This is a thread to discuss those Administrivia pages in need of a little updating- you know the ones. The ones that still cite rules we've long since changed, or the ones that don't properly cite our current standards. Some of them are even scattered in Main/!
So, this is the place to take those pages and fix them up with the help of the community.
For a list of current projects, see Outdated Administrivia Pages.
Note: This thread is not for asking mods to make one-off edits to Locked Pages, Administrivia-related or otherwise, such as requesting additions to an Example Sectionectomy index. Please use this thread for that.

Maybe we should just do a complete overhaul, like with the ZCE page?

I'll go ahead and add it. Thank you!
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportYou are welcome, and thank you for adding it. Finally, now that Check is enshrined as Word Cruft, we can....
uhh... does this actually change anything?

One of these days, all of you will accept me as your supreme overlord.Sure it does. We now have an actual rule to point to if people use it.
Any thoughts on the Sandbox.TLP Guidelines?

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessSome minor things:
- The line about the drafts being bolded was one I had to add personally, as it originally described the checkmarks that are no longer there. It's basically the same way unread forum-thread posts are treated.
- Good point, missed that one.
- Definitely!
- Yeah, me neither tbh.
- True.
- Also true.
Admittedly I missed most of these because I was focused on the sections about launching in specific, since that was where most of the bad information was.
Also, feel free to do some tweaking of your own, if you'd like.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAny reason not to update Pages Needing Wicks with the new Wick health ratings?
Disambig Needed: Help with those issues! tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324299140A37493800&page=24#comment-576Vile Villain, Saccharine Show has more than a few examples who eventually turned good, like Discord and Starlight Glimmer and almost every Steven Universe villain.
The Protomen enhanced my life. While this thread has mostly been for Administrivia pages, I don't see why we can't expand this to other outdated pages, too...
If we do though, this shouldn't be kept in Wiki Talk.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI've hollered for a mod to see if this thread can be moved, and turned into a proper cleanup thread.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWell, those villains counted once. Maybe there could be a way to mention that they once were villainous and heinous and fit the trope?
As for making this a project for all types of pages, I'm not too hot about it. Correcting wiki policy pages because standards have changed and correcting examples/descriptions/whatever on other pages because of story progression or different factors are two different things. I dare say that the problem is with this thread's title as it's a bit too general for its original goal.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)Mm, that's true, but we don't have anywhere to work on the second version, AFAIK. Eventually this thread will run out of Administrivia pages to fix, and after that, I don't see any reason not to shift focus to other outdated pages in need. It's the same principal of "page was made, things changed, and now the page is inaccurate".
My original goal was just to fix, well, pages that were out of date. It doesn't matter much to me if they're Administrivia pages, work pages, trope pages, or anything else. It just so happens that the only pages I was concerned over at the time were Administrivia, and that's what everyone else decided to focus on, as well.
Besides, making this an official project thread will at least get more hands on board, which is always helpful.
IDK, I'll let the mods decide, I guess.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI thought this projects thread was the place to discuss stuff becoming outdated due to the series progressing (in fact, Lalalei started this thread and you've posted in it, so I thought you'd know about it). It mentions subjective information, but it seems like people have corrected normal tropes in it, too. If it isn't, please correct me.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)That could work too, but I think that's more for when people add things like speculation, time-based language, and similar things because they're troping the work as it's going, not necessarily for "this character fit this trope back in season 2, but 3 seasons later, they don't, but their page still says they do". I wouldn't be opposed to working on it there, I'm just not sure it's the exact same thing.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI suppose it is more about correcting wording which makes pages age poorly rather than just stuff being outdated. Well, I guess both of our cases are matters of two different things. I'll let the mods decide, too.
Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)My two cents is that the wider the scope of this thread goes, the more collision with existing threads and potential confusion about what goes where. I would keep this as talking about Administrivia clean-up/improvements.
Gotcha, fair enough. ~
So should we take the topic of the work page to the other thread cited?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI think that'd be best.
Alright.
While you're here, what do you think of the edits we made on Sandbox.TLP Guidelines?
A Guide to Easy Launching of Your TLP needs a lot of work because it's mostly about things that no longer happen, so we need to decide what to do there, but one thing at a time.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessOnce we’re done with dinner, I’ll fire up the laptop and check it out.
Going ahead and double-posting for the bump. I think Sandbox.TLP Guidelines is very solid overall; I made one slight grammar tweak. Also, I wanted to suggest that the title "What a TLP should contain as it prepares for launch" should be reworded...as is, to my reading it implies that a TLP shouldn't be launched unless it contains those things, when they're really meant to be strong suggestions. Suggesting "Ways to strengthen your TLP" or something similar.
Edited by Willbyr on Dec 8th 2019 at 7:49:41 AM
I'd agree with that, most of the stuff mentioned is stuff a majority of new drafts never mention. I'll admit that when I first read this page, I genuinely did think I needed those things, all of them, in my trope for it to launch.

The second bullet and I think the mislaunch bullet are outdated. But once they go, this page is so short you can see both ads at the top and bottom. Is this page really necessary? Its briefness belies that launching a trope isn't super-duper easy and actually takes time and work.
