Unilateral Changes Cleanup

On this wiki, we like to operate by consensus. Big moves and changes need community discussion, at least to a degree. However, some tropers like to do things solo...and leave a trail of messes behind for the rest of us.

This is a thread for the community to tackle these issues together. We can ping tropers over, clean up/revert changes, and in general, make sure massive alterations don't occur in secret.

I think the first thing we should do is figure out exactly what absolutely requires consensus, like obviously major page moves and redefinitions need one but something like adding one trope example doesn't. But there are the things that are more grey like the ATT thread that prompted this creation where a page with the Film was split into Live-Action Films and Animated Films I am not really sure if that requires consensus or not.

I have a question! I recently moved the content from Heartwarming.Dark Souls to Heartwarming.Dark Souls I, under the logic that the Dark Souls subpages are for the series as a whole, while Dark Souls I subpages are for the first game - and what was on Heartwarming.Dark Souls was only about the first game's moments.

However, considering the amount of content that was on the page, I'm wondering whether I should have discussed it somewhere first (probably the thread for splitting the first work in a series from the page for the series as a whole).

I mean, it's probably a good idea to get support for a move like that either way, just to be safe, but I'm not sure where the line should be drawn.

Well, with the edit history pages now expanded, I do think I have reverted some changes by AHI-3000. Pages such as moving UsefulNotes.Public Domain to Public Domain, Ivory Coast to Côte d'Ivoire, and Soviet Union to Soviet Russia, Ukraine, and So On.

I'm tempted to reverting Saint Petersburg to The City Formerly Known as..., and Myanmar to That Southeast Asian Country.

I do think both are accurate, but I feel like it should have been discussed. I feel like there's a pattern on Useful Notes pages upon this.

I do think I'll stop on Timor-Leste. Next time, I'll ask here if I should revert more unilaterally-changed stuff.

"The City Formerly Known As" and "That Southeast Asian Country" are terrible titles that don't give any indication of what they're about or help people find the page. They're not even particularly witty.

"Soviet Russia, Ukraine and So On" is only marginally less terrible.

Don't forget that Saint Petersburg isn't the only major city in the world to be renamed recently.

AHI-3000 also unilaterally moved Global Warming to Climate Change, as I brought up here. I think that should be reverted; "climate change" can mean many things.

@Willowleaf 24, if all the examples were about the first game, then it sounds like that was the right move to make.

Some of AHI-3000's changes were to Superhero and Supervillain.

• Supervillain formerly indexed a list of ComicBook/ supervillain pages.
• Superhero formerly indexed superhero works. The superhero works were moved to Superhero Stories (originally created as a redirect to Superhero) and subpages thereof. AHI had planned to then move them from the subpages to "Superhero [Media]" pages in Main/ by requesting the "Superhero [Media]" pages to be made as redirects, but that request was declined.
• Superhero Literature already existed, but was moved to SuperheroStories.Literature, I assume to match the rest.

What should be done with these?

I guess revert those.

Also reverted Climate Change to Global Warming by the way. All we need to do is to revert all of those wicks.

Why did you ping those specific tropers?

They were the ones who moved Global Warming to Climate Change, and they must help on reverting it.

Well, if they're not going to come, then we'll just revert these then.

Also, I do think this is an ideal page for the rampant undiscussed image changes so that it can be addressed to the IP threads.

One of AHI-3000's changes was redirecting a bunch of pages to Sony Interactive Entertainment. Should they be restored?

The pages they hit were Bigbig Studios, Evolution Studios, Incognito Entertainment, 989 Studios, SIE San Mateo Studio, Sony Imagesoft, Sony Online Entertainment

Without knowing the previous content of the pages, this seems like a good idea.
