YMMV / The Mummy Demastered

  • Awesome Art: The sprite work is top-notch, nailing the gloomy atmosphere perfectly, as well as paying tribute to various classic Metroidvanias, while still having its own vibe. The bosses in particular are humongous and move extremely fluidly.
  • Awesome Music: It's a Wayforward game, what do you expect? The music here (composed by Gavin Allen, aka Monomer) is a mixture of chiptune and synth tunes, and it works excellently, fitting the atmosphere of the game perfectly.
  • Common Knowledge: It has been speculated that the reason the protagonist is a group of faceless Prodigium agents rather than Nick Morton is due to Tom Cruise's refusal to lend his likeness to video games. However the developers never planned for Nick Morton to appear in the game, as they hoped to use the same group of Prodigium agents as protagonists in future Dark Universe tie-in games, but that never came to pass.
  • Complete Monster: Princess Ahmanet, upon awakening, slaughters the entire Prodigium team that investigates supernatural activity. Draining many people of life and turning them into zombies, Ahmanet sends her monsters to kill the nameless Prodigium agent who was sent to put her down. Later on attacking the Prodigium base and unleashing a catastrophe upon the city, Ahmanet plans to spread death and destruction all over the world and, upon being defeated, summons Set to bring about the end of the world.
  • Demonic Spiders: The bats. On the whole they're a bit like the crows, but they can turn about face and come back flying at you, spit poison projectiles, and target you at your height, as opposed to straight forward fashion.
  • Goddamned Bats: The crows. In earlier parts of the game they barely fly around, and are easy targets. Later stages like the Clock Tower and the Very Definitely Final Dungeon they fly from offscreen constantly and disrupt your platforming at all times.
  • More Popular Spin-Off: The game is more well-liked than the film it was created to tie into, due to being a fun game in its own right.
  • No Problem with Licensed Games: The video game is considered to be a very competent Metroidvania, and considered better than the movie its based on, in spite of only sharing certain environments, the Prodigium, and Ahmanet.note  The fact that it was created by WayForward Technologies helps.
  • Spiritual Successor: To various classic Metroidvanias such as Super Metroid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, having similar gameplay to the former with some of the latter thrown in, And a similar atmosphere and setting to the latter.
