Too Much Fainting --Wick Cleanup

The Soft-Split cleanup thread has been working on Fainting, and recently spun off two sub-tropes: Faint in Shock and Fake Faint. We've cleaned the On-page examples, but Sandbox.Hey The Wick Check Fainted shows that around 60% of existing Fainting wicks should be listed under Faint in Shock. This thread aims to clean up dangling wicks that should be placed on the sub-tropes, and would appreciate the help.

If you change wicks to point to either Faint in Shock or Fake Faint, please don't forget to Crosswick!

Since we expect quite a few Fainting Wicks to still exist after the check, please report in on the sections that you have checked, so we don't all end up covering the same ground.

EDIT: Further working through the wicks has lead to some other discoveries. In addition to Fake Faint and Faint in Shock, there are a couple of other related tropes:

• Face Fault: Comically exaggerated reaction to another character saying something dumb or shocking. Literally stunned by what they heard. Most common in Manga and other comics.
• After discussion across several bits of the wiki, and a TLP run for the concept of Knockout Stench, it seems that a character passing out due to a smell is a downplayed variant of Wilting Odor. Sometimes these are listed under Fainting with or without the phrase "Faint in Shock".

As of 10-11-2022, wicks starting from the bottom of the list have been cleaned up through Ready Jet Go/

I changed a Fainting link on Simon's Cat to Faint in Shock, but I didn't crosswick, since I thought that was for when you've just launched a page.

Yeah, technically all examples need to be crosswicked, but it's so poorly enforced that people forget all the time.

For the record, I'm currently working through Western Animation.

Technically, yes. What I've been doing to make it go just a little smoother as I work through a batch of wicks is: Collect examples that need to be added to the trope page on a list in a word-processing program. When I've got a batch (Usually when I'm about ready to take a break for a while) I'll add the examples to the trope page in a single edit, such as this one.

Yep. A real pain in the butt that TVTropes 2.0 promises to solve. Sadly, that will probably never happen given the lack of progress in the past 6 years.

^^ Only trouble is, this is a newish computer so I don't have any word processors.

Windows based? Even something as simple as notepad works, as it really only needs plain text, none of the fancy formatting stuff.

Try Google Docs.

Looking for context on some of these, from Ready Jet Go!:

• Fainting: Several.
  • Mitchell faints:
    • At the sight of Mindy at the end of "Jet Shrinks the Kids". One FIS entry notes that she's his love interest: Is he relieved, worried, what?
    • At one point in "That's One Gigantic Pumpkin, Jet Propulsion!".
    • When Sunspot gets up close to him in "Our Sun Is A Star".
  • Sunspot faints on Dr. Skelley's lap in "The Tide is High" after discovering that the crab he has befriended has disappeared. Also mentioned under Drama Queen. Does he actually lose consciousness, or is he acting to get some attention/sympathy?
  • In "Mindy's Bedtime", Sean collapses after walking backwards for a long time. Tell us what the context is, at least to the extent that we can tell what caused the faint? Tired from the effort? Dizzy? Other?

The Faint in Shock entries on the page seem good.

• Fainting:In the first episode, after P. King gets his robot, he appears to faint and fall to the ground. It's actually just for dramatic effect and not real fainting.

Can't tell if this is Fake Faint or the character parodying Faint in Shock. My personal line between the two cases is Intent to Decieve: Did he expect his friends to think that he had actually fainted?

I find that I need to get off of the Wiki - way too much of a time sink. I will not be participating here for some time - possibly ever.

OK, I tried using notepad... but I can't access my old documents! I make one document, but when I open the app again, it just starts a new one.

That's bizarre. Like I said, I use docs, and it works for me, though I've also never done the batch method described here.

This might be a stupid question, but are you saving your documents before exiting? And are you trying to open them up from the same folder you saved them to?

I didn't save them to any folder, but I did hit save.

• This can happen to Ruel when he has no choice but to spend his money.
• Slo-Mo the Brâkmarian referee faints twice at the sight of women actually playing Gobbowl.
• Elaine faints after Evangelyne and Cleophelia "delicately" propel their boat down a cliff.
• Sadlygrove isn't immune either, as demonstrated when Eva tells him she's pregnant in the OVA.

It's supposed to be on Netflix. Does anyone know this series?
