Have an idea for a new trope, but don't know for sure if it's a good idea? Did Trope Finder give you similar concepts, but not exactly what you wanted? Are you just looking for a focus to a broader idea?
You've come to the right place!
On this thread, you can share your ideas with the masses before making that TLP draft, so if there's any lingering uncertainty about the validity of your idea or you just want some help pinning down a good idea, ask away and help others out, too!
A related sandbox I need to pitch is the Trope Idea Salvage Yard. If you've an idea but can't personally work on it, you can add it to the yard and let someone else create the draft. Or you can browse it yourself if you need more draft ideas, whether or not you feel they should be mentioned here first.
Got ideas for non-trope pages you need help with? Never fear, the New Page Workshop Thread is here!
With that out of the way: Let's discuss some ideas.

Isn't that The Scrappy? Hate Sinks can be scrappies if the audience hates them for unexpected reasons.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMight be worth thinking about expanding to a more general concept? That is, cases a work is supposed to evoke X negative reaction but evokes Y negative reaction instead, or for that matter is supposed to evoke X positive reaction but evokes Y positive reaction instead.
Like The Jungle example that was brought up, the intent was to make audiences furious about the mistreatment and exploitation of workers. Audiences were furious, enough so as to create significant industry changes — but about the unsanitary production of food.
Sounds like a variant of Misaimed Fandom.
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallJust been dumping some trope ideas and genres onto the salvage yard. Before I add this one, does it seem distinct enough from Heat Wave?
Sinister Summer(?): summer used as a setting to heighten eeriness. From this article:
The days are getting longer, the nights shorter. Cicadas buzz, a relentless nervous drone; you try to breathe, but the air is dense and suffocating. In the distance, the atmosphere shimmers—or is that a hallucination? Are you going insane?
The stifling days of summer make a perfect setting for eerie stories. In these long, strange days we find ourselves in a liminal zone of heightened temperatures, tempers, and lusts. When writing my novel Catherine House, which takes place over three years at a mysterious secluded university, I found that the summer chapters were the most claustrophobic and sinister. Here are eight novels set during those anxious, menacing summer days[…]
Yeah, it sounds different, it's not about the heat, it's about the time being ripe for horror?
But if you're looking for the season + heat, that's Indian Summer?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Is this scenario common enough to trope? Person #1 wants to confess something (usually a love confession) to Person #2, but are too scared to say it directly to them. So they make an effigy of Person #2, usually a doll, and confess to that instead, which usually gets very embarrassing if somebody walks in on them mid-confession.

Ah, there it is. Thank you.
Not sure if Alliterative List is subverted at the last item enough, to be worth splitting off:
- Girl Genius: 2007-06-01: A S-list, when talking of Mechanicsburg:
We grew safe, secure, and fat from the spoils of conquest.
^I don't think that's an example of alliterative list since the only points of alliteration are the first two items.
I also don't think Alliterative List is a concept that needs further splitting

This is probably a pretty late realization considering how far along the wick cleaning is going, but the Uncanny Valley stuff is starting to make me wonder if we need a trope for something like "inhuman tell". A lot of wicks misuse(d) the trope for "you can tell this character isn't human because ____", which can cause the reaction, but it's not the reaction (if you know what I mean). For example, one I just cut was about a character's hands being cold and staying cold even as someone else holds them.
It may be too late to move a bunch of Uncanny Valley wicks over, but it could still be useful for presenting misuse down the road.
Thoughts?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Purenessthat seems like Mark of the Supernatural. their mark being their abnormally cold body temeprature

Ah, forgot about that one.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI have an idea for a trope, this one is kind of limited to print (but it might be expanded to other media if possible) but I noticed some manga change their logo's color each volume . The examples so far I can think now are One Piece, Akame ga Kill, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Tokyo Mew Mew as well one Spanish edition of Berserk.
I don't think I'm good writing a trope page so is it ok to put it in Some sort of adoption? I'm ok with someone else does a draft of it for the top.

Got any images to see what you're talking about? But makes me think of Idiosyncratic Cover Art, but that doesn't seem quite right.

Evangelion◊ Tokyo Mew Mew◊ Akame ga Kill◊ Berserk japanese edition◊ Berserk spanish edition◊
It could be a sub trope of Idiosyncratic Cover Art as well.
I'mma be honest—that seems like such a trivial detail that I can't see it being a meaningful trope, and Idiosyncratic Cover Art would likely cover it.
Edited by Willbyr on Oct 30th 2022 at 9:56:47 AM
Some of it is likely so it's easier to see amongst the background, some of it is like Colour-Coded for Your Convenience matching character and title color in Tokyo Mew Mew◊...
I'd say that there's something to it, troping design / color / visual theory, but not sure what to call it.
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576^^Agree with it being covered by / too minor to warrant a split from Idiosyncratic Cover Art

I just made Art.Beast Fables and realised we don't have an index for digital art. Are there enough works with pages to warrant one? The only other one I can think of is Realistic Pokémon.
Ok, regarding the logo color change examples what about putting the examples on the Idiosyncratic Cover Art page? At least indicating that is a common trend of the Idiosyncratic Cover Art trope.
Also, i just remembered that the one piece manga also does the logo color change thing, so here's another example for it
If you want to add it to the description for Idiosyncratic Cover Art, swing by the Trope Description Improvement Drive. But I'm pretty sure you can add the examples to the page without the description expansion
This thread of mine is suggesting me to come here. Any thoughts about making a trope about Tragicomedy, if it's not the same as Dramedy?
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔What's the difference between the two? Does one lean more towards the comedy?
Not sure if we need to delve into specific reasons characters are hated, and folks are already bad at recognizing when a character dislike is intentional (cc Hate Sink debate). Sounds like it’d invite examples like “they hated Alice for being X, but I hated her for being Y”. The other aspect of your example is Informed Attribute with bad execution.
