Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes.
All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:
Other relevant threads:
- Problems with pre-existing images on Characters page need to go via Image Pickin'. Low quality images can usually be upgraded without discussion, but don't change or delete images without Image Pickin' approval.
- Character Specific Pages have their own separate cleanup thread
- Self-demonstrating character pages also have their own thread.
- Inanimate objects and locations on character pages have their own cleanup thread
- Character pages for Reality Show contestants are on-topic here, but there's also a dedicated Reality Show cleanup thread which deals with the No Real Life Examples, Please! grey areas these shows create, and may sometimes be a better place to discuss them.

I am not at all familiar with Gundam, but is there a significant difference between the series? If not the new page could just be made a redirect to the old one, for the time being.

I also support putting MK1 tropes in the character specific pages.
So in regards to Jack Jeanne, I’m kinda conflicted on what images to use (though I’m kinda leaning towards using the on Aksys’s website). Because I remembered finding transparent images on Tokyo Xanadu’s switch port website and using them before finding out that its not exactly allowed to copy images from sites.
What do you guys think? I'm not sure if it's the right place to ask (since this is more about character pages in general).

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ALooks like we built consensus about Characters.Mortal Kombat and Characters.Mortal Kombat 1...next steps? Should we get started?
I’d say the next step would be to move the character folders on the MK1 character page that belong to characters who already have their own character-specific pages over to their respective character-specific pages (I.E. Move the Scorpion folder over to the Kuai Liang Page, move the General Shao folder over to the Shao page, move the Johnny Cage folder over to the Johnny Cage page etc.) while leaving redirects that lead to those pages on the MK1 character page. And to make sure that no one tries to change it all back, be sure to mention in your edit reason that this was all decided on the Character Page Cleanup thread.

I turned Gen V into an index page and created The Boys (2019): Godolkin University.
Good start. The rule is that we need at least one trope for each character, so any scope to fill the gaps? Or do we need to comment them out until someone else can add tropes?
Give it a day before enforcing the rule
Justice League of America: Supporting Cast is incredibly short. Would it be okay to merge it back into the main Justice League of America page? Wouldn't really enlargen it by much.
The character page for Blue Beetle (2023) just got added to the DC Extended Universe character index. The reasoning was that the official reboot won't begin until Creature Commandos comes out, so Blue Beetle can be seen as part of the DCEU canon for now.
Is there any objection to this decision, because I'd like to move the character folders to their appropriate pages.
Characters.Mortal Kombat 11 and Characters.Mortal Kombat II have been updated with the Mortal Kombat 1 tropes and the note from ATT.
That’s not what was decided. That was only supposed to be done with the characters who had their own character-specific pages.
Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft: Secondary Characters was suffering from a lot of tropeless or minimally-troped character entries, and was showing a too-long warning recently. A lot of this was due to the page becoming just a big list of every single Legendary card, regardless of their actual in-story importance. I decided to hit two birds with one stone and rework the page to focus specifically on characters relevant to the story of each expansion, which shrinks the page and makes sure the characters are tropable. I put it in a sandbox here.
I'm making this post so I'm not doing a sweeping change without announcing it, but I'm going to move the sandbox into the real page tomorrow barring any feedback.
So in that whole thread, we were talking about character-specific pages and not character pages as a whole?
If you’re referring to this thread, then yes.
If you’re referring to the ATT thread, then just the part where we were talking about characters having folders for each timeline on the same page.
Edited by CorvusIX on Oct 1st 2023 at 10:58:09 AM
You think I should take it back to ATT? It makes no sense we're doing this for the character-specific pages and not the character pages for each game.
I think it would be better to just leave everything as is. If people thought that it should be done for all of the character pages, they would have already said so.
Characters.Undead Girl Murder Farce is mostly tropeless folders. Free to cut those?
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupYep, hide the tropeless folders.
YMMV.The Flash Eobard Thawne looks to be a subpage of a character-specific page. That's not allowed. Anyone willing to do some sorting before this goes to the cut list?
Thanks! I cut the CM examples and moved the Memetic Mutation section to Arrowverse, since it says that's where the memes originated.
Edited by Tabs on Oct 2nd 2023 at 10:19:10 AM
I'll sort it. It also has a trivia page with a single trope that can probably go in either Trivia. The Flash or Trivia.Justice League The Flashpoint Paradox.
ETA: Copypasted their content into a sandbox, as some need rewrites too. The pages can be cut now.

I'm looking at Characters.Harry Potter Hufflepuff and I'm seeing quite a few misused tropes in the mix; I'm suspecting the other pages have similar issues. Noting it here because I'll try to run through at some point to clear out what I can, but if anyone wants to weigh in on anything that'd help.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessThe character pages for the Agarest Senki series (first game, ZERO, and 2; Mirage doesn't have a page) are a mess. Nearly every folder from those pages are filled with ZCEs, bulleted/slashed tropes, Word Cruft; 2's page in particular has all of the characters put into one folder as opposed to individual folders. Could probably need some help cleansing these pages.
"The name's Uzume Tennouboshi! Yeah, it's pretty badass, I know." - Uzume, Megadimension Neptunia VIIThere's nothing inherently wrong with putting characters into a combined folder if their sections aren't big enough, but the other stuff is a problem.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessCharacters.Cat Ra Phantom Of The Mystic Mountains has only one trope. Should it be merged with the main page?
Valdo
Bumping my post.
Additionally, per this post, can we do about the SEED pages?
Edit re:Jack Jeanne: Maybe I'll use the ones on Aksys's website, if that's fine here.
