[up] The most PG-13 Accidental Pervert tropes I can think of are Thanks for the Mammary and Funbag Airbag, and they could happen quite easily and completely accidentally in a crowded club. And if it happens that the same victim is involved in multiple occurrences of this (still completely accidentally), it won't take long for the zero harassment policy to kick in, even if the boys managed to explain themselves the first time.

[up][up] Why not just go beyond the "harassment route" and go straight up bonkers in their drunken antics on the club?

Like:

One of them trying to get up on stage and take the mic to perform their own song.

Another trying to get behind the bar to mix some random witch-brew if their own to "outshine" the bartender's "mediocre" skills.

And another that straight up conquers the dance floor with moves that nobody with a shred of sanity would attempt themselves (and in contrast to the other two mentioned above, actually manages to become a massive hit with the other patrons there, including becoming an internet phenomenon the next day from uploaded videos of that performance which the person in question have no memory of themselves the next day, to their embarrassment.)

And a fourth, the "designated driver", just recording everything with a smug smirk for later, for "blackmail materials" over the other three.

[up] X 3 @ Warjay 77:

I apologize for not answering your question; I honestly am at a bit of a loss. I hope the others helped.

Where is this town located, if I may ask? Like, what state? If it was somewhere in, like, Wyoming (Least Populated State) or Alaska (which wasn't a state at the time, but did exist as a populated territory), then it's even more plausible.

As for an answer to your question about mine, the town is in rural Oklahoma and rather cut off from the rest of the world. The townsfolk did have friends/family outside of the town, but due to it being a Town with a Dark Secret they were a little less than welcoming towards outsiders and maintained an effort to be slightly separated from the outside world much of the time.

In fairness, they were being monitored by authorities within the story's supernatural community who instantly knew when something happened, but in terms of humanity's forces, no one was the wiser for weeks. X

     Explanation bulleted for clarity

  • The area's government wants to kill (among others) Character A, who has sought help from Character B (a stranger), and been hidden in the crawlspace of Character B's house.
  • Armed government people scouting the area for any hiding targets (not just Character A, but these ones have been assigned to look for (among others) him).
  • The armed people enter the premises and question Character B about the refugees. Character A hears it when Character B eventually betrays him to save his own skin.
  • They're in front of the house, so Character A escapes to the opposite side of the house. However there's nowhere to run in the middle of an open field.
  • Character A panics, spots the outhouse (also behind the house from where the armed people are), rushes in, and somehow enters the hole.
  • The armed people check the main building, the crawlspace, the nearby ditches, and the outhouse, while Character A crouches in a corner of the shit pile trying to stay out of view.
  • The government people eventually leave, but Character A stays in the hole until nightfall, at which point he kicks a hole in the decaying back wall and runs for it.

Do you think hiding in the hole corner would work, or would Character A still be seen? How long do you think they'd keep looking? What do you think would happen to Character B? What's the worst thing that could happen disease-wise, and how likely would it be to happen?

Outhouse holes aren't that big. You only need a hole like 2-3 feet wide or so, and even a very young child would be seen. The contents of the hole would be less a pile and more a pool. Also, simply being around human waste isn't that bad for you- the health risk is more about it contaminating food and water, or it getting inside your body through open sores/cuts or you touching your face. And the amount that's in your average outhouse would be more like being around a compost pile than, say, working in a sewage treatment plant.

How many are looking for him in the area?

Depending on the answer, it might be just easier to stealth-kill all who are looking for him than just find a difficult hiding spot.

[up][up] The holes are small, but the space underneath is propably reasonable. At least my grandmother's outhouse (which has two holes use of which are swithed periodically) appears to be two or three meters deep, and is able to take regular and prolonged use by ten people without apparent changes. And in summer it might not be investigated for too long or closely because of the smell. How the character gets inside would come later.

[up] I don't know. What would be a reasonable size for such an entourage?

Character A isn't armed or physically (or psychologically) ready to kill people with something like a random piece of wood. And in the area there's only really the house, the outhouse, a few bushes not good for hiding in, and beyond that just open field not good for ambushing (but really good at getting spotted and shot at from really far away), like Netherlands.

[up] Character B rats Character A out to the armed people and stands around in fear while they break things looking for Character A.

Character B doesn't really care that much. He just lets Character A hide under his house when he shows up because the general area had already been searched once. When his life is directly threatened, he gets cold feet and tells the armed people everything.

Well, in that case, considering that an outhouse is a worthless hiding spot and all, either character A better get ready to cross the morality line or just accept defeat, since if the soldiers doesn't find him on the property, then they no doubt will murder Character B for the crime of "lying to them and wasting their time" instead.

Or he should just run away before the sun rises that very day instead so the soldiers doesn't get the jump on him.

Does the following count as Loophole Abuse?

One of my protagonists is under a powerful magical compulsion that prevents her from telling anyone that she is a werewolf or divulging any information about werewolf "society" to anyone who isn't a werewolf themselves.

It's a nastily thorough one too; if she tries to verbally convey the information, she loses control over her tongue and her throat closes up. If she tries to type or write it, she loses control of her hands. And in both cases her thoughts become clouded and distracted and she finds herself thinking of anything but what she wants to say.

So to let her friend know what is going on with her, she instead just lures him into an isolated area and then just strips naked and then transforms in front of him. It is awkward and then outright horrifying but it gets the job done.

I just wondered if this is an example of abusing a loophole to achieve the desired results?

Why not just infect the guy, tell everything, and then have him drink a wolfsbane-cocktail right afterwards to kill the extremely early stage of infection before it gets worse after telling them everything?

(Assuming the werewolf-disease takes a month to settle in properly, that is, as an incubation period.)

[up][up] I just wonder how a compulsion that was well thought enough to include telling and writing would have missed the action of simply showing, unless maybe the idea of doing that was unthinkable to the person who implanted it.

[up] @ Titan Jump:

It's...a little more complicated then that unfortunately, although you are right in the fact that if she infected someone, then she would be free to tell them everything.

In this story lycanthropy/werewolf-ness is infectious but only in rare cases. 9/10 werewolves are born with their condition with the 1/10 being bitten and thus infected. It does take about a month for the infected victim to transform after receiving an infectious bite, but no cure for the condition exists at any stage.

The person she wants to tell wouldn't be able to become a werewolf anyway even if she was one of the "lucky" werewolves with the ability to infect humans, since he isn't a human at all. At this point in the story he just thinks he's one.

[up][up] @ C105:

The compulsion relies on Exact Words and the person who implanted it her wasn't thinking about the exact perimeters when he did it, since he actually wasn't thinking clearly at all throughout the action.

For context, this had to be done to her because she continued to try to rebel against the secrecy that lets her pack exist in its town despite having the reasons clearly explained to her. This was a second-to-last resort to keep her in line and it was done to her by her own father who truly felt heartbroken at having to restrict his daughter's freedom like this.

[up]x6

It's the middle of the day and Character A has been in the crawlspace for about a day and doesn't have any reason to run away until the soldiers show up. At that point, just straight-up running immediately would be a very bad idea because of the vast and flat fields surrounding the house. He would be spotted and possibly shot depending on the distance, and everybody in the surrounding countryside would see where he's going.

Thanks for the ideas guys, and no worries for not being able to pitch in Sword, I get it [lol] As for your thing, Oklahoma is definitely a plausible option. It's not as barren as some other places, but it's also not exactly a bustling hotspot.

@ C105: I was thinking of the boob contact idea (as I so eloquently put it just now tongue). I'm just not sure if it'll be that easy to write about it without being too explicit; but it's definitely an option.

@ Titan: Hmmm...maybe. I'm not sure how wasted they'll be by this point, it depends on how early on this "nightclub" idea is tried. I also don't want to dip too far into cringe comedy, but I suppose either way this scene will end up being cringe comedy, so it's probably fine either way.

The bad dancing idea though...I really like that one. Since they're all walking from place to place they don't have a designated driver, but one of the boys will definitely be a lot more sober than the others and will be more likely to try and stop them given his personality. But if they start dancing like maniacs, I could even incorporate the Accidental Pervert part into it and get them kicked out, and them pull the Instant Web Hit gag as well. Best of both worlds!

Depends on what "divulging knowledge" is defined as. If the restriction is defined specifically as "you cannot tell anyone about this verbally or through writing" it works. If it's defined as "you cannot initiate actions to reveal this secret or tell anyone about this in any way, shape, or form" or the like, it gets a lot trickier.

[up] @ Altris:

Yes, the compulsion was specifically stated to not "tell anyone or write to anyone" about the information. Although...it was worded a lot less nicely than that, and in the midst of a bitter argument. It has so many holes because the bestower of the compulsion really didn't want to do it and he was angry. So reluctance and fury ensured he didn't "cover his bases" so to speak.

@Warjay 77: Maybe you could describe for example how one of the characters is "dancing" by jerking violently and waving his hands around, then have one of his hands encounter something soft, and look up at an outraged young lady. Or he manages to invite a girl to dance with him and wonders as he positions his hands in his inebriated state where a girl's hip is supposed to be, before getting pushed back forcefully or violently slapped. Nothing would have to be described explicitly, only hinted at, and the readers would still be able to understand what was going on.
