Absentee Actor is supposed to be when a character is absent when they would be logically be expected to appear, but most examples are just "member of the main cast doesn't appear".

Examples:

The examples for Adventure Time, American Dad!, Animaniacs, Arthur,' 'Bob the Builder'' and so on are all "member of the main cast doesn't appear".

Also, this:

This doesn't explain how they were "conspicuously" absent.

Going from a wick check, misuse is less common in live action TV pages.

It seems like the confusion is because the trope was presumably meant to be about actors being absent, hence the title. Here it's being used for media that doesn't have any actors. Maybe there should be a title change?

If you did a wick check, please present the results from each individual wick you checked, so we know for sure there's a problem.

Here, I set a clock. If you fail to provide the wick check results, the thread will be closed.

Characters.Harpers Island:

The entry for Shane Pierce: The Townie has this:

  • Absentee Actor: Is absent for a few episodes after getting arrested, though he's back by Episode 8.

There's an explanation, so it doesn't count.

Characters.Hunger Games Simulation Players A To M

Mr Death Platypus

  • Absentee Actor: He tends to not participate in the thread, often for long periods of time. This is mainly due to him procrastinating and being busy with school.

Again, it doesn't fit with the trope's intention.

Characters.Jane And The Dragon

  • Absentee Actor: Gunther is completely absent from several episodes. This could be justified in that he often does chores for his father and could be helping him with merchant affairs away from the castle.

Seems to be trying to provide some sort of explanation, which as far as I know is not In-Universe.

Characters.Justice League Of America 2013

Green Lantern (Simon Baz)

Recap.Buffy The Vampire Slayer S 1 E 6 The Pack

  • Absentee Actor: This is the first time one of the main cast is absent, in the is case Cordelia.

Recap.Duck Tales 2017 S 1 E 4 The Beagle Birthday Massacre

  • Absentee Actor: Scrooge, Donald, Beakley and Launchpad are all absent from this episode.

I believe this trope is being misused as Trivia. Should we either make Absentee Actor that, or just make it In-Universe Examples Only?

Okay, that's fine and all, but that's an insufficient number, judging by the total number of wicks Absentee Actor has. Per How to Do a Wick Check, you need to check 50 or the square root of the total wick count, whatever's higher.

Try again. If you're not up to it, leave it to someone else who can handle it.

Clock is up. As the OP failed to give a substantial wick check, closing.
