Ok, scratch that. My initial judgment was somewhat skewered. I wouldn't quite call Magnus a Type IV or V, and he while he seems a bit less hostile than others, it looks like he'd be a Type III.
They could have still been allies before whatever caused them to split.

Magnus seems to be a mercenary blood knight. He seems to really enjoy battle and will follow whoever pays him money.
From what we've seen from him, we can't really make a judgment. He seems pleasant enough, but I'm wondering what kind of moral standards he has, if any.
But yeah, I'm guessing Type 3.

One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderI'm half-expecting Medusa to bribe him into fighting Pit.
Hmmmm.
Magnus for the next Super Smash Bros!

One of my few regrets about being born female is the inability to grow a handlebar mustache. -LandstanderI'd actually prefer Gaol. That way we'd have one hero and one villain.
Give the series three reps. Pokemon can lose Jigglypuff for all I ****ing care.
Maybe. It depends on what kind of combat Magnus has. We have plenty of sword wielders already so he'd have to be different enough.
Really? Medusa wasn't your first choice?
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackMedusa seems more like a Gaol final smash thing. Especially considering Pit has Palutena.
Depends on what Medusa (in her Goddess form, not as the cursed monster) is capable of doing here in Uprising. All we've seen is a giant astral projection of her wave around her staff (excuse me, gotta drool for a sec).
Eh, I'd have liked Orcos. Up B Fire body or A knock off of Pit's Up B
Down B Tail Darts
B Fire Balls
Smash B Summon Bats
Final Smash: Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever
But since Sora made Medusa the main antagonist again I figured her fat Cyclops form from the manual or maybe the new form. She might work better as a Final Smash though, I'm having an easier time thinking up final smashes than normal moves for her.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI don't think Orcos would have enough recognition to get into a future game, especially with Medusa returning as the Big Bad. Few people are aware that Uprising is the third game in the series, so everything from the second game is pretty obscure.
I'm fairly sure even the developers themselves aren't aware of it, since the second one didn't even release in Japan.
This game looks incredibly fun and awesome, but... what genre is it? What is it about?? :/
It's part rail shooter, part action adventure (with slight shades of hack-n-slash), I guess.
You don't really need to know the story, but here's an abbreviated rundown. Years ago, Palutena, the Goddess of Light (the green haired chick) and Medusa, the Goddess of Darkness (the snake-haired lady) co-ruled Angel Land together in harmony. However, Medusa was spiteful towards the humans and menaced them, forcing Palutena to curse Medusa and expelled her into the Underworld. Medusa vowed revenge and eventually raised an army, overtaking Angel Land, Palutena, and most of her forces (the Centurions). Palutena bestowed some of her power upon an angel named Pit, who fought his way through Medusa's army, eventually killing the goddess herself (who reverted to her original appearance upon dying). These were the events of the first game. The sequel, Of Myths and Monsters, doesn't have much bearing on this game, so I'll skip it. Now, 24 years after the first game (a meta-nod to the time between this game and the release date of the original), Medusa has revived and is again revolting against Palutena.
They have to be aware, redesigned Pit's hair style comes from Of Myth And Monsters, there's a sticker in Brawl to prove it. Uprising focuses on the first game but it's possible the gameboy sequel will get shout outs in the future.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackWould they release the Kid Icarus game for the 3DS VC at some point to help promote this?
am I hearing Conan Edogawa on Kid Icarus in Japanese?I just love Minami Takayama voicing boys...
Why not? Gameboy games are 8 bit, they shouldn't be that hard to translate.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackSo hey, anyone seen the preview video that can be downloaded to 3DSes? It's basically just a 1-minute trailer, but it's nice to have a trailer that can be seen in 3D. It's pretty nice.
Though I'm starting to wonder if perhaps the art-style is a bit too... I dunno, rough? Too detailed? Can't quite put my finger on it.
I have a message from another time...So the Nintendo Power I got today had a ton of information on this game that I don't think has been posted on this thread yet, at least:
- Not sure if this was previously known, but there seem to be special moves for forward, backward, and side dashes that vary depending on what weapon you have equipped
- The flight segments are brief guided sequences that take place while Palutena briefs you on the next mission
- Conversation will play almost constantly as you play through levels, usually between Pit and Palutena, but various enemies or allies will also take part
- Palutena will sometimes show up on one of the screens to show things like artwork or how an enemy looked in the original Kid Icarus
There are nine categories of weapons, each one with apparently an enormous amount of different types in the game:
- Bow (poor melee, strong homing, good for long range)
- Blade (well-rounded, fire heat-seeking projectiles from long range)
- Club (so heavy that Pit needs to stop and rest after running a short distance while holding one, but very strong and good at mid-range, their swings can knock back projectiles)
- Staff (Longest range of any weapon type, no homing properties)
- Palm (Quick projectiles, good for mid-range combat)
- Cannon (Slow rate of fire, shells fly in an arc so they are difficult to aim, but make enormous explosions upon detonating)
- Arm (fires powerful projectiles, short range in melee but some of the most powerful weapons in the game at any range)
- Claws (shortest range of any weapon type, strikes with quick lengthy combos at close range, rapidfire projectiles)
- Orbitars (apparently floating shoulder plate things; fires two projectiles with one shot, deals good damage with side dash attacks)
- Weapons come with a randomized set of abilities like a small defensive boost, a chance to paralyze foes, or longer-ranged shots. You can pass a "seed" of one of your weapons along so your friends can buy it in their own games.
- Various single-use items like Centurion helpers or shields
- You can set various magical powers to a power grid, but only as many fit on the grid, and each can be used only a certain amount of times per chapter
- The multiplayer mode - three on three divided into a light team and a dark team, every time a player dies and is reborn, the team loses some energy from a communal bar; when the bar hits zero, the final character to fall becomes Pit/Dark Pit, and the opposing team must now hunt down the enemy angel to win
Phew. Even if this turns out to all be old news, at least it's all here in one place now so hopefully this wasn't a complete waste of time.
Welcome to th:|Not all of it is old news to me. I didn't know there were different types of forward/backward/side dashes depending on the weapon, nor that weapons were divided into 9 categories, or that they had random stats (wonder if it's inspired by Borderlands?), or about the single-use items or the power grid.
In other words, there's a lot of new information in there. Thanks!!
Seeing as this is a TPS, i'm hoping it's compatible with the circle pad pro so I can just use the standard dual-stick control scheme. Th precision of which might be more or less necessary for multiplayer. On the other hand, Last I checked I enjoyed Metroid Prime Hunters so this might work too.
In any case, the dialogue is teh best. Teh best, I say.
Please tell me the "Weapon seeds" aren't exclusive per game/file, I don't want to be screwed out of a staff of paralysis just because my generated staff has a +50 HP bonus instead. I like the idea of randomly generated stats because it means different people will experience it different ways and will play the game their own way, but being forced to trade with others to form a complete set is pretty obnoxious. Just ask Fable players.

Well, our first shot of Magnus (from that one trailer) was of him raising his sword to Gaol and delivering a snarky pre-battle one-liner. I don't think that their relationship is a good one.
I have a message from another time...
