But was the The Hub responsible for the creative decisions in the story as opposed to just airing/distributing it?
As for Disney, The Owl House lampoons it was mean for ages 6 to 11, while this suggest MLP's target demograph is 2 to 8. So that argues it would have been more successful in pushing the bar for content and quality. (Amphibia was based on something anathematic to FIM, the the girls genuine friendship was harmful to them selfs and each other such they had to be separated to let it recover and change for the better. Don't think FIM ever did anything this morally complex.) But maybe Disney shows pushing the envelop such are the exertion.
If FIM had a different company publishing it, would they still have the same target demographic? Would they have had the same writers, voice actors, and other creators? If not who would have replaced them? That question requires so many other hypotheticals, and the final product so different than the real one it's quality is speculative, it doesn't give an answer any more useful than the biases of those asking.
But Twilight a Disney Princess and MLP in Kingdom Hearts would be enough to make it worth considering.
I'm not so sure about that 2-8 rating, I always had the impression this show was aiming a little older, maybe 4-12?
Optimism is a duty. The Mane Seven appearing in Kingdom Hearts and being able to visit Equestria? I’d pay to play that game.
Although if Twilight Sparkle is a Disney Princess, where would that put Celestia and Luna and Cadence? :S
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Maybe? I mean one of the claim to fame FIM have is that it look like a little children cartoon but act more like a teenager to all-ages one. if this was set as honest-to-god teenager series....I dont think to many people would have seen it because it would be too much an alinating premise for many.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I mean Faust is a Cartoon Network veteran and worked at Disney for Wander Over Yonder so I'm sure she'd still have run the show if it aired on those networks. I imagine the Vancouver voice actors would've been ditched in favor of an American voice cast so Tara Strong, John de Lancie, and Maurice LaMarche would be the only recurring voice actors who'd have a chance at being kept either way.
Anyway, I've got something to bring up. Who do you all think was the show's best showrunner between Lauren Faust in season 1, Jayson Thiessen and Megan McCarthy in season 2-mid season 5, or Big Jim Miller in mid season 5-9?
So what's the deal with Starlight Glimmer and Aria looking a bit alike?
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue. Why would that be anything other than coincidence?
Speaking of Starlight, there was this Character Perception Evolution that was misused as written.
- When Starlight Glimmer made her debut in The Cutie Map two parter, she was initially well received thanks her her role in running Our Town as a cult like dictatorship, and her motivation embodying some of the darker implications of cutie marks, to the point that many highly anticipated her return. This would come at the end of the season, where she's suddenly forgiven and joins the main cast despite creating multiple bad futures, and is given a Freudian Excuse that many found to be Unintentionally Unsympathetic. As such, she became a major Base-Breaking Character, with fans arguing to this day whether or not she really earned her redemption.
CPE is about their appearances before what caused the change being re-evaluated. Starlight doesn't count because her character in "The Cuite Map" is, from what I've seen, still well revived by the same fans unhappy with her later appearances. Or is it the case that opinions on her "Cutie Map" portrayal have shifted as a result?
On that subject, has Discord undergone CPE due to his contentious actions stating in "A Matter of Principals" and the series finale? Or have fans compartmentalized their dislike to just those later appearances and like his prior ones as much as ever?
Is that trope just an inverse of Rescued from the Scrappy Heap?
Based on the other examples on the page, I'd say it's misused. I don't think how the fans perceive Starlight pre-heelface has changed after her reformation.
Scar himself looks like foreign, weak, and with very female moves. No, as Rescued is about changes that makes their later portrayals better received even if their prior ones were still reviled. CPE is when their portrayals prior to the changes are re-evaluated and retroactively seen as better or worse. And Rescued is YMMV which is not a trope so it cannot be inverted or played with.
Again, though on if CPE applies to Discord for his contentious action S8 onward causing his prior actions being re-evaluated? Or are those later portrayals seen as separate and his prior ones still well received?

Post of the Week #3566
Ginger is watching Oban Star Racers, which appears to be keeping him sane for the time being.
Surprise is here from the alternate universe that Moe's fic is set in, so she's a bit... odd, to say the least.
Otherwise, things are pretty normal, relatively speaking.

Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayI'm not too sure about Discord, but shouldn't this problem have been brought up in MLP's dedicated cleanup thread?
That thread is much more sluggish and it's the same people on this thread so I don't think it would make a difference. I'll just drop this issue if we don't have thoughts on the matter.
Since activity with the franchise has waned so much, maybe it's worth merging the thread so they can possibly get more people involved?
No, we can probably use it for other MLP series besides this one later.
Optimism is a duty.Looking back at Buckball Season, anyone find it amusing how one can sum the episode up as "Ashleigh Ball puts too much pressure on Andrea Libman to succeed"?
Speaking of other MLP series, the My Little Pony: 40th Anniversary Special comic will be coming out in a few days; it's two stories set in the real world about fans of the toys, and one set in G5 that may be Arc Welding it to G1.
So where under Franchise. My Little Pony should it go under? I'm assuming under G5. If so should it be considered part of the 2022 comic line or a operate entry?
If two things are about real-world merchandise and the third is a cross-generation thing... eh, probably just list it as its own thing and group it under G5 for chronological convenience.
Yeah, that sounds complicated. You could probably argue for filing it under the general franchise, if that is allowed.
Optimism is a duty.Back to show discussion, anyone wonder if the Rainbooms' friendship would've still fallen apart if Sunset hadn't broken them up during her bully days? Considering how Rainbow Rocks shows even without Sunset's interference, the Rainbooms still are prone to group conflict on their own that nearly destroyed their friendship had Sunset not ironically stepped in toward the end, it does make one wonder if the Rainbooms' friendship was that invincible before Sunset broke them up the first time.
Oh, absolutely. And the same thing happened to the ponies before Twilight moved into town.
Twilight was the one who really bound the group together as a pony. Interestingly, Sunset took over that role, even when Sci Twi came into the picture, due to the latter being much less assertive.
Optimism is a duty.Looking at how divisive Starlight Glimmer is with how her redemption was handled (kind of an inverse quality of Sunset Shimmer where she was badly written villain, amazing redemption) with the haters especially being vocal, does anyone have ideas on how Starlight's redemption could have been better?
> does anyone have ideas on how Starlight's redemption could have been better?
Now that..is an old can of worms
New theme music also a boxSponge loves old cans of worms, Ulti. He does this all the time.
Optimism is a duty.ew gross im not a bird I dont eat worms
New theme music also a box
I don't know. The Hub did some amazing work with the series, though, so I hesitate to say it would be an improvement animation-wise.
