Inspired by this thread, I've noticed that this wiki doesn't have a dedicated cleanup thread for negativity.
As we all know, Complaining About Shows You Don't Like, Creator Bashing and other negativity isn't desired on the wiki, except in a few selected areas like reviews and several Darth Wiki pages (and even then, with limitations). And yet, it's one of the most common sins wiki contributors can make.
So, if you find a page, TLP or discussion whose content seems like a straight-up insult or any other bitching - including complainy soapboxing -, you might ask here for help with removing said content.
The sandbox for this project is located at Works That Require Cleanup of Complaining.

Heroes in Crisis has a lot of complaining even for a highly-disliked series.
" Broken Aesop: This series attempts quite a few Aesops that don't work:
Wally's issues, as presented in this series, are very clearly meant to be a metacriticism/deconstruction of fans and DC Rebirth, arguing that no one, in-universe or out-universe, spared a thought for Wally's family and how their absence would so obviously traumatize him, all while they shoved him onto a pedestal and made him into a symbol of hope. There's one MASSIVE issue with that: that's not true. Fans have been calling for DC to give Wally his family back practically since DC Rebirth #1 was published. It was DC that refused to do anything about it, so this criticism flat out makes no sense and can even come across as incredibly hypocritical. Also, it was DC that made him into a symbol of hope, and critics and fans agreed. Not to mention Tom King himself is arguably doing the same exact thing himself in this series: using Wally as a symbol, as opposed to a character, to serve his allegory about soldiers returning home with trauma and no one around them caring, as well as using Wally's status as a symbol of hope to deliver his own message about the concept of 'hope', no matter how badly it messes with the character or how forced it is.
The claim made about this series before it started was that it was gonna focus on mental trauma and show the need for a 'safe place of healing' for those who suffer from it. To say it fumbles that message is to put it generously. The idea that Sanctuary is a place of healing is laughable, as when its shown in flashbacks it is unmistakeably cruel and ineffective and ultimately is never shown to help anyone and helps cause a massacre of those present. Also, obviously, since the story is about a massacre happening there, calling it 'safe' makes no sense, and that's not even mentioning how a criminal like Poison Ivy was sent there, because Batman alone suddenly decided she's a victim and not a criminal, and Harley Quinn had zero trouble following her there and getting in without raising an alarm.
Arguably it fumbles what's intended to be the series whole message and the point of the series (intended) Signature Scene: The big climactic confrontation between Wally and the ragtag group, which really hammers the message of You Are Not Alone. But the final panels show Wally in a prison cell, alone, isolated even more than he was at Sanctuary. Even if his narration is meant to be more positive and uplifting, the final imagery really contradicts the intended message. Also, the glaring contrast of that image with what we're shown of the other people involved in that scene, who are all shown off happy together, while he's in prison by himself, kind of reinforces the idea that he really is alone now."
The Protomen enhanced my life.YMMV.Sonic Underground seems a bit complainy. The cartoon is disliked by much of the Sonic fanbase.
I didn't think the term "Social Justice Warrior" was allowed on this wiki, as it's just asking for flame wars (from ReferencedBy.TV Tropes):
- Something Awful and various Social Justice Warrior blogs, on the other hand, hate TV Tropes for focusing on pop culture, as opposed to academic works and media of the English canon, and the sexism and downright lies of the (now defunct) Troper Tales pages.
That entry should be cut outright. It's just asking for trouble.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢Cut And Paste Translation also contains many examples that are more accurately Bowdlerization, or are just general complaining about localization changes.
Keet cleanupThis example from Analysis Channel probably needs rewording:
- The YouTuber Thuderf00t (Rational Wiki article) focuses his videos on analyzing and debunking all those supposedly revolutionary inventions that pop up on Kickstarter every once in a while. He also does videos criticizing "crazy feminists" and "religious extremists", and that's all we're gonna say here, folks.
That last part could be chopped off.
Jawbreakers on sale for 99¢YMMV.Heroes In Crisis got even more negative examples, many of which are walls of text and nattery.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Maybe copy the contents to a Sandbox for proper fixing and asking for a Lock is in order.
Been a few days. Anyone want to weigh in on Annoying Laugh?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessInternetBackdraft.Vampire The Masquerade Fifth Edition was just made and has a lot of minor complaints lodged against major ones, with no sources for the smaller-scale ones and natter and justifying edits in almost all of it. The YMMV page also has some of that, particularly natter.
InternetBackdraft.Fallout 76 is a complain magnet too.

The Protomen enhanced my life.I'll look at the vtm pages here shortly. I've been slowly working on cleaning out all the old world of darkness stuff (most of the pages are a mess of natter, complaining, and trope misuse)
I posted about this on the Real Life cleanup thread but it wasn't commented on, so I'm putting it here too. TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.Web Original seems to have a lot of the problems TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.Real Life falls into, so I think they should both be looked at. A lot of the page is huge walls of text and they are near-universally praised as awesome, even if whoever they're giving the speech to is a real person or multiple people and not a fictional character, and many of them violate the Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement, are Righting Great Wrongs, and/or take advantage of There Is No Such Thing as Notability by citing Tumblr posts and Youtube videos. I think it should be made In-Universe Examples Only or No Real Life Examples, Please! if possible, especially since by definition a lot of it constitutes complaining and bashing.
Examples from the Real Life page:
"A user on Facebook delivered a brutal tirade directed at Todd Howard regarding the Fallout 76 fiasco."
" In the wake of Blizzard Entertainment's very controversial announcement of Diablo Immortal (a mobile entry in the series reviled for being simply a reskinned version of an existing mobile game rather than a true Diablo game for mobile devices; on top of the fact that series's fanbase is primarily a PC-based one.), Mark Kern, the lead designer for Diablo 2, had this to say regarding Blizzard's ill thought-out announcement and their clumsy handling of the situation and calls the company out over losing their touch with their audience, and also calls out game journalists and game devs harassing or mocking the beloved series' devoted fanbase who were (understandably) unhappy with the news."
" Hirokazu Yasuhara delivered a delicious one of these to Takashi Iizuka over his failure to prevent the failings of the Sonic movie."
Examples from the Web Original page:
" When covering the worst videos he has commentated on, You Tube commentator Akriloth 2160 gives one to Shaclone for attempting to deflect blame for getting banned from League of Legends due to his attitude."
" Arlo gives a 9 minute-long speech calling out Nintendo as a whole over Paper Mario: Color Splash, and how asinine and arbitrary changing the direction of the Paper Mario games is."
" In his Top 5 Best and Worst Animated Films for 2013, Ani Mat gave a short one to not only the people who worked on Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, but to anyone who supported (i.e liked) the film as well, stating that they "should be ashamed of themselves, and even would need to reconsider their life." The resulting backlash was prominent, with many users on Facebook and You Tube calling him out for hating the film, and others for stating the comment in the video. He replied with on his You Tube page: [snip] In response to this, several users would chew him out for the comment. Although several comments against him were manually deleted by him, eventually blocking comments entirely, some of these managed to be saved, one of these being this trope, explaining what was wrong, before they unsubscribed:"
" In Z-Squared's review of Double Rainboom, the titular reviewer, after enduring what he considers a BAD, BAD, BAD "tribute" to one of his favorite shows, gives one to it's creator, Zachary Rich, after realizing he was the only writer. He has this to say to him:"
I say delete since they are directed at real life people.
I think the "The Reason You Suck" Speech examples from real-life people directed at real-life people should be removed since it could be used to import drama. Though I think examples of things such as a reviewer giving one to a fictional character or piece of media or a piece of fiction giving one to a real-life person are fine.
That sounds like a good rule.
Keet cleanupWhat stance should be taken regarding bashing in WMGs? I found one on the Fire Emblem Fates page that boiled down to "I think this part of the game is bad, therefore it is not canon".
Edited by Spider-Guinevere on Jun 7th 2019 at 6:42:19 PM
I wanna dance with somebodyThat's really skirting the line. I'd strongly consider removing it.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Ok, going through Vampire The Masquerade Fifth Edition. I'm not as involved with all parts of the fandom as some, so I can't say for certain on a lot of these.
In my humble opinion, the Nazi and Chechnya examples are 100% legit. There was huge outrage about this from a lot of people, and a significant amount of upset also from people who didn't like it, but felt the first group was overreacting.
The stock photo, Tremere, and pedophile examples might be able to stay, I've seen some grousing about all three, but not sure it reaches Internet Backdraft levels, especially in comparison to the other stuff.
Just about everything else can probably go.
A Gameplay and Story Segregation on one of the Warhammer 40,000 pages was recently changed from:
- Gameplay and Story Segregation: Primaris Marines can only take Repulsors and Thunderhawk Gunships as transports, but not Mastodons (which are even bigger than Repulsors and can even carry Centurions and Primarchs, who are clearly bigger and bulkier than Primaris) or Thunderhawk Transporters. Even then, a Thunderhawk cannot transport both Primaris Marines and normal Marines at the same time. The reason for these restrictions has never been explained.

I was origionally going to edit it because the Repulsors are two years old now so can hardly be considered "nice shiny new" but I am unsure whether the addition as a whole would be considered complaining about GWs business practices.
Seems unnecessary, especially as it really just boils down to "big company wants people to buy more of its products".
Thanks. Deleted.
These entries on FranchiseOriginalSin.Sonic The Hedgehog seems complainy and also inaccurate, as to my knowledge it's not implied that Tails is killed in the Bad End. What happens is Sonic is running, stops, and looks up at the night sky, which has a constellation of Tails.
The Game Gear version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 introduced a couple of elements that would become more contentious later on:
- The bad ending implies that Tails is murdered by Eggman, which, combined with Sonic Spinball and Sonic Sat AM, was a subtle move to the Darker and Edgier route. The tone ended up becoming a major point of contention over whether or not it's a good thing once it became blatant to the point of crossing into We're Still Relevant, Dammit! in Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 2006. It wouldn't be until 2010's Sonic Colors that the series moved in the opposite direction... to the point of more contention.
- Said game also introduced Tails as being "weak", being easily captured by Robotnik. Fast-forward twenty-five years, and Sonic Forces' story was criticized for portraying Tails as cowering at Chaos (a character that had long-since been defeated) and having very little agency within the plot.
Those examples should be cut regardless since they don't explain why the Darker and Edgier tone or Tails' characterization as weak were originally ignored or tolerated, which Franchise Original Sin requires. Franchise Original Sin has a problem with both complaining and misuse since people use it to point out flaws an entire franchise has without explaining why they were originally tolerated. The example at the top about Sonic Adventure should also be cut for this same reason.

No, it can’t. If her sexuality was never brought up at all in the games, there’s nothing to change.
The bit about "our Jaheira" needs to go as well. That counts as This Troper, and should be removed.
