Eh, we all know how much the comic's account of things has ever been binding to the show — if FiM barely ever paid attention to its own comic series, what are the odds of G5 doing things differently?

It was because they're associated with water, and they were talking about Avatar elements.

The unicorns' slob status looked like it was largely due to them being depressed over having lost their magic. It'll be interesting to see how their society reacts to its return. It'd be neat to see them develop a standard of living on par with Zephyr Heights, but primarily by way of rediscovering their ancestors' magical knowledge instead of just importing technology from the other tribes.

And heck, "Friendship is Magic" had a few solid examples of Magitek - imagine what somepony could create by taking pegasus technology and enchanting it.

I'm using slobs loosely here, of course.

My point still stands — it appeared that their development was severely lagging because they couldn't get over losing their magic, and now it's back. What next?

A lot of explosions and antics worthy of Daffy Duck before they manage to get some amount of advancement.

That would certainly be fun to watch.

Has anyone made a video yet that combines the unicorns' bing-bonging with Bing Bong in some form?

So is the movie also going to be on DVD & Blu-ray, or just Netflix?

So, just asking, but once the series proper is announced, will this thread require a name change, or...?

I imagine we can change it to "My Little Pony Gen 5" or something.

Or rename the original FIM thread.

I think it'd make the most sense to have one thread for G4 discussions and another for G5 discussions. It just seems tidier.

I think just rename this thread into the name of the new show.

Here's something I admittedly didn't pick up on until I watched the movie for the second time. ^_^;;

Hitch pulled a Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!, while Sprout let his new power go to his head and became the main villain of the movie.

I've heard of "Good Cop/Bad Cop," but dang.

So if magic had been gone for a good chunk of time, does that mean Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow were freed from their prison? Assuming Gushy banished him via magic, does that mean that the real Grogar has been freed and is currently roaming about?

I'm of the theory that.

• Their petrification was by magic, yes...
• but it was done in a way that flash fossilized them (so no nitric acid tricks for them). They can be freed by magic in theory, but if there is no magic, then they are stuck and as good as dead. And the return of magic might render modern magic incompatible with the kind that would be needed to free them.

Which is to say that they died the moment the old magic did.

I guess? But I sincerely doubt they'd get killed off like that. I'd imagine they'll be used later down the line.

With Grogar, it's a bit tricky since we don't know the nature of how he got banished and to where.

I showed this movie to my mom recently. She was wondering where Sunny's mom is.

Probably gone.

I mean, her dad pretty explicitly died, so I don't know why they wouldn't mention her mom.

Well, at the very least her dad influenced her idea of pony unity, and was the one seen in the opening scene. Then again, it took several seasons to see the parents of some of the previous cast's parents.
