YMMV / The Shivering Truth

  • Crosses the Line Twice: The man with the Twin Tower growths on his face in the 2nd episode. What makes it cross the line is that the cure for it is to make a bunch of miniature people fly into the towers and collapse them.
  • Growing the Beard: The second season made more episodes that were not just random Deranged Animation sequences and more in telling stories that make slightly more sense, usually with a theme in each episode.
  • Signature Scene: The infamous Cold Opening where a kid scratches his arms so much that they mold into a gigantic flesh cathedral — consuming himself in the process. People have compared it something Junji Ito would make. An official clip of the scene is one of the highest viewed videos on Adult Swim's channel.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Jam, a similar mesh of horror-comedy (with emphasis on horror) segments from comedian Chris Morris.
  • Squick: Some of the underwear Tessa is offered in "The Magmafying Past" includes underwear that gushes blood, underwear that births babies, and a pair that splurts out green snot all over whoever's wearing it.
  • Tear Jerker: Paulie holding a seashell up to his ear and hearing his father have an affair, shoot his mistress, and getting shot back by his near dead mistress, all while they say terrible things about Paulie. Paulie is near tears by the time blood starts pouring out of the seashell.
  • The Woobie: There are many examples throughout the series:
    • Paulie's father hates him and says horrible things about him when he thinks he can't hear him.
    • Benny's parents keep their romance alive by abusing him
