Signing up.

Also, as a note, right above my posting box says 'Enduring_Knight puts down sword, picks up pen...' I don't know why, but that was highly amusing.

Story: Dark Souls 2 (Specifically, right after opening the last door with the King's Ring to the final boss)

Name: Faraam Knight <— As the DS 2 title character, this will be all he remembers of his name.

Age, gender, and species: Age: He forgot, because the curse consumed the knowledge. Gender: Male Species: Human/Undead*

  • In the Dark Souls series, humans, when the First Flame wanes, start to become 'Undead,' because their soul (a fragment of the legendary Dark Soul) begins to eat away at their identity. Eventually, every Undead will go 'Hollow.' A Hollow is the term for a mindless undead that will attack whatever comes near it. Dying speeds up this process, of course, but, like the name implies, they respawn from a 'bonfire,' which you can think of as a checkpoint.

Appearance: http://michaelrobson.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Souls-2-493875288 For the record, though, the weapons in the pic are not the weapons I will give him.

Personality: Who is this character and how do they behave? <— That's what he's wondering about himself, right about now. He'll defend himself when attacked, and has a knack for knowing what will and won't attack him, knows and possibly has feelings for the Emerald Herald, and knows he has to defeat Queen Nashandra of Drangleic, but that's about it.

Back story: Was once, long, long, long ago, one of the Lion Knights of Forossa, feared for their nimble, two-handed swordplay. Since then, Forossa was destroyed, the Lion Knights disbanded or slaughtered, and his abilities regressed as the Curse ate away at his mind. He arrived in Drangleic searching for a way to stop the Curse of Undeath from consuming him.

Since his arrival, he has defeated the Four Great Ones, and taken their souls, increasing his own soul's power, and has defeated the Four Great Kings. He has talked with the Scholar of the First Sin, but has not defeated Nashandra.

Skills/powers/abilities:

  • Knows basic swordfighting with his chosen weapons, though it was once MUCH more deadly.
  • Cannot die. Well, he technically can, but after a while, he'll just get up again, good as new.
  • Cannot really sleep.
  • Can tank a LOT of damage, thanks to his armor and musculature. His iron will despite losing his identity is more impressive, however.
  • Though there are three kinds of magic in-game, we never see the Faraam Knight use any, so I will forego that as well.
  • Fully ambidextrous, per the abilities of the player character of Dark Souls 2.
  • When wearing one of the Four Crowns, cannot go Hollow.

Items:

  • Faraam Armor set (see picture).
  • Longsword (That is, in the official art, he carries a certain sword that was never put in the game, of which the in-game Longsword is the most analogous. Additionally, what he carries is closer to an IRL bastard sword than an IRL longsword, i.e. it can be used just as easily with one hand or two)
  • Golden Bell Shield (Medium sized heater shield with the additional ability to parry/deflect offensive spells. In-game, this must be done with a parry motion at just the right moment, you can't just sit behind the shield and watch the spell go *boink* off the shield, that will cause you to take damage. The same will apply here.)
  • Estus Flask (Healing potion with a set amount of uses, which can only be refilled at a bonfire. As such, it's got a max of twelve uses (in-game max) to be spread out over whatever length of time he stays here for)
  • King's Ring (See Story Parentheses)
  • Ivory Warrior Ring (does nothing here)
  • Yorgh's Ring (Broken, so it does nothing)
  • Silvercat Ring (Reduces damage from falling, provided the fall will not kill him without it. If it can, it does nothing.)
  • Radiant Soulgem (One-time use healing item)
  • 10 Human Effigies (Essentially, restores him to human form, fully recovers from dying a lot, ability-wise. Mentally, that depends)
  • Vendrick's Crown (To get to the end of the game, you must traverse four kingdoms to find the crowns of their kings, then receive a blessing from the last one. At that point, while the character wears one of those crowns, they will not Hollow. These items are bulky, however, so he's only got Vendrick's on hand, and he prefers his helm, anyway)

Other: N/A

Whew, that was a lot of parenthetical explaining. I hope it makes sense.

@astrokitty: Alright, so I don't really know any of the Professor Layton games other than just knowing that they're puzzle games, and unfortunately it seems to be the same case among my friends. I did check out their entries on the character tropes page, and it does seem mostly accurate, save for a few things.

You didn't mention that Layton is an Actual Pacifist, which seems like a pretty crucial character element. I'd personally think it also worth mentioning that he (mostly) has a Stiff Upper Lip. Luke being a Big Eater seems like it could deserve mention to a lesser extent.

@Enduring_Knight: I'm currently waiting for my friend who I know has played through the Dark Souls series to be available so I can chat with him about your character entry; so until then I can't give a final judgement, and that might not be until tomorrow night.

For now though my current stance is that I'll probably not allow the character. From what I do know of Dark Souls personally, he's just too much of a blank slate, even compared to the likes of Bethesda and Bioware protagonists.

Alrighty, but when you mention my character entry, do make sure that you're mentioning the knight from the trailer, not 'just any PC from Dark Souls II,' alright?

If he doesn't make it, I can try doing Luke fon Fabre from Tales of the Abyss, I guess.

Sorry, said friend came online and I got distracted talking with him for a while.

@astrokitty: Alright, that all seems okay then.

Professor Hershel Layton and Luke Triton are accepted.

As with everyone switching I'll wait until you've actually posted for them to edit the character list.

@Enduring_Knight: Well after talking with my friend about it, I've decided that indeed I do not think I can accept this character. It is possible to extrapolate a canon for how he would work mechanically, as in what items he'd have on him and what he'd be capable of, which you've already done. BUT it is simply not possible to extrapolate any sort of canon personality, so no matter what you came up with he would just be an O.C. Stand-in or self insert character; both of which would go against the spirit of what this RP is supposed to be as a crossover game. I'm sorry, but he is denied.

No apology necessary, I kinda knew it'd be a long shot if he got in. Main reason I tried is because it's excusable to make him a lefty, hence the 'he's fully ambidextrous, as the PC in Dark 2 is.' I wanted to make him a lefty because, as might be expected, I myself am a lefty, and there are far too few of those in fiction for my taste. And then Dark Souls 3 came out, and I can't make my own, custom knight character left-handed. Make my own character my ass, Miyazaki.

Welp, lemme throw something together for Luke, then. He's a lefty.

I guess i am interested. Kind of.... But i'll use Goku.( I will disable Super Saiyan Blue, Super Saiyan God, Super Saiyan 3 & 2, and heavily nerf Super Saiyan. Along with his attacks and disable some too.)

Story: Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super

Name: Son Goku

Age: 47

Gender: Male

Race: Saiyan

Appearance: Goku has Black spiky hair that dose not change ever, he has black eyes, wears a trademark blue and dark orange Gi w/ an dark blue undershirt, he wears blue wristbands, along with dark blue boots with a red border that are outfitted with yellow/beige laces. He wears a blue sash instead when he originally worn a blue obi over his waist. He's 5' 9'' tall in height.

Personality: Goku is a cheerful, energetic, determined individual. Known for love of fighting and competitions, but also eating (He'll eat anything, and despite for his love of food, can be comical at times.), Goku trains every single day in order to improve his own strength. Though, he has remarkable intuition to see the good in others, though his capacity for forgiving others is occasionally excessive; mostly Goku fights to win, he often spares his enemies, even in turn attack him.

His staggering power in his own universe is simultaneously reined in and enhanced by his fierce loyalty and morality. But in the city, his nerfed strength after being transported into the city, he still kept his loyality and morality but not as fierce. Goku can be very blunt and not afraid to express his opinion in a discussion. While generally kind and not intentionally rude, Son Goku tends not to show proper respect to people of high authority (Imagine Goku saying hello to Equius. If he was ever in the city.) Despite his kind-hearted nature, Goku can feel incredible anger in extreme situations such as the death of a relative/friend or innocents murdered, showing that he can be very vengeful.

He has a simple, practical view of the world (and the city too!) the often comes off as naive, which often makes many incorrectly assume him to be somewhat stupid (I can't stop imaging Karkat calling Goku stupid.) While often taking things to face-value, he comprehends the situation quickly and learns the basics of anything presented to him rather quickly. His most remarkable ability is his will and tenacity to succeed, always determined to push himself beyond his limits and never give up even in such overwhelming adversity. (< But in the city, it's literally impossible for Goku to push beyond his limits.)

Goku is a pure-hearted, but true family man at best, and dose whatever he can to help them out whenever possible. This selfless attitude also extends to his friends and enemies alike, in order to help them out and to give the villains a chance at redemption. Goku's fear is needles.

Skills/Powers/Abilities:

Kamehameha - Goku's most used ki attack, it fires a blue ki beam that deals massive amounts of damage. But in the city, nerfed to deal a decent amount of damage, takes a bit longer to draw Goku's latent ki, and not nearly as powerful to expel an explosive beam of ki energy. (85% damage decreased in the city, now only takes 50 hits to kill a powerful enemy.)

Kaio-Ken - A technique that multiplies the user's Ki for a 'heart beat', enabling them to inflict serious damage to opponents who are stronger than them. However, it strains the user's body after using it, although Goku used it uncommonly. (Disabled in the city due to being too powerful.)

Spirit Bomb - An ability that allows the user to gather huge amounts of energy from all chosen surrounding life forms and inanimate objects to conduct that energy into a massive spere of astounding destructive power. It can be quite swift when used, but if the user isn't careful enough, it may destroy a planet. (Disabled, since it's a planet buster attack.)

Instant Transmission - It allows the user to teleport any location as long as the user can find an energy source to home onto. (Dose not work when Goku tries to teleport out of the city.)

Items/Equipment:

Power Pole - Goku's only weapon, it allows the pole to extend or retract.

A bag of Sensu Beans - Goku carries around with it just in case if he gets injured by a lot. The sensu bean's power can heal the injuries. (Nerfed to regenerate wounds 15% less faster for a long time.)

Backstory:

Goku was born in Age 737 when as a baby was sent from Planet Vegeta to Earth. After the crash-landing on Earth, the baby was found in the woods by Grandpa Gohan and became his adopted grandson. He was given the earthling name 'Son Goku'. At first, Goku was extremely violent, aggressive and ill-tempered, not even obeying Gohan at all, but one fateful day, he fell down a ravine and hit his head, suffering severe head trauma that sent him into a coma at near-death. After he woke up, he lost all of his aggressive, violent behavior due to not remembering his mission, became kind and mild-mannered boy that will become the savior of earth over the years.

Through out the years, Goku had met Bulma for the first time and went on an adventure befriending others and fighting foes like Monster Rabbit, The Pilaf Gang and so on. He even has his first mentor, Master Roshi and met his first rival, now-friend Krillin. However, their training is extensive and hard at first glance, but Goku always handle even the most difficult of all training.

After years of beating foes, befriending others, sparing enemies, and even married Chi Chi, Goku have beaten every strong enemy in the past to all the way to the present. However, Goku will face an even stronger threat that threatens the face of the Earth, such as King Picoolo and beyond. But however, Goku beat the namek, brought peace to the Earth for five years. However, Gohan is born after Chi Chi and Goku gets married.

5 Years later, a new threat lands on Earth, a maleviolent saiyan comes out to disturb peace once again. Just before Goku ever meets him, Gohan was rescued by Goku and took him to Kame House where his son was introduced to everyone in the house. But that reunion seemed too short for Goku as he sensed an evil power. A saiyan arrived and claims Goku as his brother and attempted to kill all of it's inhabitants by kidnapping Gohan in order to force Goku to kill, But all fails as that saiyan was easily defeated by Goku and Piccolo which Goku sacrificed himself to kill his brother.

Through out the many years, Goku had beaten the saiyans, a tyrant, an Bio-Andriod, and even an evil majin threatening the destruction of the universe. But, he met new people that are gods, but a return of an old enemy that Future Trunks had defeated was brought back to life but defeated again by Goku. In the present day after Black Goku has been defeated, Goku was living in peace with his friends...

Until he disappears into a bright flash of light, sending him into another universe with his powers and strength cut to lower levels, weaker than Krillin before the saiyans came here. Now, his adventure begins...

Other: Goku's power level is now at 15, but i think Goku's forms are disabled but Super Saiyan is severely nerfed to reach a power level of 150. I nerfed everything in Goku so yeah. I think his transformations are left out because, well they are massively OP. But also, i left out Dragon Fist is because i think it's way too powerful. Only his Ki flight only lasts 15 minutes and ki blasts are ineffective against strong enemies.

(Sorry it took me so long, i nerfed everything in Goku so he is way less OP at the City. So if you do accept me, i am blessed and we could be best buds forever. If you deny me, oh well it's worth a shot. Plus, i don't think that his backstory wasn't accurate, so oh well. Can't get any worse since i am being tired of being rejected and rejected by roleplayer G Ms and so on and so forth.

No offense, but i don't think the people at the roleplaying section like me. At any social media websites, people do like me or just don't mind me at all. Anyways i apologize for being off-topic and go right ahead, give me opinions, and go easy on me with the denying and the accepting choices.

I think this is the only good roleplay thread that i am interested in. If i get denied, what the heck am i going to do without being kicked out the whole time? Sigh, all i wanted is to get accepted with my good effort into making this filled out sign-up form.

So, if you reject me, i am going to be on hiatus for weeks since i lost all of the effort into making this, lost all hope, luck, etc. If you accept me, then i'll be very happy, maybe i won't go into hiatus at all. I'll just roleplay Goku with care-free abandon (If i mean that, it means by following the story.) after you accept me. ^^

Again, sorry it took so long to make this. I put all of my effort, time, and my imagination to put my canon character to use. J-Just...Don't go harsh on me, please and thank you...It took so much effort and i will be sad if you just rejected it. (All the effort, went to waste after being rejected...)

I followed your roleplay rules and i nerfed everything to Super Weight 2, my character is canon, etc. There is no way you can reject this, right buddy? Just, don't go harsh on me, thank you.)

Woah man, just calm down a bit. I don't know who you are and I didn't know that you were making a signup sheet; there's no need to apologize to me over things I didn't know about and that have no effect on me. Also, don't try to flatter me or phish for pity to make me accept your signup; that just makes you look insincere and sketchy. There was also no real need to send me PM first; I only just got home from work.

I need to get in touch with one of my friends who knows DBZ better than I do, because the most direct knowledge I have comes from the abridged series. I'm also going to be kind of busy in general tonight, so a full response might have to wait until tomorrow night or later.

@selfKaiHarness: Okay, still haven't gotten in touch with any of my friends who know DBZ yet, but I was finally not so busy today so I took the time to fully read through your signup sheet. While I still can't comment on the accuracy of the back story, there are some things I can bring up even without my friends' assistance that need to be addressed before I could accept you regardless.

First and most importantly, like I said you need to cool it with the drama. Relax, slow down, and maybe observe how other people in the RP subforum conduct themselves; get an idea of what's expected around here. Mentioning how upset you are about others being mean to you just seems like you're trying to guilt trip me into accepting your signup by feeling sorry for you. Mentioning how apparently I'm the only nice person is then like trying to bribe me with flattery. Put together it just makes you look really desperate, and a bit sketchy; almost like you know there's reasons I shouldn't accept your signup, but am hoping that I'll be distracted by the guilt and flattery and let them go.

For the record, I did not feel sorry or flattered; I felt annoyed that you did either of those things.

Second, the writing in your signup is really bad. I don't require perfect writing from my players because I don't want to be exclusionary, but I do at least require that the writing be legible enough to understand what the person meant. Several parts of your signup had typos and grammar so bad that I had to reread them several times to try to be sure of what you actually meant as opposed to what you actually wrote; in at least one case I still don't really know what you meant despite reading it again a few times. Your little response post seems perfectly legible so I'm not even sure why your signup is so illegible.

Third, even without knowing Goku's full story, I do know plenty about what Goku is capable of from both the abridged series and from Death Battle. You used the Skills/Powers/Abilities section to only mention his more powerful moves, and completely glossed over some of the other things he can do, such as: Martial arts, detect power, and freaking fly. You also didn't mention his nimbus cloud, although it is admittedly a bit redundant.

Fourth and last, you don't seem to get the idea of the sort of abstract free form that this RP is going for. Mentioning specific percentages and number of hits it takes to kill an enemy with a move is completely arbitrary and goes against the RP's style. Also, why do you even bring up power level? Power level is almost completely meaningless even in DBZ's own canon, and there's practically no reason to bring it up here.

Due to writer's block, I'm changing characters (again).

Story: Black Cat

Name: Eve

Age, gender, species: 12 biologically, female, augmented human.

Appearance: She's actually a clone. The person who was cloned is basically her with glasses

Personality: A Deadpan Snarker through and through, Eve seems very cold and detached due to her upbringing. However, she shows a childlike curiousity when faced with things she has not seen before (of which there are many). She also demonstrates a love of books. She is protective of those she is close to (Train and Sven), and good at thinking under pressure. Despite this, she has been known to freeze under certain situations, mainly when feeling fear. Though, over the course of Black Cat, this seemed to pass, it still exists, and Eve often needs someone she trusts there to break her out of it. She also displays a secret want for a younger brother.

Backstory:

  • Eve was created as a clone of Dr Tearju, a renowned nanoscientist. Created to be a weapon, Eve had a harsh upbringing, being told to think of herself not as a person, but as a tool of whoever bought her. This changed when she escaped from the compound she was in, and walked into the city nearby. Taken as a lost child by Sven (one of a pair of Sweepers, which are basically bounty hunters), he decided to wait with her until her guardian arrived. This was her first encounter with ice cream (it remains her favourite food). When her guardian did arrive, he told her to stab Sven. She did, and left him bleeding out on the side walk. However, she didn't forget him.
  • Turns out Sven was in the city to prepare for a robbery that he and Train were hired to do by a sneak thief. This robbery involving destroying the technology to create living weapons. When the robbery brought Sven to Eve's doorstep again, she was, once more, told to kill him. Sven stopped this by convincing her that she was human, and a person, and can make her own choices. Somewhere during the ensuing confrontation, she got shot, Sven panicked, and she revealed that she had turned that part of her stomach to steel before the bullet hit. She then became a Sweeper alongside Sven and Train.
  • Important events in Black Cat:
    • Gets beaten up and has her blood used to write a challenge message to Train (the guy gets his fight).
    • Meets her DNA double, and has a kind of mother-daughter relationship with her for all of the 2 or 3 chapters we see her
    • Defeats Leon, a wind Tao (a mix of magic and chi) user and gains his trust
    • Develops various forms for combat (see below)
    • Almost gets dissected by an Ax-Crazy Mad Scientist, before Train steps in and stops him (beware lingering trauma around people with lab coats, labratories and stretchers, surgery tables, etc, etc)
    • Makes friends with a cloned dinosaur
    • Was taken as a pervert because she accidentally stripped two people when using her nanocutters for the first time.

  • At the point at which she would arrive in the City, the series has finished and she is back to being a normal Sweeper.

Skills/Powers/Abilities :

  • Like her clonee/cloner/clonic (I have no idea what a word for that is), Eve has a photographic memory, and is very intelligent. She remembers every book she has ever read, and she reads them like a normal person eats. She is also quite tricky in battle, though her basic strategy is hit it until it stays down.

  • Eve has an extra organ in her body, one that continually produces nanobots, which in turn, exist in every single cell in her body. She controls these using her mind. If sent into a human body, they will attack other nanobots under her direction, but not any of the natural functions. She can also control this ability inside her own body, meaning she can clear any foreign nanobots, especially those carrying viruses. She can use these to interface with machines directly, ignoring any other interfaces.

  • Using these nanobots, Eve can turn into almost anything, with no set limits, including the Laws of Conservation of Matter and Energy. She just needs to be familiar with it first, and it cannot be too large or small. Her most common medium for this is her hair. She cannot make projectile weapons as the nanostructure will just fall apart.

    • Mermaid: She can breathe underwater and swim really well. And bitch-slap people with her tail surprisingly hard.

    • Wings: She can fly, but only for about ten minutes at a time, and she can't carry any passengers.

    • Nanocutter (I couldn't find an image): Two really thin (only a couple of nanites thick), sharp blades made out of her hair (I think the material is steel, but it's never stated), which she uses to find weak spots in armour and exploit it. First use led to the above incident, with the naked themselves not harmed. She then mastered their use, gaining enough control to do that deliberately. They are now her main weapon.

    • Fists of steel!: Not their actual name. Large fists Eve forms out of her hair to add force to her punches. Very heavy, so she can't sustain their use for longer than two quick punches. She can also create steel gauntlets around her fists, and sustain them for longer. She, later in the series, uses a move named Gold Rush, where she makes several fists out of her hair (tightly compressed) and punches someone in a fast barage (none of these fists are particularly powerful on their own).

    • Armblade: She turns her arm into a sword. Fallen out of favour since she used it to stab Sven.

    • Shield: A large (1.5 metres diameter) round embellished steel shield that she once stuck in a dinosaur's mouth. Made using one hand and braced using the other. There is also a more stereotypical shield, which is about 69cm tall.

    • Hammer: A large steel hammer made from both fists.

    • Hairblades: Like the nanocutter, but closer to a normal sword. Good when she wants force, rather than finnese.

    • Lance: It's a lance. Very pointy.

    • Feather Bullet: Non-lethal feather flechettes which are fired from a small pair of wings Eve grows out of her arm. Fairly weak, they instead are fired fast, and a lot of them can be fired very quickly. They hurt, but cause no serious injuries. Also her only ranged attack.

    • Sword: A large sword she created to show off to Rex, she doesn't use it.

    • Eve has once turned her entire body (or at least a thick layer of it) to steel without dying. She also can turn seperate body parts to steel to take bullets, etc, but must have at least two seconds warning, and until she learns some stronger materials, anything which can go through steel can go straight through her.

    • She can create clothes for herself using the same principle, and dissolve clothes into a transformation in the same manner.

    • As Eve's powers are adaptive by nature, it is highly likely that this list will change as the RP continues.

    • Weaknesses: Electric shocks (like a taser) mess up the electrical currents that run between her nanites, canceling any transformations. A lot of transformations in a short amount of time tire her out.

    • The nanomachines mean that her wounds heal faster than normal people. No regenerating limbs, and not incredibly fast (and it won't happen if she does a full body transformation) but faster than is normal (about 3x the speed). To recover from truly devastating wounds, she will fall into a deep sleep, and not wake up until they are mostly healed. this boosts her regenerative abilities to 10x her normal speed.

    • These also give her unusual strength (enough to carry most of her forms) and endurance (tanking blows that would leave a normal person unconscious).

    • She requires 2-5 seconds between transformations, dependent on the complexity of the transformation and whether or not she has done it before. If the transformation is damaged, it will hurt her, but, depending on which one it is, may not damage her. To repair it, she must dissolve then reform the transformation.

  • She knows some fighting techniques, but is not a master of any of them.

  • She is a trivia queen.

Items: Nothing but the clothes on her back (which are normal clothes).

Other:

  • She has an unrequited crush on Sven.

  • There exists a serum (known as N.S Serum) which can put her in a trance in which she will obey the orders of the person who injected her without hesitation. It ups her transformation abilities to their highest, but has long-lasting detrimental effects on her health. If she gets injected, she must be knocked unconsious, or (in the City) killed, otherwise she won't snap out of it. Sven and Train destroyed it with extreme prejudice, but it can be remade.
  • For reasons never quite extrapolated upon, but heavily implied to be because she's the prototype for them all, Eve gets feverish when nanomachines from her world are activated anywhere nearby (nearby being a large radius, along the lines of 10km).

Done!

This was actually the first character I considered joining up as (before I knew Rex was in the RP).

CUE THEME SONG!

    open/close all folders

    Wander
  • Story: Wander over Yonder
  • Name: "Wander"
  • Age, gender, and species: His gender (male) is the only straightforward answer out of all of these. Wander's species is a total mystery, but he is a small, orange, fuzzy alien who fans have taken to calling a 'star nomad,' since he travels throughout the galaxy with no real home of his own. In a series full of space creatures, we haven't seen anyone like him, so he may even be the Last of His Kind. As for his age, he looks like your typical ageless cartoon character ala Bugs Bunny, but he's actually at least a thousand years old, though almost certainly more.
  • Appearance: Never hurts to help!
  • Personality: Wander is the epitome of an All-Loving Hero. He's an upbeat goofball whose mood normally ranges from mellow banjo-strumming to hyperactive curiosity. Above all, though, he is idealistic and cheerful, and his life mission is to help as many people as possible. If a day is spent without breaking up a war between miniature civilizations, trekking over mountains to return a lost sock, or holding up traffic to help some snail kids cross the street, then it is not only a day wasted, but Wander will probably have gone a little nuts. Wander is so bad with self-control that he absolutely cannot stand not helping everybody in need that he passes by. This is probably why he can barely sit still, and his best friend Sylvia often finds that he's run off to talk to someone the second her back is turned. He's also determined to make friends with everybody, up to and especially the villains (the majority of which he's actually managed to reform through hardcore Power Of Friendship).
    • Some of Wander's other flaws are his inability to resist temptation; give him a box and tell him not to open it, and he will be driven insane to the point of hallucinating over what could possibly be inside. His endless enthusiasm comes off as annoying to many people, but he seems to be ditzy and oblivious to this. There are more than a few hints, though, that his constantly goofy attitude is just an act. He's good at coming up with clever schemes on the spot and hiding his actions behind his usual brand of randomness, but there are a few times where he lets the mask slip. In one episode, for example, we see that there is a part of him that "knows what it's like to be helpless." Whatever this means, Wander is terrified by this side of himself, and it's said that this is the exact reason why Wander is so obsessively helpful. We'll probably never know what the exact event that left him so helpless was, but without this event, Wander would have been your average heroic hero of justice, more interested in vanquishing evil than befriending it.
    • Other darker sides of Wander's personality: he knows when it's necessary to do a bad thing to make the world better. For example, that trademark hat of his? Wander stole that hat because its magic powers were the root of a civil war. He managed to end the war by taking the hat and now wears it for its protection.
  • Backstory: Where the heck did Wander come from? His real name and potential family is a total mystery, but there's a lot of evidence to suggest that Wander traveled through many galaxies, doing good deeds and reforming villains left and right in each one. For every galaxy, he also seemed to adopt whatever name the locals gave him. Wander would always leave the galaxy he was in behind in a happier, better state than he left it. Our only timeline is based around the Planetary Alignment, which happens once every thousand years. Wander has seen at least two of these. Thus, that mysterious "helpless" event happened over a thousand years ago, as did the civil war involving Wander's hat. We also know that Wander was recently being fought over by some bounty hunters, one of whom was Sylvia, who ended up "winning" him and taking off with him in a sack. We don't know why Wander was being targeted, but Wander reformed Sylvia from her shady ways and they've been best friends ever since.
    • From the start of the series and beyond, Wander's story is much easier to follow. In the current galaxy, his main focus is on an evil but incompetent villain known as Lord Hater. Wander is convinced that Hater is his best friend whose Heelā€“Face Turn is just around the corner, but Hater despises him for being an annoying little critter who's always messing up his plans to CONQUER THE GALAXY! Wander's presence does have an effect, though (or perhaps this was Wander's plan all along), and Hater is soon so focused on destroying Wander that he stops trying to take over planets, though this lets all the other villains re-conquer Hater's territory and make him into a laughingstock.
    • In season two, the dynamic is changed when a villain called Lord Dominator comes along. She's a sociopath who has zero interest in "helping" or "friendship," and she's bent on completely obliterating the galaxy. This barely deters Wander for more than an episode before he's off trying to find the good in her. By the end of the series, Dominator is completely unswayed and every planet but one (where the refugees have been hiding) has been turned to rubble. Hater finds the good in his heart—well, sort of—to protect the last planet from Dominator, and there is one last showdown against her. Even though Wander cracks the Freudian Excuse to why Dominator is so cruel all the time and then saves her from an explosion, she refuses to befriend him and storms off, not dead but powerless and humiliated. Hater comes to his senses and starts chasing Wander around, and the series presumably goes on with Wander's familiar old pattern: help everybody he meets. Even though Disney never renewed the third season. Gosh dang.
  • Skills/powers/abilities:
    • Quick and agile: It's difficult to talk it out with someone while they're shooting you with lasers, so Wander has perfected the art of using his small size to dodge most projectiles that come flying his way. He's also quite speedy, but of the Fragile Speedster variety.
    • Stronger than he looks: Not that a fuzzy orange twig looks very strong in the first place, but Wander seems to be at least as physically strong as an average adult human.
    • Musically talented!: Wander's prize instrument is his banjo, but he also has a nice singing voice and seems to be able to play many instruments, like saxophone and guitar. We can only assume music is a hobby of his.
    • ...the Power of Friendship?: Whether or not this is even a power, (note: this is not a power) Wander is great at making friends, whether they be citizens, villains, objects of debatable sentience, emotionless killing robots, or physical embodiments of the universe that can potentially rip apart the fabric of spacetime. (He has tea with her once a week.) He also has a talent for figuring out what made bad guys turn bad in the first place—loneliness, insecurity—and reassuring them that they've got a friend to count on.
  • Items: Wander's hat. This hat is actually a borderline character in itself, and it has its own section in the Characters page, but I'm counting it as an item. It was the subject of a civil war, as mentioned above, because this hat functions as a Bag of Holding that can pull out any object that you need. Not what you want, what you need, and if you force it when the hat knows better than you, some nasty things can happen. Once, when the hat was stolen and the previous civil war was being reenacted by two people (and both of them tortured the hat in attempts to get exactly the items they wanted out of it), Wander's hat went berserk, spewing out mountains of random stuff, and only Wander could get it to stop. Wander himself doesn't use the hat's ability very much. Maybe he respects the hat too much to bother it, maybe he forgets to use it, or maybe he's fine with getting along without it. He does use the hat as a sleeping bag, and stores items like his banjo inside of it. Oh, and it's used as a parachute (cartoon logic).
    • His banjo. Just a regular ol' banjo that plays banjo music, but Wander seems quite attached to it.
  • Other: Wander has an American Southern (Dixie) accent, and he's been estimated at 3 feet, 1 inch tall. He's also a vegetarian.
    • The only person in the galaxy that Wander truly considers his enemy is Dr. Screwball Jones, an extremely weird banana in swirly glasses voiced by Weird Al. Whenever the two meet, Wander yanks his hat over his eyes, whips a cape from it, and assumes a parody-Batman persona, complete with a dark and gritty voice.
  • Nerfs: Wander's hat is not allowed to conjure up anything, though Wander can still fit his banjo and various items he has on hand inside.

    Sylvia
  • Story: Wander over Yonder
  • Name: Sylvia
  • Age, gender, and species: A female Zbornak, and probably the equivalent of in her 20s or 30s.
  • Appearance: Gropdarn it, Wander! Probably around 5'6 when standing straight.
  • Personality: In contrast to silly and carefree Wander, Sylvia is tough and no-nonsense. She's stubborn and loves a good fight, and she'll never back down from a challenge. She's even named her fists "Lady Haymaker" and "The Duchess of Whaling." She also plays the voice of reason, often dragging Wander back from doing stupid things in the name of helpfulness, and she comes up with some clever plans pretty often. Despite getting irritated constantly by Wander putting the two of them in danger, she respects him and his sense of duty greatly, and in fact relies on his endless optimism to keep her going. Sylvia is also Wander's Sapient Steed, complete with reins and a saddle, and she lets him sleep on her back at night.
    • She has a weakness for competition. She used to be a racer, but her obsession over winning led to her entering a Turns Red state, which in turn gave her the nickname "Timebomb"...this clip illustrates it best. Sylvia's got a short temper at the best of times, but competition makes it impossible to control.
  • Backstory: Sylvia is a Zbornak, a tough species of alien from an unnamed planet. Her dad died when she was young, and her family of a mom, grandma, and three older brothers meant that she grew up in a tough family that was full of roughhousing all the time (though this is probably usual for their species). At an unknown time before the series, Sylvia ran away from home without telling anyone. Before she met Wander, she presumably did many things, including was a racer, but she quit when she never won a race due to her Timebomb tendencies. Later on, she ran into a delinquent named Ryder, the first person who she allowed to use her as a steed. The two of them were great friends, but Ryder brought out the worst in Sylvia, and they split up. Then Sylvia was a bounty hunter, and this is around the point where she almost captured Wander as a bounty. He presumably managed to talk her out of it, reformed her, and the two of them became best friends. Wander talked Sylvia into traveling the galaxy with him, nomad-style, to explore planets and help people. He keeps her on the straight and narrow.
    • Sylvia is right there with Wander at the start of the series, and while she doesn't approve of his "friendship" with Lord Hater, she knows she can't stop him. Still, she also knows when he's gone too far and it's time to start beating things up instead. Lord Dominator terrifies and then infuriates her, and she is adamant that Wander will never be able to befriend her and it's best to just stop Dominator the brute-force way before it's too late. She ends up being right about Wander being unable to make her his friend, but he never gives up, and it's the fact that Wander never gave up that allowed Sylvia to not give up either. The two of them are still the best of pals when the series ends, and when they show up in the City.
  • Skills/powers/abilities:
    • Super Strength: Being a Zbornak, Sylvia is much stronger than Wander, able to lift boulders bigger than herself and carry Wander around like it's nothing. Sylvia's also quite durable.
    • Speed: She can probably run at around the speed of a regular horse (25-30 miles per hour). Because she is a steed and all.
    • Prehensile tail: She can pick things up with her tail and such.
    • Mechanical skill: She's no wizard, but she can do repairs on spaceship engines.
    • Large Bladder!...uh: Zbornaks only have to go to the bathroom every five months, even though it takes them out of action for a few hours. This is probably not going to be relevant in the City, but better safe than sorry...?
  • Items: Sylvia's bridle and saddle, which she never takes off. She's reluctant to let just anybody use them.
    • Orbble juice. This item belongs to both Sylvia and Wander. It looks like a regular bottle of bubble soap, but when the bubble wand is waved through the air it created a large bubble that floats up and allows for travel through the vacuum of space. It follows bubble physics: it can be popped from the outside with a sharp object, but if the two people inside the bubble want to go their separate ways, they can just walk in the opposite direction and split the bubble into two smaller but still working components. Orbble juice bottles are usually refilled at "orbble pumps," like gas stations.
  • Other: Her favorite food is Slarnak Deli's Jellyfish Pie. It's probably just as gross as it sounds.
  • Nerfs: To be applied.

Okay, I am thinking of rejoining as Alexander Anderson. Be ready for a fanatical catholic vampire killing priest fighting demons. (Be very OOC if he didn't)

Please allow me to introduce myself, I am a man of wealth and taste. Nice to meet you, hope you can guess my name.

Alright, finally getting around to these signups. Unfortunately none of my friends knew these series so I have to do things the hard way and check character trope pages.

@secretlyasuperhero: Your note about Eve's durability got eaten. And the word you're looking for is progenitor. Anyway, the signup seems accurate enough, there's just a couple of balance concerns which come down to similar questions as what I asked of Deis signing up as Rex.

How fast can she create the transformations; if someone wrecks a part of her that's just a transformed extension, does that actually hurt her at all; and how fast can she repair said wreckage?

@Syrika: Checking the tropes for Wander, Sylvia, and Wander's hat is going to take much longer so I'll get to that in another post.

A transformation seems to take 2-5 seconds from an untransformed state. To create a new transformation, she must revert to an untransformed state first. It will take longer than that if it's the first time she uses that particular transformation.

It will hurt, but if it's one of the ones made out of hair, it won't actually damage her. More importantly, it means she will need to reform the transformation, which will tire her out.

Thank for the word. Also, I'll try to update the form list as the RP goes on.

@secretlyasuperhero: Alright, that sounds fair enough then. If you could just edit to mention that somewhere and also fix the part that got eaten, and it'll all be good.

Eve is accepted.

@Syrika: Alright, the sheet seems accurate enough, save for maybe mentioning that Wander and Sylvia are apparently both a Big Eater. Just a couple things need addressing.

I don't believe Wander's propensity for making friends is a real power; even if it was, it would be violating the rules about mental effects if he could somehow become friends with anyone and anything no matter what.

And his hat being able to conjure anything so long as it's needed is absolutely not allowed. Even with that caveat it's still pretty blatantly overpowered, not to mention reality warping. (Yes I know one of the previous characters in the RP had a similar item, but on reflection I don't know why I allowed it. In fact, I'm not even positive that I did ever explicitly allow it.) Its other functions, being a Bag of Holding and impromptu sleeping bag/parachute are fine.

I'll nerf Wander's hat, then!!

Hmm, then I might need to rethink the items that come from the hat vs the ones that Wander stored in there for safekeeping. The banjo and the orbble juice will certainly still be in there, but there's been a map mentioned in at least one episode that I'm not too sure about...

Well it all looks fine now, though you didn't respond or change anything about his friendship "power".

What's the big deal about the map though? If it's just a map of his universe or something in his universe, then whatever. If it's supposed to be some kind of special map that automatically shows the layout of where he is, then it just wouldn't work in the city.

Anyway, Wander and Sylvia are accepted.

Whoops! Re: friendship, I didn't consider it much of a power either; more of a skill, at the most...? I'll clarify that a little. As for the map, it's just a regular old map.

Thank you!
