- Awesome Music: Bo Hansson's score is pretty highly regarded, and probably the most professionally made aspect of this production.
- Harsher in Hindsight: Given that J. R. R. Tolkien died in 1973, this sadly means that the only screen adaptation of The Lord of the Rings made in his lifetime was based on a translation he had personally disowned.
- Heartwarming in Hindsight: Glorfindel's inclusion probably seemed like a no-brainer at the time, but it became more significant after it turned out to be his one and only appearance in a screen version of the story.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The surreal dance of the elves brings to mind a certain scene from The Keepers, which adapts the same book. The visual similarities are almost certainly a coincidence.
- The One Ring being ridiculously oversized is reminiscent of LEGO The Lord of the Rings, and the sets which preceded it.
- It's Short, So It Sucks!: Being less than half an hour long, several plot points have been cut or heavily summarized. Not to mention that the story isn't even remotely finished by the end.
- Older Than They Think: The very existance of this production counts, as Common Knowledge held it that Gene Deitch's 1967 Hobbit short was the only filmed version of a J. R. R. Tolkien story made before the author's passing, and that Ralph Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings was the first screen adaptation of The Fellowship of the Ring.
- One-Scene Wonder: Glorfindel. A meta example. His appearance here is his only role in any screen adaptation of The Lord of the Rings.
- So Okay, It's Average: On one hand, this is actually quite a faithful adaptation... but it only covers half of The Fellowship of the Ring. On the other hand, the production values are very low, but not quite as hilariously bizarre as in something like The Keepers. As a result, the series doesn't stand out much and kinda disappears amongst its successors.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A minor example, but the series is clearly based on the translation by Ake Ohlmarks (the only Swedish one existing at the time) and some of his choices are considered controversial among the fandom, to say the least.
