Nobody's really saying it is; in fact, a wick check for it is under consideration.

Yeah why does Aromantic redirect to that, seems rather odd.

rjd1922: in the wick check thread Mew suggested it was a stereotype subversion, as most asexuals in fiction are also aromantic, but considering the amount of examples that are on Romantic Asexual... it just seems like the old cases with the other "LGBT people exist" tropes, where it was noteworthy back then, but is chairs now that there's more general representation in media.

I plan on doing a wick check that covers "romantic asexuals exist" in addition to the two example types I spotted on the main page (identity realization and love life strife).

I think it's worth keeping, it just needs a clearer scope to focus on the narrative contrast.

Maybe we could retool it to Asexual Romance and focus on the plot of asexuals having romantic relationships instead of it being a character trope.

Asexuality could become a useful note with links to various tropes pertaining to aromanticism, asexuality, and those who find sex boring.

What I meant is by merging the main Asexuality page with the Useful Notes page.

The concept of linking to other asexual/aromantic tropes would be covered by the disambig.

Well, it's been three days. I know we've been discussing other tropes to include in the disambiguation, but do we at least have enough consensus at this point to disambig?

Asexuality is probably going to end up as a disambiguation regardless of what tropes we split from it, but we should preserve examples in a sandbox so people can move them to other tropes (current or future).

Yes. That's what I was asking, if we could declare at least what we're doing with the trope agreed upon.

Add me to the pile questioning whether Romantic Asexual is much better than Asexuality as a trope. It's as much of a "character is this orientation" trope as the others. And I say this as someone who identifies as a romantic asexual.

Romantic Asexual is most likely getting a wick check, so it'll get its own thread.

I'd just leave a note here: I noticed at least one example of an ace character being ace due to the trope of What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?—they don't understand the difference between romance and friendship, nor the idea of Relationship Upgrade.

While discussing the creation of a disambiguation page for Asexuality, it would be a great opportunity to create a trope called Sex Is Boring (currently, it redirects to Asexuality (in Main, not Useful Notes)).

Disambiguating is nearly unanimous at 30 yeas and 1 nay, so it'll probably be safe to call in a couple of days per the Three-Day Rule. Unlike the thread for Critical Research Failure, which doesn't have nearly this high of a ratio, I think this one will be safe to call when the minimum amount of time has passed.

Yeah doesn't seem much of a reason to keep it open any longer than needed.
