General SD Gundam Thread

I didn't mind the SD Gundams transforming into full-scale forms thing mostly because it was in SD Gundam before with the Tekki Mushas and Superior Kaiser.

As for the Gaw, there hasn't been any characters, surprisingly. There hasn't even been any monsters or weapons based on it from what I can recall...

So I found this. It seems to be some sort of information page for SD Gunvoy?

Yeah, it is. They did one of those for every series (Normal, Musha, Knight, Command Chronicles, Gunvoyager, Gunlander, Shadow Ninden, Force, and Sangokuden), I think mostly because of SD Gundam The Last World.

Unrelated note, the third box set for New World Advent Legend will be out next week. I'll be doing some notes on it when I can find some cards.

A bit of a odd subject for me to bring up here, but on the forum for Fate/Grand Order, there was a "Personal Holy Grail War" survey made on ShidenMaker for the people there to play with. I myself had some fun with it, and even did a Super Robot Wars version. In particular, when I submitted Knight Gundam, it told me that his servant would be Jack the Ripper, and that she would betray and kill him.

On a more serious note, I think I remember an SD Gundam that seemed to be based off of Jeremiah Gottwald/Orange-Kun. What's his deal? Also barring him, some of the major characters from SD Gundam Gaiden: Kikoushin Densetsu being based off of mechs from God Mars, and the Gamma Dragon from Gundlander being based off of Gunhed, what other elements from other Sunrise works have been implemented into the SD Gundam franchise?

Well, it's not just the mechs in Kikoshin Densetsu that are based on Godmars, some of the characters are based on it as well. Neo Gundam is Takeru/Mars, Luna Gundam is Marg (and Rose Knight), Sieg Zeon in this version is Emperor Zul, and I think King Aigulle is someone but I don't remember. (I'm actually still watching Godmars) There's also the fact that it has elements of Sailor Moon with Neo and Luna actually being princes from the moon.(Which is part of the reason why Knight Barbatos has a grudge against them)

As I had never seen Code Geass, I had to look up the character and I have to say I don't recognize and SD Gundam based on him. The closest I thought of was Cyclone Knight Prost from Knight Gundam Monogatari, but that series was from 1994, which was before Code Geass. Speaking of Knight Gundam Monogatari, that uses designs from Panzer World Galient for some of the mechs. But it also takes inspiration outside of Sunrise by having a plot that merges Star Wars and Fist of the North Star of all things. There's also Epco 94 (Bega from Genma Wars) and Gaoja's Leo Fighter Mode (Go Lion) as well. I think some of the enemies in Gold Saga had some inspiration from Marvel characters, as a side note. Layzner was part of the base for Knight X's Saddrac World form. Sumomotaros◊ from Saddrac Knight Saga is a mix of Harry Ord's Sumo and Momotaros (From Kamen Rider Den-O). Oh, and Phantom The O Dante◊ is also Biollante. I've heard about Storm Sword Mode-Impulse◊ being based on Tekkaman Blade, which is a joke within the fandom. (As well as Woundwort's Blan Valkyrie Shift◊ being Cure White).

I only recently became a fan these past couple of months. I still need to get around to watching Fate/Extra Last Encore, I'm looking forward to Fate/Extella Link, and I really want to check out Fate/strange Fake.

Fate-wise I became a fan last June after watching Fate/Zero (Just in time for Grand Order to be released in English lol). I've been a fan since. I have to watch Last Encore, but I've seen Apocrypha (Mordred's master, Kairi Shishigou, is voiced by Kenji Nomura, aka Sou Sou Gundam from SD Gundam Sangokuden) and played Extella. (I also play Grand Order as well.)

I meant that I never watched Code Geass and had to look up a picture of Jeremiah to see if a character was based on him design-wise. (Unless it's backstory-wise, then I don't know.) As this was the first time I heard something about a SD Gundam character being based on something from Code Geass, I also didn't have a work to serve as a starting point. Usually knowing if the character is from a Knight Gundam or Musha Gundam series can help narrow the search. As I mentioned, the closest SD that I thought of when I saw his design was Cyclone Knight Prost. So unless the SD character is from Musha Generation or Eiyuuden (which I hope not, because it makes me physically ill to talk about those two series), I don't think Jeremiah has a base in SD Gundam.

I can see why you thought he looked similar to Jeremiah, but I was talking about this guy right here◊. Actually, comparing that image to the other two you shared, he might be Cyclone Knight Prost.

Yep, that's Prost. More specifically, that's his card from the last Saddrac Knight Saga EX box set (Final Clash of the Thunder Sword). What they did for EX and New World Advent Legend was in addition to releasing cards with the story for that arc is release cards with artwork from the mobile games Carddas Quest and Puzzle Heroes. This art of Prost is specifically from Puzzle Heroes, if I'm correct.

Huh. Actually I'm curious now, what is Prost like as a character? Like, what is his personality and is he a hero or a villain?

Also, have there been any Gundam: Reconguista in G representatives in the Knight Gundam series? I want to know if there's a Knight G-Self.

When he first appeared, Prost was a participant in the Holy Knight Tournament as a soldier for hire. He became an ally in the second arc when Zero was chasing after Gemon to get to Vice's base. So he and Neo Stride were rivals that became allies.

Personality-wise, he has a bit of an ego (as seen by his use of the pronoun "ore-sama", lit. "My esteemed self") and the skill when it comes to piloting Machine Soldiers to back it up. His card from the third arc notes him as a "Calm and Composed Genius Pilot" and goes onto comment "Normally like rootless grass, he fights in place of others. (In reference to him being a soldier for hire) However, even Prost could not stay silent during Saddrac's crisis". Unlike Mars at the beginning of Seikihei Monogatari, it seems he's not doing it for money and is therefore not truly a mercenary. (Queen Nina when Mars comments about GP-01 piloting Gunrex: "A gold-digging mercenary has no right to say anything about a country's business!!") Overall, Prost is a confident genius pilot whose heart is in the right place.

No, Reconguista in G has not had any representation yet in Knight Gundam. Or Age. Or G-Savior. Especially G-Savior.

To add onto your previous statement, voice actor and narrator (and confirmed SD Gundam fan) Kiyohiro Yamaguchi did a voiceover of Space Boy's animation! (With the artist's permission, of course.)

Seriously speaking, though, Space Boy is probably my favorite SD Gundam fan artist.

Have you seen the first episode of Gundam Build Divers yet? Because it featured an SD Gundam Cameo that's uh...special.

Oh right. I was watching the first episode with my brother and when we saw that, I outright commented "well, that was unexpected". I remember that Chou-sen from Sangokuden also made a cameo as well, but she was one more on the "known" side of SD Gundam. Not many people have seen the older SD Gundam OVA series. If they've seen anything SD Gundam, it's usually only Force and they hate it because of that. The ones that have seen Brave Battle Warriors tend to be fine with it, but good luck finding those people...

Unrelated note, I completed Part One of my notes on New World Advent Legend arc 3. I'll need to improve them when I get better quality pictures of the booklet though.

BTW, did you happen to see this SD Gundam in the opening for Build Divers? A SD ninja Unicorn Gundam, I think. This has actually gotten me more interested in this series...

Also, I found this picture for the band I remember seeing on Final Formula VS Noum Gyaza. I remember reading somewhere that they were double agents of some sort, but I don't remember the full details.

Oh, right I remember that band. I know that their name can either translate to "The Crashers" or "The Crushers". They first appeared in Command Chronicles Gundam Force, where the lead guitarist, Heavy Metal, moonlighted as Gunshadow to help search for the missing G-Arms members. (I know that the other band members don't know about this in the Masahiro Kanda manga, but I'm not sure in the other works)

The Unicorn Phenex has yet to have a design. There is a design for Sinanju Stein◊ though. The story with him is that he was originally a member of King Gundam III's Knights of the Round Table, but was murdered at some point by Sinanju Rebound (the resurrected form of Knight Bawoo from Sieg Zeon Hen) who then took his place under the identity of Crimson Knight Sinanju◊. Stein fell to the Netherworld and became a member of Fairy Queen Diana's elite guards. Stein did get his revenge on Sinanju Rebound in the fourth arc though.

I've been wondering about this for a while now, but has SD Gundam The Last World ended? Or is it just on hiatus?

It's likely on hiatus right now, since they usually upload a new page monthly. There's too many unfinished plot threads laying around, such as who exactly Gundam The Gold is. This happened between Stage 2 and Stage EX, where they had a month hiatus in between Arcs. Compare the date on the Stage 2, Chapter 6 post and EX Part 1 post. I write these posts about them about an hour after release, with the exception of Stage 2 Part 5. (Delayed due to daylight savings time).

However, they haven't even updated the page for New World Advent Legend's last arc, which I predicted was coming around this week. If anything, I think Golden Week is also a factor, since that's more or less Japan's spring break.

Ah, I see. I've been thinking that maybe The Last World could get an Anime Adaptation. Do you think it could work?

Also, here's some info for the ninja SD Gundam for Build Divers, and apparently it's name is the RX-Zeromaru.

I'd love it if they do an adaption of The Last World, and they likely could if it gets enough demand. I think they'd have to wait though, seeing how Mutaguchi is working on Build Divers. (He worked on Brave Battle Warriors and both Build Fighters) A problem I could also see is getting some of the voice actors to return for their according rolls if they already had them. I'm more referring to Yuki Kaiji for this, since he may have gotten busier ever since he was cast as Eren in Attack on Titan. That's also part of the reason why I think we didn't get an adaption of the Battle of the War Gods arc of Sangokuden...

I've known about Zeromaru for a few days now, mostly because Alvin (from the first link you posted) is one of the people I usually discuss SD Gundam with on G+. The base, if you couldn't tell by the name, is the Unicorn Gundam.
