Designated Love Interest has ~200 wicks. Is any dewicking, done?

What's the "Platonic seen as Romantic" trope?

Platonic Seen As Romantic is Relationship Writing Fumble.

If I'm not mistaken that's the way it currently is, but the crowner voted to move that definition to a new name while Relationship Writing Fumble becomes the new super trope.

So I guess we should start proposing names? Unintentionally Romantic? Designated Platonic Relationship? Don't think those are the best names but just to get the ball rolling.

Designated Platonic Friend, is as best a snowclone I can get?

"Designated Platonic Life-Partners" implies a requirement for a longer relationship than is actual?

"Platonic Friend" sounds redundant. Also, Everything's Worse with Snowclones.

What about Friendship Writing Fumble? Or is that too similar to the original name?

Wait, which trope we re-naming at the moment? RWF or DLI? If RWF, I guess Friendship Writing Fumble ain't too bad at all.

If I'm remembering correctly, the idea is that Relationship Writing Fumble is to be the new name of the over-arching supertrope for all issues when writing character relationships, and the current definition will be transplanted to a subtrope, which obviously needs a new name.

The current definition is "Characters who are supposed to be love interests seem like they're Just Friends", right? So, would these examples from the current page fit the sandbox?

• Oddly, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 kind of does this to Flint and Sam. An Immediate Sequel, the movie opens at the end of The Big Damn Kiss from the first film, and they're shown as a couple again in the Creative Closing Credits, but that's about it. Flint even refers to her as a "friend" rather than "girlfriend" one or two times, probably to emphasize The Power of Friendship as the main Aesop.
• The main male and female character in Stealth are supposed to be military personnel, and seem to be interacting as such throughout the entire movie. There is banter between them, but nothing that particularly points towards sexual chemistry. In spite of the film tradition of Dedicated Love Interests, it can come as a shock when they suddenly kiss after the action is over, even without considering the army 'fraternization' laws which are never mentioned by any character.

Is there anything left to do for this thread? Relationship Writing Fumble has its own thread (the current crowner is for the name to use for its supertrope-related Trope Transplant).

Edit: Based on the number of Designated Love Interest wicks on non-YMMV pages (courtesy link), I'm assuming the current project for this thread is to either move those wicks to YMMV pages if they match the definition, or remove them if they don't. That is, unless we're waiting for the supertrope to be launched, so examples that fit it better (i.e., they don't fit either Designated Love Interest or Friendship Writing Fumble) could be listed under it instead.

Sorry for the double post, but should this thread be starred, since wicks still need to be moved to YMMV pages (at least after the Relationship Writing Fumble thread launches the supertrope)?

Also, might wanna replace the current quote, as it fits more under Strangled by the Red String:

It's been a while; I had to refresh myself on what we're doing here. But weren't we going to rename this, and also change the description? I think we should hold off on the wicks for a second.

Well the crowner is messed up and don't how to fix it but looks like the option that the winner just said to make the trope YMMV according to the previous comments. I guess rename and rewrite the description were runner ups?

But yeah, not going to do the wicks because it looks like there are other stuff to be done.

The options weren't mutually exclusive; we're doing all three things.
