Complaining: Generic Doomsday Villain

Anyway, do you guys think the Feral Villain draft will be good to launch soon?

So what do we do about the other definition- the “Flat Character villain” one?

Yard it? If nobody bothers to make a draft for it, nothing else we can do.

Since "rename" got downvoted, couldn't we just repurpose Generic Doomsday Villain as that definition? You'd think it would be easier to remove the examples that don't fit than to start from scratch. Just a suggestion.

I feel like that could work. Tweak the definition to fit the misuse, remove non-examples, and transfer applicable entries to Feral Villain.

And do we keep the name, or change it to something that will encourage less complaining?

Unfortunately, it looks like Feral Villain might be already seeing misuse. Someone added Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective after his Villainous Breakdown, but while he's certainly more wild and deranged, he's still got enough presence of mind that I don't think he qualifies for this. You can judge for yourself:

I would say its misuse, as the trope description implies that the feral-ness of the villain has to be their natural mindset.

I just removed another instance of misuse: The Meta from Red Vs Blue, added by ~Flynt_Coal

So, Another Guy is forum banned, but they did respond, basically reiterating the fact that Rattigan... is a rat. I told them that the example was still misuse.

Should I add another note making it clear that "feral" means more than just "unhinged" in this context?

If a trope requires notes about its use, maybe the description has some room for improvements? Some tropes address common pegs in a separate paragraph.

Or maybe the name should be changed, as tropers rarely read descriptions anyway.

Perhaps adding a note to not confuse Feral Villain with Furry Reminder could help with the talking/anthro-animal type misuse.

Side note: I removed the page image from Feral Villain, as it was of Ratigan, whom we determined wasn't an example.

I think "feral" is a fine descriptor, people just tend to misuse villain tropes in general. Remember the misuse Jerks Are Worse Than Villains got?

Shouldn't image removals get the IP tag even if they don't fit?

Yeah, er, you can't just remove an image like that unless it blatantly needs to be pulled. Not being an example isn't a pull reason.

I'm thinking this trope needs a rename. Perhaps Mindlessly Feral Villain

I've brought this idea up in the Image picking thread, but want to run it by here as well to make sure we've got the reworked tropes correct, but given what we think Feral Villain is trying to be as a page, we'd considering just moving the picture of Doomsday currently on Generic Doomsday Villain to Feral Villain, since it seems to demonstrate that better than the "Flat character who's a villain" trope that will be the other half of the split.

We'd need a new picture for the "Flat character who's a villain" page, but that can wait until the repair shop has done some amount of cleanup.
