This is a thread for checking up on pages for works that have not been released yet, to make sure that they are not straying into rampant speculation or posting crazy behind the scenes spoilers. You can bring both individual examples or entire pages to attention here.
In extreme cases, any page can be locked, but hopefully that won't be necessary.
(As these pages often are hit with zero-context examples and shoehorning as well, all four - speculation, spoilers, ZCEs, and shoehorning may get addressed simultaneously.)
The policy governing this effort is Creating A Work Page For An Unreleased Work. Cleanup is being tracked using the Unreleased Works sandbox.
All pages for unreleased works should include a %% comment at the top of the page, confirming the policy and linking to this thread and the Administrivia page. It doesn't have to be exactly the same as the example provided here, but this provides a template to work with.
%% Speculative troping is not allowed on TV Tropes.
%%
%% We trope what DOES happen in works, not what MIGHT happen or is LIKELY to happen.
%%
%% For unreleased works where all we have to go on is advertising and other supplemental materials, we have some detailed guidelines, which can be found at Administrivia/CreatingAWorkPageForAnUnreleasedWork.
%%
%% NOTE - these rules also mean that unreleased works should only have one page image, and that image should NOT be changed again until the work is released.
%%
%% If you have questions, please consult the Unreleased Work Speculation Cleanup thread at https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=15514631230A64268600
%%
%% Thank you.

Okay, I’m gonna make the redirect now. I’m moving my stuff to WesternAnimation.Luck 2022. Thanks.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. Can someone look at Series.Resident Evil 2022 for me? They’re going ahead and saying that Lance Reddick’s character is going to be Albert Wesker. I mean it IS, the news outlets confirmed it, but there’s no word of it in the trailers. I only put it in the synopsis because I figured it was fair game…
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.RWBY: Ice Queendom is still a day or two from official release, and all sorts of stuff has crept onto the page. (Because it's RWBY, I'm not surprised.)
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.I've added The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to the complaining cleanup sandbox because I've seen stealth Broken Base shoehorns and insults like "very expensive Fanfic" thrown around on its Trivia and YMMV pages. I expect these problems to get much worse in August and September.

Over on the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet page there is an entry for Wide-Open Sandbox that only has the main website as a source and has been hidden with %% with the note "Sourced only from website." Is the official website really not a creditable enough source on it's own? And if not, would pointing out that the game is explicitly called an "open-world adventure" in the trailer description be good enough to un-hide the entry?
Was the open-world gameplay demonstrated anywhere?
I'm the one who hid it IIRC.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. The trailers do show off the open-world design with various wide shots of the outdoor areas. Also, in addition to my previous two questions, if the official website isn't good enough to be a source on its own could someone direct me to the list of what does and doesn't qualify as a proper source for future reference?
In short, we cannot trope things entirely based on creator statements alone, because Word of God isn't creative expression.
Edited by Albert3105 on Jul 2nd 2022 at 12:04:06 PM
We also assume statements on their own are misleading if not outright false, and liable to change or become outdated as the product develops. Therefore the only "truly" tropable materials are promos.
Eg. Let's say the actor of Bob in Alice and Bob: The Movie swears up and down in interviews that he's playing the villain, but he's a nice guy in the trailer. I won't know if that's true until the movie comes out; he might have just been a Lying Creator or Trolling Creator, so I can't put any villain tropes for him. In contrast, I can look at the poster and say, yup, that's definitely Orange/Blue Contrast, regardless of what the actual movie shows.

I see. Thank you for letting me know, I'll be sure to keep this in mind moving forward.
Question about Film.Nope: There is a viral marketing website with information on a location and a character from the film. Is that a legitimate source of information or no?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I don't think it counts. The film releases soon enough that it isn't a big concern.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Question: what do we do if all tropes on a page get commented out? Because Showa American Story had all its tropes commented out for violating the unreleased work rules by Silverblade 2, and is now empty of tropes.
Do we leave it, or do something?
TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallDo we have something resembling a release date?
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Per the Steam page:
So not yet.

TRS Queue | Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining | Troper WallSo I found the page for Film. The Gray Man 2022 with just a synopsis and a poster. Had to go in, add tropes, and index it the best I could. We should think about making a formal warning that if you’re gonna create a work page, you need THREE tropes or it’s cut - people shouldn’t just create and abandon pages.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.I had actually sent the creator of Film. The Gray Man 2022 a stub notifier some time ago but forgot to check back on it. It's actually out in cinemas now (a week ahead of its Netflix release) and so doesn't really need citations anymore.
Green Lantern: Beware My Power got leaked online a week before release. Anybody willing to clean up any uncited material?
Edited by Synchronicity on Jul 19th 2022 at 1:44:59 PM
I cut everything that wasn't citing trailers.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Apparently copies of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 have begun to leak. (The game itself won't be officially out until the 29th, next Friday.)

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite.Between Author's Saving Throw and Win Back the Crowd, I'm thinking one of them should be allowed to include prerelease examples, because a lot of times game developers will specifically advertise their game before its official release on the basis of it rectifying mistakes/issues from previous games that put off players in the past, and that's definitely a valid audience reaction that can be troped.
People keep pingponging on whether AST should be removed from Xenoblade Chronicles 3 even though it is abundantly clear that a lot of the mechanics introduced in trailers are a response to major negative Audience Reactions to past games, and you don't need the game to come out to figure that out, just going by fandom responses to the news. Certain mechanics like mid-battle character switching have been begged for a while now, the news of which was originally questioned as too good to be true until gameplay footage confirmed it was as they said and lead to a fandom sigh of relief, and while game companies will almost never outright say "Sorry, we hear you" outside of massive PR bungles, as admitting weakness tends to lose face, conceding that the character designs in 2 looked bad is one of those rare times Word of God from a non-indie company has openly taken such an L.

Win Back the Crowd needs sales/reception metrics to show that interest actually translated to sales/viewership, so...not that one.
Given that the game apparently comes out in a week, I'm more inclined to say "hang in there" than reevaluate Author's Saving Throw. (What if the 'saving throw' turns out to suck in execution?)
Edited by Synchronicity on Jul 21st 2022 at 4:01:28 AM
Technically, the saving throw failing doesn't make it not a saving throw, at least as I understand the trope.

Yeah, that's the procedure. We could also move the series to Series.Luck 2012 as well but I'm not sure that's strictly necessary
