpose. For clarity's sake, these are defined as a pair, trio, etc. who are strongly characterized by adventuring together more often than not.
    • Characters returning from Season 1 should be marked as such in their sheet.
  • Death Is Cheap here. Should your character meet a premature end, you're free to plop them in a tavern bedroom elsewhere in the city (sans what items they may have picked up), physically unharmed if perhaps a bit jarred. Unless you get bored of them, I guess, in which case they just go home or something and your new character shows up instead.
  • Speaking of new characters, for the sake of others' sanities character switches are limited to one per day. After all, it defeats the point if you're burning through characters so fast they become impossible to engage with.
  • Avoid Story Breaker Powers or abilities that'd be unmanageable in a roleplaying format (eg. time travel, powers with guaranteed autohits). I won't make a formalized list, but if a character you want to play has such a power you'll be expected to nerf or remove it.
  • Post headers aren't required, but are helpful in case someone needs to find something fast.
  • Expected post length is about a paragraph or two, but this is not a hard rule and you can go longer or shorter to achieve a certain effect. Just please for the love of god don't exclusively post either 3 words or 25k.
  • If you can't post for an extended amount of time, please try and tell someone so we know to work around it rather than sit there waiting.
  • There's a 95% chance I don't recognize your character from their original canon, so I assume you know your character better than I do; that said, while you probably won't get kicked if I find you are doing a massive derail, do expect it to be pointed out.
  • Expect spoilers for any series with an active character here, as well as other works that have previously made an appearance.

Double post for the gmpc sheet, as a sample of what sheets should look like and a preventative measure so no one can snipe this from me. Spoilers, of course.

  • Name: Goro Akechi (codename: Crow)
  • Source: Persona 5 Royal
  • Age, Gender, Species: 18, male, human
  • Appearance: there's no need to uphold the pretense of a righteous, sincere Detective Prince
  • Personality: A soft-voiced and polite young man with a strong sense of justice: in essence, a boy scout...is how he might have presented a couple months ago. While he can put on that act if necessary, nowadays, outside of a fight, you're more likely to be met with a rude bluntness, of the kind you might expect from someone perpetually fed up with the state of the world. In a fight...well, hopefully you're on his side, sparing you the combination of edginess, bloodlust, and enough combat experience to kill you dead if need be. While not always a cold-hearted bastard—he does have a sense of standards—he's not one with qualms about getting his hands dirty. He is fiercely defensive of what control he has over his life, but with a history of being manipulated through a need for approval...although that one, he's at least self-aware of now.
  • Backstory: (suicide mention) The illegitimate son of a high-ranking politician and a nightclub worker, Goro was raised by his mom alone after his father abandoned them at a young age. That was until she was found to have killed herself, and he was placed in the hands of an inadequate foster care system. Goro grew up resenting the hand he'd been dealt, and the man who'd allowed it to happen, but was powerless to do anything about it...until age 15, when he was gifted a mysterious phone app called the Metaverse Navigator, granting him access to the world within people's hearts.
After awakening to his Persona, Akechi concocted a plan: use his power to get in his father, Masayoshi Shido's, good graces, then ruin his career by revealing Akechi's own bastard heritage. This turned sinister quickly when Shido, already having some knowledge of the cognitive world, taught and then ordered Akechi to commit hits by killing a target's Shadow—one's manifestation of their repressed thoughts. Combined with Loki's unique power to coax people into a frenzy, this grew into a mysterious series of incidents serving the corrupt elites who composed Shido's inner circle. In the meantime, Akechi was growing a successful career as a celebrity detective...tainted by the use of that position to cover up his own crimes.
And then came the Phantom Thieves of Hearts.
Tasked with investigating, later infiltrating and destroying, this mysterious new group changing the hearts of criminals, Akechi would find himself in a fraught rivalry with Phantom Thief leader Ren Amamiya (codename: Joker), envious of Ren's gifts and yet finding a strange sort of connection. This should have been severed with a bullet to Ren's forehead...but careful planning and the power of friendship have a funny way of letting one cheat death. Attempting to cover for his mistake, he attacked the eight of them in his father's cognitive world...and narrowly got his ass kicked. To his surprise, rather than 'dealing with' him, the Phantom Thieves showed him a compassion unfamiliar, and offered to let him join their mission to change his father's heart. H̴o̶w̵e̷v̴e̷r̷,̶ ̷t̷h̸i̵s̷ ̸w̵a̵s̶ ̷t̵h̶w̴a̸r̵t̴e̷d̷ ̶b̵y̸ ̷t̴h̸e̶ ̷e̵n̴e̴m̸i̵e̴s̴ ̷o̸f̴ ̶t̸h̴e̷ ̴P̵a̴l̷a̴c̵e̴,̴ ̸r̶e̸s̵u̷l̴t̶i̵n̴g̴ ̵i̴n̶ ̷h̵i̸m̸ ̴g̶i̸v̸i̵n̸g̷ ̷h̵i̵s̵ ̵l̷i̸f̴e̵ ̷t̵o̴ ̶e̷n̸s̴u̶r̶e̷ ̵t̶h̵e̷i̶r̸ ̴e̵s̸c̸a̷p̴e̵.̷.̵.̵a̵n̷d̷ ̴t̸h̵e̴n̴ ̷i̴n̴e̷x̷p̵l̸i̷c̵a̶b̷l̵y̶ ̷f̶i̶n̴d̴i̴n̴g̷ ̵h̶i̶m̸s̸e̶l̷f̷ ̴a̸l̵i̷v̷e̴ ̸s̵e̴v̷e̸r̵a̴l̷ ̷d̸a̵y̶s̷ ̶l̶a̸t̵e̸r̷.̶ As thanks to Ren, he turned himself in for his crimes, only to be released a week later into a Tokyo transformed into a paradise, and then abducted a week after that into this strange city like in a game. And so we begin.
  • Skills/Abilities: While a quite brainy guy, as even a fraud-committing detective must be, Akechi is largely typical of a human teen except for his powers as a Persona user.
    • In the heat of battle, Akechi's clothes transform into his Metaverse outfit. In this state he gains a degree of superhuman durability, reflexes, and strength, enough to power through gunshots and blows that might break bones normally. Replica weapons will function as real ones, provided they look sufficiently believable.
    • Tearing off his mask will summon the Persona Loki, manifestation of his inner self and will to strike out against the ones who have wronged him. Standing at about twice Akechi's height, he can act within about 100 meters of Akechi and will be desummoned if concentration is broken. Actively using his skills is physically and mentally taxing, requiring food or rest to replenish the lost energy, and harm done to him will cause pain to Akechi in turn. Loki and Akechi are completely immune to darkness-based attacks, but uniquely susceptible to light-based ones.
      Loki's own abilities include:
      • striking with his sword Laevateinn
      • Riot Gun: summons a localized hail of bullets
      • Eigaon: attacks a single target with darkness-based magic
      • Megidolaon: strikes a medium-sized area with a blast of pure energy
      • Debilitate: temporarily dampens a single enemy's strength, defense, and agility
      • Tetrakarn: surrounds a person in a barrier that bounces back one(1) physical attack
      • Evade Bless: Akechi gains an additional reflex boost while trying to avoid a light-based attack
      • Fortify Spirit: a passive resistance to Standard Status Effects
      • Tactical Spirit: a passive aura that makes it easier for allies to cast support skills
      • Call of Chaos: a strange power which increases a target's strength but also induces a state of extreme, often dangerous, disinhibition—though curiously, something about the nature of this place has reduced its potency. It lasts either a few minutes, until the inflicted is subdued, or until the condition is dispelled; the average person will come out of the state disoriented, having seen red, though Akechi himself can remain lucid
    • Power of the Wild Card: While unable to make use of it, Akechi has the uncommon ability to hold multiple Personas at once, though only one can be summoned at a time.
  • Items:
    • A typical smartphone with a chat program and the (currently inoperational) Meta-Nav
    • Saw Saber: A detailed model weapon resembling a red serrated lightsaber
    • Mauser: A detailed model gun resembling a red and black raygun
    • and a very real silenced pistol
  • Misc: Should Akechi's self-perception be seriously disrupted, supernaturally or otherwise, Loki may rebel against Akechi's will and randomly summon himself. He'll lash out against anyone in the area, while also attempting to kill Akechi specifically. Should this grow sustained and severe enough, Loki will eventually revert to the form of Shadow Akechi, able to appear as a yellow-eyed version of his other self. Akechi can still wield other Personas in this state, should he have any, but otherwise will lose any power associated with having one.

For the Horde!

Nice! Here's my signup I pre-prepared from earlier. I hope it's all right. Things have been kinda nuts where I am.

  • Name: Shantae
  • Source: Shantae
  • Age/Gender/Species: Female half-genie, young adult
  • Appearance:
  • Personality: Though young, naive, and somewhat shy and insecure, Shantae has a strong sense of justice that drives her to defend Sequin Land from danger, especially against her arch-nemesis, the pirate queen Risky Boots. To her friends she is stalwart and kind, and very loyal to those she cares about: her uncle Mimic, and her friends Bolo, Sky, and Rottytops. She can have a fiery temper, and she has somewhat low self-esteem, but this does not dissuade her from being a protector genie of Scuttle Town. She enjoys dancing, and can be somewhat of a tease at times.
  • Backstory:
    • Shantae was born to a genie mother and a human father. Early in Shantae's life, Shantae's father disappeared and her mother was sealed into the Genie Realm by the evil Pirate Master. She was then raised by her Uncle Mimic, a notable inventor, treasure hunter, and archaeologist, who noticed some unique abilities begin to emerge in the young girl. From that point forward, the half-genie girl began to train with her childhood friend Bolo, and soon stepped up as the protector of Uncle Mimic's hometown of Scuttle Town, as all of Sequin Land. In her adventures, she has defeated Risky Boots no less than four times, the three Barons, the Pirate Master, and even the tainted essence of the genies and her own genie half.
  • Skills/abilities:
    • One of Shantae's most well-known abilities is her ability to use magical belly-dances to invoke mystical, often transformative, powers.
      • Her Monkey Dance allows her to turn into a monkey that can jump high and climb walls.
      • Her Elephant Dance transforms her into a large elephant that can charge forward, stomp into the ground, and bust through solid walls.
      • Her Mermaid Dance turns her into a green-skinned mermaid that can swim fast, breathe underwater, and shoot bubbles.
      • Her Bat Dance turns her into a bat. While it doesn't fly as well as her harpy form, it is smaller so it can fit through tight spaces, and it can see in pitch darkness.
      • Her Crab Dance turns her into a tiny crab that can breathe underwater, though it cannot swim and walks along the bottom. She can hide in her shell protecting her from damage, as well as snip at enemies.
      • Her Mouse Dance turns her into a tiny blue mouse. The smallest of Shantae's transformations, she can use this miniscule form to squeeze into very small, tight spaces.
      • Her Harpy Dance turns her into a harpy that can fly quickly, as well as claw and shoot feathers at her enemies.
      • Her Spider Dance turns her into a half-arachnid creature that can shoot webbing, cling to walls and ceilings, and spit poison.
      • Finally, she can use the Warp Dance to teleport back to towns she has been to before. In the City this will be used to teleport her back to the Arcade. The Warp Dance takes longer to complete than the other dances, and she can be vulnerable if in the middle of it.
    • Shantae's other well-known ability is lashing her long ponytail forward as a whip, which does significant damage. Special hair gel keeps the ponytail strong and long, allowing her to lash faster and with more power behind each swing.
    • Shantae trains in martial arts with Bolo, allowing her to perform hand-to-hand combat if need be. She mainly uses this for more acrobatic maneuvers, like an uppercut kick and a back-dash. Her strong legs let her jump high and for long distances.
  • Items:
    • Shantae has also purchased magical trinkets from shops in Scuttle Town. She can shoot Fireballs forward, use a Pike Ball that circles around her dealing damage to anyone that touches her, a Bubble that circles her and protects her from projectile attacks, and summon a small Storm Cloud to shoot lightning at enemies. Each of these items drains Shantae's inner magical power, and she cannot use them again if drained of this power. She regains her mana by drinking from mana pots or bathing in a spring.
  • Misc: This version of Shantae is being taken from between Shantae: Half-Genie Hero and Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.

Okay, bear with me. This is going to sound ridiculous, and that's because it is.

  • Name: Chimneyfoot
  • Source: Mountain Time
  • Age/Gender/Species: Male Euclidean Pixie (no, I'm not sure what that is either), presumably an adult
  • Appearance: He looks like this. He's about half the height of most humans (minus the hat), his hat and shirt are green (the comic doesn't draw its characters in color, usually), and the chimney on his foot produces smoke sometimes.
  • Personality: He's cynical, but he's usually willing to help out with stuff if he feels like it's needed. (I think. I'm not great at describing personalities.) He might be perceived as a bit loopy by others because he's so used to the bizarro world he comes from, but he is of sound mind.
  • Backstory: Chimneyfoot was always treated poorly by the other Euclidean pixies. They hated him, made fun of him, and never invited him to the stuff that they did. Thankfully, he's managed to get away from them (as in Chimneyfoot is the only pixie to appear in the comic since the first strip they were in). He now lives with Agoraphobic Hamster (who is exactly what he sounds like) and has gone on all sorts of wacky adventures, including (but not limited to) filling in for the Grim Reaper, exploring a spooky crypt that keeps changing layout, being told by a government agent that he's really a human named Special Agent Rivers Walterson who started hallucinating that he was a weird elf thing with a chimney for a foot, and being thrown into a series of alternate realities that may or may not have just been weird dreams. Not to mention all of the strange, absurdist occurrences that happen in his hometown of New Lancaster on a daily basis. (In case you couldn't tell, Mountain Time is weird.)
  • Skills/Abilities: He is superhumanly good at math. He could calculate anything if given enough time and enough information. (Presumably, this is a species trait of Euclidean pixies, but there's really no way of knowing.) He can also consume more alcohol than is humanly possible (probably because he isn't one), but that's less likely to come up.
  • Items: He might have one or two bottles of alcohol on hand because of the above.
  • Misc:
    • The general weirdness of New Lancaster has prepared him pretty well for the City, as sudden random effects, geographically shifting locations, and strange assortments of people are things he's already experienced at home.
    • Mountain Time is currently undergoing a plot arc (it's usually unrelated gag-a-day strips), and Chim's in it. I feel like something important might happen to him in it, so to be safe I'm saying this version of him is from before that.

  • Name: "Hunk" Umbrella's Grim Reaper
  • Source: Resident Evil Franchise, Resident Evil 2 (4th Survivor)
  • Age/Gender/Species: Presumed 30s, Male, Human
  • Appearance: Umbrella's Prime Operator
  • Personality: Consummate Professional Extraordinaire, Hunk is focused on one thing, the success of the mission. Umbrella's greatest operator due to this, Hunk is best described as indifferent to others and will do anything to complete his task. He's not completely without humanity, as he'll cover for his allies if they perform actions deemed reasonable in their circumstances, such as when he covered for Ghost for shooting Doctor Birkin when he drew a gun. Hunk's ultimate philosophy is "This is war, survival is your responsibility." This philosophy extends to himself as much as his allies, if your survival is compromised by him being in danger, it is your responsibility to get yourself out and leave him to die. Give him a task and he'll complete it, even at the risk of others.
  • Backstory: Little is known about who Hunk was before Umbrella (Pharmaceutal Company responsible for the zombies of the franchise), much of his history is shrouded in myth, as his character for the Resident Evil franchise has an air of mystery around it. During the events of Resident Evil 2 and the Remake; 1998 Hunk lead Umbrella Security Alpha Team to the Research labs beneath the police station in Racoon City (Main setting of Resident Evil 1-3) to extract the G-Virus (An advanced form of bioweapon) and Doctor Birkin (Chief Researcher of the new bioweapon project). Birkin however resisted and was killed in the skirmish, or so everyone suspected. Birkin had mutated after taking his own G-Virus project to save his life, the new monstrous Birkin slaughtered Alpha team leaving only Hunk alive. Hunk spent the next several days fighting through the sewers and tunnels, scavenging what ammo and resources he could to face off against the Bio Weapons now lining the streets of Racoon City. During the 4th Survivor scenario of RE 2, Hunk finally made it back to the Police Station and made contact with his pilot Night Hawk. Night Hawk waited for Hunk as he fought through the hordes of the dead and mutated, despite Hunk's insistence that Night Hawk save himself. The two escaped and returned to Umbrella HQ for debriefing, before Racoon City was eventually nuked into a crater to contain the threat.
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Expert Combatant - Trained in various spec op fields, Hunk is an expert in multiple weapons and can use any firearm, blade, or grenade he has on him. He'll march through an army of the undead with little issue.
    • Nerves of Steel - Nothing phases him, working for Umbrella has numbed him and made him resilient to whatever insanity he'll face.
    • OSP Specialist - If he has nothing, he'll find a replacement on site.
    • Hardened - Hunk is hardy for a normal human being, he'd have to be to survive some of the things that the Umbrella Bio-Weapons toss at him.
  • Items:
    • Umbrella Corp Hazard Armor - The iconic gas mask look that he's well known for, the suit is a full set of sealed body armor with a camera and tape recorder black box. It's resistant to T-Virus undead bites and bulletproof as well (for what counted as bulletproof in the 1990s), Hunk never goes anywhere without it.
    • MUP Pistol 16 shot 9mm Semi-Auto pistol.
    • LE-5 SMG - A well known law enforcement weapon, this model is a 32 round .380 chambered version.
    • W-870 Shotgun - 8 Shot pump action shotgun, reliable and always useful.
    • Lightning Hawk Hand Cannon - A powerful hand cannon with 7 shots of ammo that'll break any T-Virus undead in its way.
    • Grenades - 3 Frags, 3 Flash
    • Knife - Standard military combat knife
  • Misc:

~Echoing Silence: Backstory is pretty bare and much of it is lost on a person (me) who is not familiar with RE, but you already agreed on Discord to handle that so I'll simply wait.

As for ~All Hail Thrall and ~The Fullest Circle, yours both look sound and not likely to cause problems, so consider both Shantae and Chimneyfoot accepted.

While I hate Blizzard lately, I still really like this game's setting, and especially the characters in it, so.

"I'll knock some sense into you!"

  • Name: Brigitte Lindholm.

  • Franchise: Overwatch, shortly after the events of the "zero hour" trailer.

  • Age, Gender, Species: 23, female, human.

  • Appearance: Although evocative of medieval armor, Brigitte's battle armor actually incorporates some of the latest battlefield technologies. Out of her armor, she normally wears red overalls and a funny shirt with the sleeves torn off.

  • Personality: First and foremost, Brigitte cares about protecting others; in particular, providing support to those who themselves would go and fight for what is right and just. Though Brigitte is not totally infalliable in this; more than once she has even acted as a voice of caution, and urged one of the people she cares about most not to go charging into another battle, even for a good cause. Once was even because of a grudge she held against those who, in her mind, had wrongfully betrayed the one she cared for. In the end though, both times she was proven wrong, and she learned that it is important to fight for what is right, even if it is not easy.

  • Backstory: The youngest daughter of Torbjƶrn and Ingrid Lindholm, Brigitte grew up taking after the same aptitude for mechanics as her father, frequently spending time in his workshop to fiddle and tinker with little designs of her own; she had a focus on armor and defensive technologies, and once even made a set of armor for her cat. Her other focus of attention growing up was listening to the tales of valor and glory told by her godfather and friend of the family, Reinhardt Wilhelm. Enamored by his stories of his time serving in the Overwatch organization, Brigitte had desired to join the organization herself when she grew up, but this feeling changed after Reinhardt was forced into retirement, which soured Brigitte's disposition towards Overwatch.

When Overwatch was later officially disbanded, Reinhardt had declared that he was going to become a knight errant and travel the European countryside to bring peace and justice to the troubled lands. To the surprise of her family, Brigitte left home and asked to join Reinhardt, and after he accepted, she became the squire to his knight. Her main task while helping him was originally to keep up the maintenence of his crusader armor, as the latest design had been made by her father Torbjƶrn, so she was very familiar with it; however, more and more she ended up having to take care of Reinhardt directly after his battles, as with his age the continued fighting was taking a toll on him. Eventually, Brigitte resolved that fixing up Reinhardt's armor and wounds after a battle was not good enough anymore, and she worked on a set of armor for herself in secret, while training intensely with Reinhardt to ready herself for combat. Brigitte finished her armor combining the medical nanotechnology of another friend of the family, Angela Ziegler, knowledge of mechanics from her father, and a stylization of medieval inspiration much like Reinhardt's own armor; she then was able to take to the field of battle alongside Reinhardt and help more directly on their crusade across the countrysides of Europe. During this time she continued to put refinements into her armor design, along with a little help from her father.

Then, one day Reinhardt suddenly recieved a recall transmission from the defunct Overwatch network, sent by Winston. Brigitte still felt strongly about the organization's mistreatment of Reinhardt, and tried to convince him that he was not obligated to answer the call. However, Reinhardt would not be dissuaded, and calmly resolved to travel to Winston's aid; despite her own misgivings, Brigitte still went along, determined to help. Together they traveled to Paris, currently under assault from an army of hostile robot omnics, and arrived just in time to provide crucial support to Winston and his team.

  • Powers/Abilities: Brigitte doesn't have any kind of magic powers, but she has knowledge and skills which she puts to great use.
    • First and foremost is her mechanical knowledge, learned primarily from her father. Though where his specialization was in weapons, her specialization is in armor, and the use of hard-light shields. That doesn't mean she can't work on anything else though, and overall she's a very reliable Wrench Wench.
    • Second is her martial skill, trained by her godfather in the use of medieval style weaponry that may seem outdated, but functions just fine with proper application of the latest technologies. Brigitte isn't the strongest, but with her exercise regime she is no slouch, and is in fit shape despite her notorious appetite.
    • Last is her admittedly limited medical skill. Brigitte hasn't really had proper training on the subject, other than probably some pointers from family friend Dr. Ziegler, but she's had enough experience from tending to Reinhardt after battles that she knows how to treat simple wounds. She also knows how to handle medical nanites, which do a lot of the work for her.

  • Items: The mainstay of Brigitte's possessions is her armor, custom designed and built by herself, though with some help and input from her father. In many regards it is almost like a lighter, less protective variation of her godfather Reinhardt's German-designed crusader armor; though her armor has naturally greater dexterity, and more importantly, hosts healing nanites, which is perhaps its most important function. As mentioned, more durable armor exists, but Brigitte's armor can still protect her from a light amount of small arms fire, even without the use of her shield. More details to follow.
    • Rocket flail: Brigitte sometimes refers to it as her 'mace', as it does resemble a mace in its static state, but when swung with sufficient force, the head of this weapon extends out on a chain to allow her some reach, almost 3 meters on average; she is skilled enough to do this almost twice every second or so. She is also able to trigger a 'whip-shot' technique, activating the rocket boosters on the head of the weapon to launch it out like a projectile, up to the chain's maximum length of about 10 meters, with enough force to knock back an average human 5-10 meters; the rocket boosters take about 4 seconds to recharge once used, though she can continue to swing the flail normally during that time. Brigitte is skilled enough to hit multiple targets per swing if they're within range, and can hit targets with the head of the flail while it retracts from a whip-shot, though the latter requires the targets to be sufficiently lined up.
    • Medical nanobot aerosol dispersion: Arguably the most important function of Brigitte's suit is a method she developed for the suit to manufacture and disperse medical nanobots throughout the air around her, thus providing a steady source of healing for herself and every tagged friendly in her vicinity- though it is less effective on a single target than other delivery methods developed by Dr. Ziegler and others, it allows Brigitte to stay on the offensive while simultaneously providing support for others and herself. The tricky part though was that Brigitte was unable to make the system work with the suit's passive power generation, requiring her to come up with an inventive solution of utilizing the kinetic feedback energy of her weapon strikes; so, every time she strikes something with her flail or shield, the system is able to activate for 5 seconds. Additional strikes within the 5 second window do not directly add additional time, but do effectively restart the 5 seconds. Once the system has been properly activated, it has an effective range of about 20 meters from Brigitte; any other person recieving healing from the nanites will continue to recieve the benefit even if they then step outside of that range, though for no more than 5 seconds of course.
    • Repair pack: In addition, a more direct method of support was designed into the suit, which does not require extra energy from Brigitte hitting things. Her so-called 'repair packs' are really just a medical nanobot instant application medikit with a sophisticated delivery system; Brigitte designates a friendly target up to 30 meters away and throws the repair pack in their direction, with an onboard thruster system accelerating the pack and correcting its trajectory should the target move. On impact the nanobots are administered, quickly healing the target with the effect lasting approximately two seconds; hitting the same target with multiple of the packs does not increase the speed of healing, just the duration. Brigitte's suit is able to manufacture one of these repair packs in 6 seconds, and can hold a maximum of 3 at a time.
    • Hard-light shield: Brigitte's primary defense is a hardlight shield, which when deployed very much so resembles a medieval tower shield in shape, but is a transparent blue aside from the framing devices. Its size is enough to completely cover Brigitte from the front. As a hard-light shield, it blocks physical matter and energy trying to pass through it at an excessive speed, note  but anything hitting it more slowly will simply pass through. (The rule of thumb, though there can be exceptions, is that ranged attacks are blocked while melee attacks are not.) However, Brigitte's shield can only take so much punishment before it overloads and has to shut down; if taken down completely, it will take 5 seconds before it is useable again, at full charge; if it is only partially damaged, it will begin to regenerate 2 seconds after being shut off, and would take less than 3 seconds to fully regenerate. Also, while Brigitte is using it properly, she moves a bit slower than she normally can. It also only has the blocking effect from the front; projectiles can be shot through it from the back side without being hindered, though it can be tricky for Brigitte and someone else to effectively take advantage of this feature. Another major feature of the shield is that it can 'interlock' with other hard-light shields, at least of a similar enough design, by having the shields deployed in such a way that they would overlap; this results in a combined shield that is larger and stronger than the two would be individually, but does restrict mobility further as the two shields need to stay sufficiently overlapped. (Is this likely to come up in the RP? Probably not, but I feel it's worth mentioning.)
    • Rocket boost: As another inspiration from Reinhardt's crusader armor, Brigitte built a rocket propulsion system into the backside of her armor. Rather than a sustained boost over several seconds, hers is designed to give one big sudden thrust, which propels her forward almost 12 meters when activated. Theoretically it could be used at any time, but for her own safety, Brigitte has trained herself to use it in conjunction with her shield; it also provides a handy offensive technique as she can use this to bash an enemy with the central housing mechanism of the shield. (Which she reinforced for just such a use.) Against an average human opponent, this tends to cause a brief period of disorientation, effectively stunning her target for almost a second; and if she were to use it against something coming back at her with similar or greater force, it tends to end up with both her target and Brigitte herself knocked flat on the ground for a couple of seconds.
    • Rally: Brigitte's 'ultimate' ability, this specialized suit system overcharges the production of the nanites that normally go into the repair packs, as well as augmenting Brigitte's own movement for its full duration of 10 seconds. During those 10 seconds, Brigitte and all designated allies within 8.5 meters will have a protective armor barrier applied around them via her nanites, at a constant and steady rate reaching the maximum amount of protectiveness in about 3.33 seconds. This protective barrier does have a limited lifespan, of 30 seconds maximum. Between the strain on her suit and the host of this universe not wanting her to spam this too much, she can only use it twice per day, with at least an hour between uses.

In addition, Brigitte of course has her regular attire on, underneath her armor, and a selection of handy tools for working on her armor.

  • Misc: If you're reading the ranges on the abilities and thinking they don't seem right, it's because Ocean and I agreed to modify some of them, as seen in the post below this one. All of the range values were originally taken from an overwatch wiki page.

~Echoing Silence: Ok that's better. A bit clunky but nonetheless easily followable by a person unfamiliar with RE. Hunk is accepted.
~Firock Finion: I'm not very good at translating numbers into mental images anyway, so precision is less important than it feeling the right size, although from what I remember of having played OW1...yeah her normal attack definitely didn't feel like 6m lmao. Let's say...halve the range of her normal attack and whip shot, and two rallies a day.

Because I enjoy writing signups and because I think it would be nice if this RP did as well as its predecessor, I have a signup ready to post as of now. Before I do, however, I wanted to ask what sort of posting frequency would be expected of players. I tend to write slowly relative to what I recall the pace being like in the first CoLC.

Heya- Been a while. Kinda dropped off from the first CoLC, but seeing another makes me interested in getting on it from the very beginning.

Got some character ideas floating around(nothing concrete yet) but just to narrow down my option, wanna ask: are villainous characters allowed?

@Oceanstuck: Yeah, I know that most of the time it won't really matter, but I don't mind it being firmly established for my PC, just in case it ever does matter later, there wouldn't be any argument about it. Anyway, I will half those two uses of the flail then in an edit in just a bit.

@darksidevoid: Speaking from experience from the first game, it will probably depend on how many players will be on board; right now it seems relatively low, but it is a holiday time so maybe more will be showing up after New Years has settled down. The start of each new in-game day will probably be faster than other times in the RP, as that's when most of the attention and excitement over the new gimmick tends to come in.

Anyway, in general it was usually fine if you could manage to post at least once per day; slower than that is when it would start to become difficult to interact with some players.

@Just Some Guy 732: Ocean is in charge this time so it's up to her, but based on the discussions we've already had about it in the Discord server, villainous characters are allowed, but not generally recommended. It depends of course on exactly what you're intending. A character who is just going to be somewhat morally abrasive to others, like an anti-hero, probably wouldn't be too much of a problem, but if you want to actually be a bad guy towards the other characters and actively go against them, that really won't work.

From an immediate, practical standpoint, a lot of the characters that are likely to be signed up with (and as of my character, at least 40% of the ones already in) are going to be more heroically inclined and would face against you, so you're almost certain to be outnumbered and ganged up on. (A phenomenon I coined from the first game as the, 'hero dogpile.') It would be a bit unfair from a gameplay standpoint if you were allowed to be strong enough to actually stand a chance against half or so of the rest of the cast simultaneously. So your character would probably get their ass whooped and apprehended... And then what, you roleplay being stuck in jail? (I can say from experience in the first game, not a fun plan.)

Even if you devise a character and strategy where you carefully choose when to engage so that the fights wouldn't be so wildly against your favor, that means either one of two things that still aren't very good options. Either you have to sit around with maybe only NPCs to interact with at best for prolonged periods of time, which probably won't be much fun for you; or, you're able to constantly make plays against the rest of the cast so you always have something to do, but that could easily become annoying and grating for the rest of the players, making it less fun for everyone who isn't you.

So yeah, it's allowed, but with a big, "are you sure?" attached to it.

~Just Some Guy: yes, though use your discretion as to whether they would mesh with already-accepted characters. Obviously someone who would immediately antagonize basically everyone would probably go badly lol, but we do already have two characters with somewhat darker (though not pure evil) morals.
~darksidevoid: I was picturing about once a day, which is about where we ended up in COLC1, though between college and my ADHD a little slower wouldn't be out of the question, at least far as my own posting is concerned.

As for Firock, with that done consider Brigitte accepted.

Name: Aqua
Source: KonoSuba
Age/Gender/Species: Eternal/Female/Goddess
Appearance: Bazinga
Personality: Happy, cheerful, spunky, high-spirited and always positive! But can also suddenly cry and scream and act super whiny and depressed when things don't go her way - even if she'll spring right back in a heartbeat. Very honest and never knowingly lies due to not being too familiar with dishonesty - and likewise tends to be really goddamned gullible. Tends to put her foot in her mouth, figuratively. She is selfless and good-natured and wonderful and provides kindness and acts of great charity to the masses... and then aggressively demands praise and worship from said masses.
Backstory: Aqua has been the goddess of her world for countless millennia. As part of a tourism/population plan, part of her job was convincing dead Japanese people that it was super awesome to reincarnate into her world. But then everything changed when a troll wished for her to reincarnate, and an upstart goddess took her place. The nerve! Now, after years of slumming it as a human(ish), Aqua travels the world as an Archpriest as part of the Adventurer's Guild.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Goddess: Aqua is a goddess incarnated into a human-ish body, granting her access to quite a few godly aspects. To start with, all her stats are "maximum"... except her intelligence and luck. What this means is that, despite all appearances, she has the highest strength, agility, vitality, endurance, and any other natural attributes that a non-superpowered human could hope to achieve. Having the skill to use those attributes is another matter entirely....
    • Holy Aura: It causes pain for undead/devils to touch her, with prolonged exposure being lethal. Her very breath is harmful to devils. Draining her vitality/magic is poisonous for the undead. Her holy aura also limits the effectiveness of lie-detecting magical items; they will only detect her lie if it is something she very strongly believes is false.
    • Undead attraction: Undead are attracted to her. Mindless undead will ignore orders by their master to chase Aqua.
    • Night Vision: See as well in the dark as daytime.
    • Undead/Devil Detection: Can detect devils/undead by smell.
    • Scry/Mental Immunity: If anyone attempts to see her location/future/mind or attempts mind manipulation on her, it results in seeing a blinding bright light.
    • Resurrection: Aqua can resurrect anyone who has recently died. Since this is a game where everyone respawns anyway... probably just means she can cause someone who dies near her to respawn where they were instead of a new location.
    • Reflect: Creates a transparent wall of light that reflects attacks. Let's say as strong as a brick wall.
    • Magic Circles: She can draw magic circles on the ground, walls, etc that make an area unappealing to ghosts, undead, demons, and monsters, so that lower-level ones are outright repelled from entering, while stronger ones might just get a spooky feeling about it - and some itching.
    • Godly Mana: Aqua can never run out of energy. She is personally limited by how much she can use with her own abilities, but at least she doesn't have to bother with spell slots and once-per-day abilities or getting exceedingly exhausted like a human would.
  • Aqua: Being a water goddess, Aqua has - surprise - water magic. All water Aqua produces automatically has holy attributes. Their potency is such that they can rejuvenate people and even damage Undead.
    • Purification: Aqua has the power to purify water, from contaminated hot springs to coffee and tea, through mere contact. Aqua has no control over this as any liquid she touches becomes purified, regardless of intent, while actually casting her Purification spell simply increases the effect. By default it's probably a gallon per second at most, and when focusing it can be ten times as much. This also applies to herself, and she can't get afflicted by status effects, yet... somehow she's still able to get drunk....
    • Water Manipulation: She can telepathically control water and move it around - just water, or watery solutions, not like, that bullshit where you say a person's body is 70% water. At most like a swimming pool's worth at once.
  • Archpriest: As a humanized goddess, Aqua also has a human Character Class. Because everyone loves Dungeons and Dragons! For simplicity's sake, she can cast any standard magic by herself in a flash, but anything described as a stronger version requires she use her staff (or a suitable magical focus) and spend several seconds channeling/chanting/casting it.
    • God Blow: She can use magic to punch something REALLY hard, and "purify"/exorcise it at the same time. Probably like twice as strong as a boxer can punch, so it can surprisingly fuck someone up. Purification/exoricism means that said punch can really mess with any sort of evil/poisonous/demonic influence affecting a person.
      • God Requiem: Can THWACK someone with a weapon - such as her staff - much harder than she can punch, like having a really strong dude slam your face with a sledgehammer. Along with the purify/exorcise effect.
    • Sacred Dispel: A spell that allows Aqua to lift curses or break protective spell barriers.
    • Exorcism: A simple spell to remove demonic influence from someone.
      • Sacred Exorcism: A stronger version of Exorcism that Aqua fires like a laser from her forehead... it's basically just the magical equivalent of shooting a demon with an AK-47, and useless against anything not demonic.
    • Turn Undead: A spell that, when cast upon, can purify the undead - weaker ones die, while stronger ones just... turn away and leave.
      • Sacred Turn Undead: A more powerful version of Turn Undead, which, when cast upon, can release a powerful spell that can purify even a lich.
    • Heal: Heals a minor wound, removes a status effect, or relieves exhaustion.
      • Sacred Highness Heal: Heals a major wound. Can remove mental status effects, or even restore erased/lost memories.
    • Create Water: Creates clean drinking water. Can vary in output. At maximum power, it can be fired at someone with the intensity and output of a fire hose.
      • Sacred Create Water: Create water, but stronger... so like shooting several fire hoses.
    • Seal: Seals a magical item's power.
    • Break Spell: A spell that can nullify or weaken a spell
      • Sacred Break Spell: A stronger version of Break Spell.
    • Force Fire: Draws the attention of monsters towards the user.
    • Supporting Spells: Aqua can cast 'buffs' on allies. The majority of these just briefly double someone's strength, speed, defense, magic resistance, or luck - one per spell.
      • Versatile Actor: Turn an ally into a super actor, even allowing them to mimic anyone's voice.
  • Weird random personal skills:
    • Party Tricks!: The dumbest magical spells. Basically anything a stage magician can do. Also includes being able to conjure paper fans,
    • Construction Management: If she really puts her head to it, she has a weirdly uncanny ability to lead a team of construction workers in a way that they can do five times as much work as they normally would.
    • Master Artistry: Whether it's painting, photo manipulation, ceramics, painting those really detailed little Warhammer 40k miniatures with textured colors and even using the faux grass that people put on the base, or what have you, Aqua - when motivated - can somehow crank out masterworks of art that rivals masters of the craft.
Items:
  • Magic Staff: It's a staff. It's very durable, and enchanted to fly towards her hand if she's ever separated from it.
Misc:
  • There is a meme that Aqua is useless. Slander! Even if it's not entirely inaccurate to say she isn't particularly super useful in a fight.... but she still has a very solid assortment of support and healing magic, so ideally she shouldn't be a worthless dead weight in this game as the memes might suggest.
  • Really likes ice cream.
  • Is typically considered extremely beautiful by layfolk due to her divine heritage.
  • Not a fan of toads and frogs.

Got it, thanks for the response! Well, I have someone, at least

  • Name: Higashiyama Kobeni
  • Source: Chainsaw Man
  • Age/Gender/Species: 20/Female/Human
  • Appearance: Normal. Default Mood. Cold-blooded Killer.
  • Personality: To summarize her, she's... a bundle of nervous wreck being forced into a work field where people either live long enough to be batshit crazy, jaded enough to not care about life anymore, die young, literally devils or is already insane to begin with. She's soft-spoken, a pushover, always stuttering, easily spooked, easily intimidated and will cower at the immediate sign of danger. With how much of a whimpering scaredy cat she is just seconds away from a full-blown panic attack, one wonders how she manage to survive and thrive as a Devil-Hunter at all.
    • Fact of the matter is, while she is undoubtedly a coward- were she to be under extreme duress, chose 'fight' in a 'fight-or-flight response' or something extreme causes her to snap out it(like a co-worker saving her life by sacrificing his own), it'll be as if a switch is flipped onto Kobeni- that very same stuttering, sniveling girl would suddenly turn into a stone-cold very efficient killer, ripping off human limbs with a swing of her knife, dodge gunfire while charging into the enemy's ranks and is fast and agile enough to parkour over a gigantic snake demon. Once the danger has passed and her adrenaline has died down however, expect her to suffer PTSD/a panic attack soon after.
  • Backstory: In a modern world much like our own, there exists beings known as Devils- beings that are the manifestations of human fear that causes harm and kill humans. To counter this threat, the Public Safety Bureau is formed- where Devil-Hunters are employed to patrol and deal with them.
    • Enter Kobeni, one such 'aspiring' Devil-Hunter. In the first place, she doesn't even want to work in this life-or-death career, even if the pay is quite generous- the only reason she got into this line of work is because she was forced by her family to earn money so that his elder brother could afford to go to college- and it's either she becomes a sex worker, or work for the Public Safety. Naturally, she chose the latter. Yeah, her life story's pretty shitty.
    • To make a long story painfully short, a... lot of things had happened, and now, she's effectively retired from the Devil-Hunting business. For once, it looks like life is looking up for Kobeni... Uuuuntil she founds herself within this City. Man, she really can't catch a break, can she?
  • Skills/Abilities: Note that this only applies once Kobeni is in the right state of mind(i.e. extreme duress, full-blown panic over her life looping back to relying on sheer survival instinct, extreme shock). Kobeni as she normally is... she's pretty much too panick-y and hesitant most of the time to utilize her untapped potential.
    • Instinct: Seems to have a preternatural sense to dodge danger as it happens.
    • Enhanced Agility: Once described as a monkey. Able to leap up to at least 5 meters tall and has the running speed at the level slightly beyond that of an Olympic athlete, in addition to being agile enough to run across a giant snake demon's body while avoiding its attack.
    • Enhanced Reaction Speed: Able to respond quickly enough to gunfire being shot at her and dodge accordingly. Note that this is against single-shot gunfire like a pistol. Something with at least the rate of fire of an assault rifle is going to prove... difficult, even with her agility and heightened senses.
    • Firearms Experience: Seems to be have experience to handle a handgun quite well, able to shoot at a man's vitals without even looking at them.
    • Extremely Good Knife User: That's putting it lightly. With but a well-calculated swing, she is utterly capable of cutting a fully-grown adult man's arm or limb off with little effort... against a standing or surprised target. Those that are aware, made sure to not underestimate and/or keep their guard against her by constantly moving will fare better, though if they're not a CQC/melee expert they're gonna have a bad time. Combine that with her agility and improved senses to avoid danger and, well, this is one knife nut you don't want to get close to. Obviously, heavily armored foes or foes with toughness way beyond a standard human will fare much better, as she'll need to target their joints/weak spots instead.
  • Items:
    • Devil Hunter Suit: All Public Safety Devil-Hunters typically has their suit on them. It is mentioned that they're 'reinforced' and provides decent protection for Devil-Hunters, but considering it's not specified just what sort of protection it provide, assume it provides the protection of both a mundane stab vest and bulletproof vest.
    • Knife: Always carries a knife with her- Her primary weapon. Do not underestimate something as simple as even a kitchen knife on her hands- she can, and will, chop you to pieces with it.
  • Misc:
    • Gonna be a challenge, trying to play a character that is cowardly and only useful combat-wise upon specific conditions- But hey, I like a challenge. tongue
    • Plus, I of all people should have experience playing a character that's not combat-oriented, considering who I played before [lol]

  • Appearance: Ultra gear!
  • Personality: Cheetor is an adolescent, turbo-revvin' young punk who thinks that he's the fastest thing on four legs. He feels like he's got a lot to prove, and does so by throwing himself into dangerous situations or taking on responsibilities he can't handle. His shoot first, ask-questions-later attitude can cause problems for those around him, but he's a good kid at heart and his experiences have led him to grow into a wiser, better-rounded warrior.
  • Backstory: Cheetor was the youngest Maximal aboard the long-range exploration vessel Axalon when it was diverted off-course to pursue Megatron and a group of Predacon malcontents, who'd stolen a mysterious golden disk. After crash-landing on a strange, primitive world, Cheetor adopted a new beast mode and became a major player in the ensuing "Beast Wars" that eventually culminated in Megatron's defeat. However, when the surviving Maximals returned to Cybertron, they were assaulted by Vehicons and infected with a virus that removed Cheetor's Transmetal upgrades and scrambled his short-term memories.
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Transformation: Like most Cybertronians, Cheetor can transform into an alternate mode: in his case, an organic cheetah. While in beast mode, Cheetor is insulated against most forms of energy that would harm his robotic superstructure-such as energon radiation or electromagnetism, but his organic beast mode is more vulnerable to conventional forms of damage. Conversely, while in robot mode, Cheetor takes less damage from weaponsfire but is vulnerable to anti-robotic weaponry. While in beast mode, Cheetor cannot access any of his normal weapons beyond claws and teeth.
    • High speed: In both forms, Cheetor's natural speed and cat-like reflexes make him difficult to hit.
    • Precognition: Very rarely, Cheetor has surreal, occasionally prophetic dreams while asleep, but it's unclear whether these are merely the result of a bug in his system or glimpses of some higher destiny.
  • Items: Cheetor carries a hand-held quasar cannon, which fires bursts of explosive energy.

Edit 12/29/22: Added Metamorphosis phenomenon to Enty's abilities.

Hmmmmm... Well, I can't promise I'll be able to keep up with that pace indefinitely, but I at least have enough spare time for the next while that I can make an effort to do so. That said, here's my signup!

  • Name: USS Enterprise CV-6, AKA Big E, Lucky E, The Grey Ghost, The Galloping Ghost, Enty, etc.
  • Source: Azur Lane (Blend of videogame and anime canons to allow for maximal characterization)
  • Age/Gender/Species: A member of the all-female KAN-SEN species resembling a woman in her twenties, Enterprise has existed as a person for only a small number of years, but also carries the memories of all 26 years of her original ship's history, including those of her crew's time aboard her.
  • Appearance: Although she will start out in this outfit, her ordinary attire is more along these lines (while she has her rigging out).
  • Personality: A relatively introverted woman with incredibly strong morals, sense of responsibility, and determination, Enty was once laser-focused on work, battle, and training to the exclusion of all else, though more recently she has learned to lighten up and be kinder to herself while still being a rather serious person. For example, she enjoys delivering gifts to all her friends and allies on Christmas, but will insist that she is "Santa Claus" in the process and not answer to any other name for the rest of the day. Even if she doesn't look it, she is a big fan of Star Trek and Sci-Fi in general. She is also very proud of her various accomplishments, and quite self-confident, though not to the point of arrogance. Although haunted by the ghost of war and created for the purpose of fighting, she nonetheless strives toward a day when her world will be at peace and she can live as an ordinary woman alongside her family and friends.
  • Backstory: A KAN-SEN created by fusing the fantastical technology known as a "Wisdom Cube" with the hull of the original USS Enterprise CV-6, Enterprise was born in her native nation of The Eagle Union to fight back against a mysterious faction known as the "Sirens", robotic women antagonistic to humanity with parts modeled after legendary monsters, who had by the time of Enty's birth conquered over 90% of the Earth's seas and devastated human civilization in the process. She fought against them as part of an international alliance of all the world's navies with great success, until one day the disagreement between factions of humanity's alliance over whether to use the Siren's own technology in the war effort turned into a proper schism when certain nations formed their own axis of power and declared war on the rest of their former allies after a surprise attack on the Eagle Union's Pacific port of Pearl. From there, the naval conflict played out much the same as in World War II, with Enerprise quickly achieving the status of a battlefield legend and becoming the most decorated ship of the entire allied fleet, although her sisters Yorktown and Hornet were gravely injured over the course of the war, the former slipping into a long coma. Before the reenactment of the Pacific War could be completed, however, a truce was declared in the face of renewed aggression by the Sirens, and the previous enemies re-united against the shared threat, though tensions and mistrust naturally remained.

Blaming the casualties on her own, self-percieved weakness, Enterprise retreated into a shell and pushed everyone else away, and even tried to eschew anything that would make her seem more like a human rather than a simple humanoid weapon honed to destroy the enemy. Eventually, however, the alliance's most prominent naval Commander and her fellow KAN-SEN HMS Belfast succeeded in lifting Enty out of her depression and getting her to embrace her humanity and focus on things other than battle. Nowadays, she acts as commanding officer of the allied forces based in Port New York, who fight back against the Siren threat in the North Atlantic. Recently, her sister Yorktown even woke up from her coma! That said, recent events in the course of the war have given Enty a lot to think about, so she decided to take a vacation by going on a road trip on her prized motorbike, the only other living thing traveling with her being her pet bald eagle, named Grim Reaper. Then, in the middle of her journey, she ended up stranded in The City of Lost Characters, the same as everyone else present!

  • Skills/Abilities: Enty is a KAN-SEN, a woman superficially resembling a human created by fusing a Wisdom Cube with the hull of a warship. KAN-SEN do not age under normal circumstances, and are partly organic and partly mechanical; if injured, they bleed and recover from wounds the same way as a human, but they are capable of sending and receiving radio signals using their brains, consuming things like pure alcohol or barrel-fulls of oil with no ill effect - in fact, they can survive on oil alone - and some other capabilities that will be detailed below.
    • All KAN-SEN are at least mildly superhuman physically. In Enty's case, she is able to easily make large vertical leaps a few stories up and has an incredibly good sense of balance. Furthermore, she can easily withstand much higher pressures and G-forces, and lower temperatures, than a human can without protection.
    • All KAN-SEN are capable of mild hydrokinesis, such that they can selectively repel water from themselves, used for such purposes as 'skating' on top of bodies of water at high speed, propelling themselves and increasing their swim speed while submerged in water, or simply drying off when wet.
    • All KAN-SEN have equipment known as "Rigging", a miniature version of themselves as a ship that is inherent to their being and can be controlled telekinetically within a short distance of themselves, as well as summoned or dismissed at will. Naturally, they are inherently adept at using their Rigging's abilities and weaponry. When damaged, Riggings cannot be repaired except with the proper tools, know-how, and materials, all of which Enty lacks.
      • Enty, being the physical manifestation of a WWII aircraft carrier, is able to summon a miniature flight deck as her Rigging, as well as manifest and launch from it small plane drones with miniturized armaments and appearance appropriate to that era (see her second Appearance pic for an idea of their scale). She has quite a few planes, but when damaged, they can't be repaired or replaced without the appropriate time, materials, and know-how, which she lacks. That said, their fuel and ammunition can be automatically replenished when they return to the flight deck, but doing so drains some of Enty's stamina. Although the planes are piloted by independent A.I.s capable of taking relatively simple commands such as "make a scouting run and then return" or "conduct a bombing run in formation on X target", Enty can see and hear everything someone in the pilot seats of her planes might be able to, and can take full control of one plane at a time to perform more exact manuevers in addition to issuing them commands via radio.
      • Enty's planes come in three varieties: fighters, equiped with machine guns; dive-bombers, equipped with two bombs each; and torpedo bombers, likewise equipped with one torpedo each. Enty's planes are unique among the carriers of her era for being able to flawlessly conduct operations in the dark of night, and her dive-bombers carrying multiple bombs enables them to either drop twice the normal payload or make multiple bombing runs before needing to return.
      • Lastly, the second part of her Rigging is her bow, the Superstructure, which can fire up to three arrows of energy at once that can be used to either strike with the speed and force of a bullet or launch planes in the same manner as the flight deck, the arrows transforming into planes in midair.
    • Finally, when undergoing extreme emotional trauma - for example, the stress of becoming the only survivor of a doomed world - all KAN-SEN have the ability to undergo a phenomenon known as "Metamorphosis" or "Origination", the latter named such because it involves their "Wisdom Cube" reverting to an "Origin Cube". KAN-SEN who have undergone Metamorphosis are known as METAs, and such KAN-SEN's riggings and bodies change to become more edgy and futuristic and obtain greater destructive potential. For example, the antagonistic Enterprise META of Azur Lane canon has futuristic, spaceship-like aircraft with stronger armaments, and can, through sheer force of will, deploy a pocket dimension that can trap others inside along with her until she is defeated or dismisses it. The Enty of this RP would only Metamorphize under extreme circumstances, but I am listing it here just in case, and in the event that it does happen, I will work out the details with the GM before posting about it in the RP thread.

    • Enty's various other skills are mainly related to warfighting and leadership of naval fleets, though she is quite intelligent and her superiors at least have seen to it that she at least got a good, college education, majoring in naval history. That said, she has few actual life skills along the lines of cooking or cleaning, though she is doing her best to learn. She also knows how to ride a motorcycle, as you may have guessed from her appearance, and how to properly care for her pet eagle.

  • Items:
    • A backpack, containing basic snack food for the hungry traveler (trail mix, energy bars, etc.), a few bottles of water, and a change of clothes.
    • Not really an item so much as a living companion, her pet bald eagle, Grim Reaper, whom she inherited from her older sister, Yorktown. He is carnivorous and quite smart for an eagle, though sometimes a bit bird-brained.
    • Her electric-powered motorcycle.
    • Her 21st century smartphone equivalent.
    • Her wallet.

  • Misc: I considered giving her the ability to summon a full-size aircraft carrier and full-size planes like in the anime, but I figured that might be a bit much, even if the image of a carrier surfing on top of a plane is hilarious. :P

Now this is someone that I signed up with in another RP. It's not usually my preference to play the same character in two different RPs, but I did want to try something new.

  • Name: Mai Shiranui
  • Source: Originally Fatal Fury, currently The King of Fighters
  • Age/Gender/Species: 21/Female/Human
  • Appearance: Alluring Ninja Girl
  • Personality: Mai Shiranui is a very cheerful and temperamental woman. She tends to also be somewhat of an airhead and admires any kind of beauty or attractiveness, which sometimes comes across as being vain.
  • Backstory: Mai Shiranui was taught the secrets of ninjutsu by her grandfather Hanzo Shiranui alongside Andy Bogard. Initially, she was cold to Andy, but when he gave her a present for her birthday, she fell in love with him, which confused him greatly. Because of her love for Andy, she followed him to America and eventually joined the King of Fighters tournament. However, she has now ended up in the City of Lost Characters.
  • Skills/Abilities: Mai Shiranui is skilled at pyrokinesis, being able to create fire. She can only control the fire that she herself creates. Under normal circumstances, this acts like any normal fire, but Mai could even melt metal if she concentrated her fire into a small single constant flame like that of a welder's. She can infuse her attacks with fire and completely cloak her body with her flames. Mai can channel fire through her clothes, weapon, and anything she touches. She can also cause explosions and eruptions of fire near herself which max out at 3 feet. Mai has the ability to temporarily stay airborne and control her movements in the air which allows her to float, glide, change directions in mid-air, or gain temporary flight. She has the power to pull out weapons and items from her clothing from seemingly nowhere. Mai can temporarily project shadow images of herself and her weapon. She is trained in the art of Shiranui-ryu ninjutsu which she uses with her pyrokinesis. As a ninja, she is skilled in stealth, climbing, and using her revealing outfit to her advantage as a distraction. She can change clothes within a second. She also knows how to make clothes, favoring traditional Japanese outfits. She knows how to cook.
  • Items: Multiple battle fans, giant fans, other articles of clothing, as well as an umbrella, all of which can be pulled from her clothing from seemingly nowhere.
  • Misc: SNK Video Games have a Shared Universe.

~Nman: That's...a lot of powers, but looking at it, none of it is outright broken or combines into a broken combo, so that shouldn't be too bad. Although quick note: the city's existing respawn mechanic takes like...5 seconds, so Aqua would have to be able to cast it pretty fast to get any value out of it.

~Just Some Guy: Having her personality keep it in check is good, but I'd rather she isn't completely unstoppable when she does enter The Zoneā„¢, and full-on taking off two limbs in one shot is...a bit much, esp combined with the insane reflexes. I assume this was a freak event because it just sounds like it would be, so let's say she's not so strong and accurate that she can simply do this to just any target; they'd have to be effectively stuck in place, though a moving one could still be seriously hurt if her attack lands. In essence, tone down the Extremely Good Knife User bullet point to make her sound merely Pretty Fucking Good rather than Completely Indominable when she gets going.

~Locoman: Actually seeing the future is not gonna be workable, so any dreams are just gonna be random shit with maybe some vague foreshadowing, although I suspect that was going to be the case anyway.

~darksidevoid: TIL the plot of Azur Lane...but in all seriousness, this looks fine (and yes, a full-sized aircraft carrier would have been a bit much lol). As a side note, there will be means to repair damaged rigging available, though if you'd prefer there to still be stakes to that damage, it wouldn't be hard to justify a cooldown for repairs.

~Game Guru GG: Not much to say. Looks pretty alright.

Aqua, Cheetor, Enterprise, and Mai are accepted. Kobeni is pending.

Thanks! And yeah that's no problem, I was figuring it would be very unreliable/situational given the way the city works.

@Oceanstuck: Edited a few words to better clarify(the Zone sounds too vague if peeps just read the skill section) and toned down her Knife Nut- though do tell me if I need further edits!

    • Extremely Good Knife User: That's putting it lightly. With but a well-calculated swing, she is utterly capable of cutting a fully-grown adult man's arm or limb off with little effort... against a standing and surprised target.

I've got my interest in it myself. I'm thinking of singing up as either Melia from Xenoblade Chronicles 1, Nia from the second game, or Tucker from Red vs. Blue.

  • Name: Baro Ki'Teer
  • Source: Warframe
  • Age/Gender/Species: 40?/Male/Human
  • Appearance: "The wait is over, I have arrived."
  • Personality: Consistently affable and seemingly friendly in casual situations, though willing to leverage sly derision onto those he considers to be lacking in a sufficient level of good taste. When the pressure is on though, he tends to lose composure while getting a lot more petty. While he claims impartiality, ultimately he is on the side of continuing to conduct his business freely with people who appreciate the kind of high-class goods he chooses to provide; back home this aligned well with the forces of good.
  • Backstory: In a solar system of strife, long after the fall of a golden but horrific empire and the rise of new factions of conflict, there was a village on the sands of the planet Mars. The people of this village had a myth: a god-king called Inaros who helped protect them in their direst hour from the golden empire and the mutative monsters unleashed by that empire. Eventually however new foes would arrive to raze the village and in this hour the village prayed for deliverance from their god-king... There was no intervention. Only one survivor walked away from the village, a young Baro filled with resentment towards the futile myths that doomed his home.
    • He spent so many years building back up from nothing, plying a trade built with his own effort rather than reliance on inconstant gods. And surprisingly, it worked out well. Eventually he was strong and well-funded enough to seek out more extravagant materials to sell from the ruins of the golden empire and a new clientele in the itinerant wandering heroes known as the Tenno. He would sell them wondrous (if not really anything more than decorative) treasures in exchange for the funds needed to conduct the raids, a perfect cycle of gilded commerce.
    • It is one of these Tenno who helped settle those old resentments with Baro's past, recovering the pieces of Inaros from their resting place and assembling them into a new (albeit controlled by the Tenno) protector of the sands. This closure didn't change anything really for Baro Ki'Teer, but it was peace of mind that would be appreciated regardless.
    • And then recently, on a delve into the Void for more stock, Baro encountered a dashing stranger who offered a deal: Distill every alternate timeline, every distasteful notion of there being multiple Baro Ki'Teers into a singular perfect version of himself. He shook hands on the deal immediately. In addition to turning himself into his ultimate incarnation this deal had the minor side-effect of collapsing the local multiverse into a singular unified timeline. This, surprisingly, has had no adverse effects.
  • Skills/Abilities: Baro Ki'Teer is mortal and human but he is a wily and quick human who's had years to get very good at delving into very dangerous situations and getting out with loot. He is also quite good at commerce and the art of making something seem more necessary and expensive than it really ought to be.
  • Items:
    • His current clothes
    • 4,296,000 Credits (a standard currency from his home universe, currently-held value equivalent to $64.44 USD)
    • 7,332 Orokin Ducats (an archaic form of currency used purely by Baro Ki'Teer)
    • Aklex (a pair of modern-looking heavy pistols with attached flashlights)
  • Misc:
    • Baro's favorite animal is the Desert Skate, a highly territorial species of ray that lives within the sands of Mars and Phobos.

~Pentigan: Given The World as Myth nature of the existing COLC multiverse, that merger in the backstory is obviously going to only apply to Warframe worlds...not that that affects anything, I just found it amusing to point out. Baro is accepted.
