Also Netflix grabs unoriginal anime like Little Witch Academia and Violet Evergarden and streams it themselves exclusive worldwide.
Netflix has announced they will quadruple their efforts to run anime, original and unoriginal, this year alone. The thing is, they don;t market them well, your obliviousness to this fact seeming to be proof of that.
I could see why Netflix would be one of the causes to Adult Swim & Toonami’s ratings decline. The company, while not marketing it heavily, has shown an increase interest in anime from licensing older shows to binge on (like Death Note, Yugioh and Ruroni Kenshin), to having exclusives contents to air (like Glitter Force, Seven Deadly Sins, Aggressive Retsuko) to streaming live action movies/shows of animes (like Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist and Mob Psycho 100 . . . the former two were obvious fails but I am not sure about Mob Psycho as I have yet to watch that show) and to whatever the fuck Neo Yokio was. And their content for western animation is really good enough to compete with Adult Swim with their shows at worst being a Love It Hate It Base Breaker (Big Mouth) and at best a critically acclaim winner good enough to win multiple Emmies and completely change the way people view adult animation(Bojack Horseman).

Gill cleared things up. the marathon will go on CN first, then move to Boomerang. Adult Swim will run as usual.
Genndy Tartakovsky has a new project ("Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal") recently trademarked by Cartoon Network Inc.
Seeing as Samurai Jack Season 5 was co-produced by Cartoon Network Studios, and was a ratings hit for Adult Swim at the time, I wouldn't be surprised if the network is interested in keeping in good terms with him for a bit longer.

I bet it will be an action show. That gets cancelled on a cliffhanger.
I misread that as "live action show".
And considering the track record of previous Tartakovsky shows on the network, I could unfortunately see that.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Cartoon Network was a real hoot.
Hmm.

Since those probably didn't fix anything, it's an episode from the fifth season called "Time of My Life"where Johnny recounts the story of his highschool crush, Sandy Baker and how she stood him up on prom night. I always remember Johnny as being the lovable idiot who was often more at fault for his misfortunes than not. This... doesn't really invalidate that, but the jokes landed and I actually felt bad for him.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I really don't know how the hell Van Partible was able to keep that up on his You Tube account without it getting deleted. Maybe he still has some pull at CN.
But the thing is, the last season of Johnny Bravo was just... terrible. Really bad. It wasn't as funny as the first season (which itself wasn't really as funny as the terrific Hartle-Tingblad-Calabrese era).
There was at least one good episode, though, which Partible also has on his You Tube channel, "That's Entertainment!" The part where Donny Osmond tells his version of "Jack and Jill" is hilarious. ("My brother Alan used to tell me that story every night.")
"They say I'm old fashioned, and live in the past, but sometimes I think progress progresses too fast."Cartoon statuses straight from Steve Hulett. Interesting bits include:
- The Powerpuff Girls (2016) is ending.
- Steven Universe is either getting more shorts or a special that's longer than half an hour.
- Apple & Onion and Summer Camp Island are getting another season.
- Victor and Valentino got picked up.
- Tiggle Winks also got picked up, though it's on Adult Swim for some reason.
- There's a new Scooby Doo special/movie, Scooby Doo and the Red Ghost.
- Warner Bros. is making something called Green Eggs and Ham. I'm not sure what that is, but I'm assuming it's a Dr. Suess cartoon.
- Space Jam 2 is apparently a thing. Steve guesses it's going to be in CGI.
- Superjail! is apparently coming back.

Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Green Eggs And Ham can't be anything but a Dr. Seuss cartoon.
CGI mixed with live-action will lose a lot of the uniqueness the original Space Jam had. Nowadays you see that mix in ALL Hollywood blockbusters! Also interesting that CN/Warner Bros is producing it instead of just Warner Bros.

My guess is that it will crossover with CN characters to market more to today's kids.
"We be we baby!"So, what are the catchiest theme tunes in CN history?
Wake me up at your own risk.Peace and Love (on the Planet Earth).
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Last I heard, this is going to be a Netflix toon by WB Animation and produced by Ellen DeGeneres. (Yes, really.)
However, way later after that announcement, there had been talks about how the Dr. Seuss estate is partnering with Warner Animation Group for further Dr. Suess projects, so I'm not sure what that means for Green Eggs & Ham...
Those are some interesting news for Adult Swim: Superjail is coming back and that funny pilot Tiggle Winks is greenlitted for a show on the block.
Which is weird seeing how the pilot for that show was geared more towards a younger audience, but hey Regular Show ended up as a Cartoon Network show even though its content (and early shorts prior to being greenlited) was more appropriate for the Adult Swim demographic.
Times like these makes me wonder why the western standards of cartoons only advetised their shit to either kids or adults. I mean there are indeed animated shows/movies that air aimed more towards the in between demographic (teens and young adults), but its rare to find productions companies marketing said works for said crowd.
There is a 4-pronged demographic Hollywood tries to aim in producing their tentpole films, which includes teens and adults, both the 25-years-or-younger crowd, and the 25-years-or-older crowd. So this results in blockbusters being designed to appeal to all ages these days. Televisions shows/streaming shows have always been more fragmented and exclusive to particular demographics.
Normally I wouldn't do this but this is too good not to share.
Here is a compilation of promos from a sort of transitional era between the Checkerboard and Powerhouse periods of Cartoon Network, from about mid-1997 to early 1998. While most people believe Powerhouse got underway in its proper form the week the Cartoon Cartoon name debuted, this was not the case at all:
I remember those!
The Protomen enhanced my life.Yeah, I actually remember a number of those idents, too. They were on a tape recording of a bunch of Christmas specials aired on CN I used to have.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Somebody found a recording of the original Cartoon Network sign-on from October 1st, 1992.
DEVILMAN crybaby, those Godzilla films, Grappler Baki in a few weeks, Seven Deadly Sins, Saint Seiya next year, etc.
