Question: some time ago, I added this to the Characters.Hollow Knight NP Cs in the Last Stag's folder:
- Informed Species: Despite his name, he looks nothing like the actual stag beetles◊, especially given that he lacks their trademark dual pincers. If anything, his singular horns on his head and on his back make him look more like a rhinoceros beetle.
The problem is, as I can see by this thread, it appears we determine do examples fall under Informed Species by how a layman would see them as. And I believe that a layman would not differentiate between stag beetles and rhinoceros beetles, instead lumping them into the same category: a beetle.
However, stag beetles and rhino beetles still have an important distinction: stag beetles◊ have big dual pincers, while rhino beetles have a single horn on the top of their heads. And the Last Stag looks more like the latter: see for yourself◊.
So, here's the question: should this tidbit I added be removed since laymen don't differentiate between beetles, or be kept since stag beetles and rhino beetles are still distinct enough to be different? And if the answer is to cut, do you think it can be salvaged for Artistic License – Biology or Non-Indicative Name instead?

"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Done. Thanks.
Vi: Well, it's not like we're getting attacked by a giant wasp spider guardian! | Leif: Never combine those words ever again.Oswald claims that the titular character doesn't look much like an octopus, but when I was little I could still tell that he is one. When you see an animal with eight tentacles, it's not hard to think "octopus". At worst, he looks like a spider.

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media. He looks enough like an octopus. I used to watch a lot of Nick Jr. programming when I had young family members to babysit and I don't recall any of the kiddies having trouble identifying his species.
I've removed this from the Informed Species page:
- The Cat from Red Dwarf looks like a human, with absolutely no visual clues as to his real species apart from a pair of fangs. However, the Cat is actually stated to be a creature evolved from the spectacularly inbred descendants of Lister's pet cat.
The entry itself admits that Cat isn't a cat at all. He's just a human-like being who evolved from cats instead of monkeys.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading. This is the third time thenabster126 readded Charmy Bee to InformedSpecies.Video Games and the fourth time he added it overall. That's edit-warring all around.

I'm mainly a fan of underrated media.Report it to a mod.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessGlanced at wicks and found this on SpongeBobSquarePants.Tropes D To I:
- Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy don’t really look human. In fact, Barnacle Boy resembles Squidward.
Has anybody ever mistaken them for anything but humans? Cuz they obviously look like very caricatured humans to me◊, and it's even more obvious in their younger years◊.
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. They've always been humans. They look more human than Spongebob resembles an actual Sea Sponge, and more than Squidward resembles an actual Squid.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessPretty sure we agreed cut them on InformedSpecies.Western Animation, so we can cut them there too.
Squidward is an octopus.

"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”And he looks nothing like that either.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, yeah, your main point still stands.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Bump.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Why? Is there a particular post you need checked?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.Eh, no. Anyway...
This is from Oggy and the Cockroaches:
Informed Species: They don't look much like real cockroaches, since they only have four limbs, unrealistic colors and long, pointed noses.
Does this one count?

"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”Looking at the images on the character's page and they look enough like cockroaches for me to not be confused.
Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI am not sure though.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”They're Funny Animals that look as much like cockroaches as Oggy looks like a cat. Not confusing enough to make Informed Species.
'K then. I'll cut if no further objections.
"Listen up, Marina, because this is SUPER important. Whatever you do, don't eat th“ “DON'T EAT WHAT?! Your text box ran out of space!”I find it odd that the main page for Informed Species doesn't mention the titular character of H.R. Pufnstuf
From Series.HR Pufnstuf:
- Pufnstuf is ostensibly a dragon, but looks more like a prototype McDonald's mascot.
Should H.R. Pufnstuf be added to Informed Species (under Puppets)?

Kirby is awesome. That's low on context. How are we to understand why "a prototype McDonald's mascot" can't also resemble a dragon?
I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe. Here's some context from The Other Wiki:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.R._Pufnstuf
Here's an image of the titular character◊ (he's the yellow character with a large mouth in the centre)
The bottom half looks close enough to a dragon, but the head is obviously not dragon-like.
Edit: Image is now a regular link

Kirby is awesome.
I agree, the My Little Pony characters are horse-like enough to recognize what kind of animals they are without knowing the show. And "horse-like creature with black and white stripes" is recognizable as a zebra, so Zecora is also easy to identify.
