Really? Dark Pit was like my favorite Pit costume in Brawl. I'm a sucker for costumes that do more than just swap the color of clothing.

I have a message from another time...

[up][up] Interesting.

So is he just some dark mirror version similar to Dark Link or is he an actual character with a name?

He's apparently important to the story and is a miniboss in at least one mission. I don't know much more than that.

Sounds interesting!

[up][up] Well that's good.

One of my biggest beefs with Dark Link is that he never gets any character. He's just a BLAM.

Considering Dark Link is usually just a trap or test Link I don't know why he'd have character. Dark Pit reminds me of Puts from the game boy game(who were surprisingly among the less annoying enemies)

Ever since Brawl came out back in '08. I always hypothesised that a possible new Kid Icarus game would have a "Dark Pit" character.

Looks like I was right.

Even if they don't have an explanation, we can expect Palutena and Pit to have many snarky comments about Dark Pit.

Can't wait for that.

@ Pipping: If anything, Brawl retroactively turned out to be one big Early-Bird Cameo for this game.

I didn't play any of the four swords games, maybe Dark Link had more to him there? I know Dark Pit will be in a battlefront-light multiplayer mode, that's good enough for me.

Personally I'm not fond of Dark Pit. There is little excuse for Palette Swaps nowadays, developers can put in the extra effort to avoid this.

I'd like an Evil Counterpart to Pit who has the same body type but is not a complete recolor.

To be honest, they already did this before with Putt, so I'm not miffed about it.

We already have Magnus as a foil to Pit, and characters like Gaol are in Medusa's army. Why don't we wait and see what Dark Pit is up to before passing final judgment.

Wait, where did they confirm the 4 chapters in this game? Are there any video playthroughs of them?

The episodic nature of each chapters pretty much fits the format the anime studios will probably go for with the shorts.

I'm not sure, Nintendo has overused the evil Palette Swap way too much already. We've got Shadow Mario, Dark Link(excusable cause it was the NES ERA), Dark Kirby, Dark Samus, and we almost even had a Dark Donkey Kong in Jungle Beat!

I liked Putt better because his sprite was slightly different and he didn't have DARK in his name.

I just really think Nintendo over uses color coded clones.

I will admit Dark Samus, Dark Link, and Blood Falcon were enjoyable.

I think they'll pull off Dark Pit well just because I'm sure Tara Strong and Johnny Yong Bosch will have a lot to say about him.

[up][up][up]Would each chapter be made up of one of the flight/ground battle/boss trio things, or would they be longer than that? Because that would seem disappointingly short if the former...

Dark Kirby wasn't evil, and was in a game full of pallet swaps for the entire rainbow, Dark Samus wasn't a pallet swap, she just had similar armor. Shadow Mario was a Paper-Thin Disguise.

As far as design, Dark Pit isn't special. As far as character, we don't know anything outside of multiplayer. For an evil counterpart who isn't a pallet swap, there's Orcos...it just seems that Uprising's focus is on the first game. Sakurai obviously knows the second game exists, given the stickers in Super Smash Bros Brawl, Orcos may get a shout out in the future.(hopefully redesigned to look a little less like a Gargoyle if he wasn't Killed Off for Real)

I wanna see Pit an Paluteana Lampshade the "Evil Palette Swap" trope like they did with "Dark Lord" and "Bosses/Minibosses"

So Palutena is now Genre Savvy while Pit is more Wrong Genre Savvy. And they have their own anime... That's one big push of a Kid Icarus revival.

I always imagined a Kid Icarus revival as something like a blend of Zelda and Metroid, with a bit more of an emphasis on platforming, but I'm still pretty excited for this. And if it does well, maybe Kid Icarus could finally become a big IP for Nintendo.

[up][up] This is essentially a brand new IP for them. I think adding a new title to their collection of 1st party games deserves such a monumental marketing push.

It's technically 2nd-party, since it's developed by another company. Video gaming publications used to note the distinction between the two, but stopped years ago for some reason.

Anyway, I really want to see this game succeed. It would be great to add a new set of characters to Nintendo's roster and create a whole bunch of new fans. And maybe we'll see spinoffs/sequels that take Kid Icarus in a new direction (though I really like this particular direction). The sheer amount of voice acting and the orchestrated music are great production values I wish more Nintendo games had.
