It has a redirect called Mind Control, no wonder that it's used as a trope. It is a trope, certainly, and we ought to turn it into a proper trope page.
I'd be tempted to turn Mind Control into a supertrope, redirect Mind Manipulation to Mind Control and leave all the wicks alone. This is how we handled the no-fault rename of Distressed Damsel->Damsel in Distress.

I'm good with turning Mind Control into a supertrope. While there isn't much usage for Mind Manipulation, maybe we should rename Mind Manipulation into something that's more indicative that it's an index (like Mind Manipulation Index) so there's no misuse there.

To me, the difference is that Brainwashed is about someone becoming a puppet via mind control. And Mind control would just be a general supertrope for all forms of mind manipulation.

I still think Mind Control should be the main name, with Mind Manipulation as a redirect. The latter may be alliterative, but the former is a preexisting term.

Yeah, having an index and a supertrope seems redundant, especially when thousands of wicks are involved and our efforts would be best concentrated elsewhere. for making Mind Control an index/supertrope and redirecting Mind Manipulation to it.

I think the fact that over three fourths of the wicks are under Mind Control instead of Mind Manipulation is another point in favor of using that as the primary name. Unless I screwed somethhing up when using my text editor's line count to check the wick count, Mind Manipulation has 986 wicks, in contrast to 3431 for Mind Control.

I agree that the only name change that needs to happen is swapping Mind Manipulation with its redirect (Mind Control), since, as previously mentioned, the latter has significantly more wicks.
This wouldn't be the first time a trope's redirect ended up becoming its primary name; Gonna Fly Now Montage was renamed to Training Montage because the latter not only already existed as a redirect, but had significantly more wicks.

I didn't know Damsel in Distress already existed as a redirect (or at least I didn't think to check back then); I just knew it was originally called Distressed Damsel, despite the former being a preexisting term and not the latter.
