I have a funny story about exploding. When I was writing my first book for the very first time, my younger brother came up with this funny alternate ending.
I had the idea about The Hero escaping by commandeering the Big Bad's yacht, but when he stepped onto the deck, my brother had the idea that a Voltorb would roll along and activate its Explosion ability. Of course, the hero freaked out and picked up the Voltorb, but in his panicked state, he threw it in between his hands, and right when he was finally about to throw it, the Pokémon exploded. When the smoke cleared, he was standing there all blackened and with his hair messed up and with a cheesy-looking grin on his face, and then he turned into a pile of dust. XD
