YMMV / Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion

Go To

  • Accidental Innuendo: The H5 is equipped with a special heating system that allows it to operate in cold weather temperatures, represented by orange Tron Lines around the torso area. Unfortunately, the glow is concentrated around the mecha's pelvis, which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't centered around the H5, the only unit whose pilot is a girl.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Miku. For a character who barely even appears in the show, she managed to not only top a character poll, but to be the first character to get an officially made figure and plushie. It helps that she is Hatsune Miku, who already has a built in fanbase coming from Vocaloid, but looking at the Shinkalion version of the character alone, she's pretty minor.
  • Just Here for Godzilla:
    • The Trope Namer himself appears in the movie in the form of Snow Godzilla and unsurprisingly, many have watched the film because of him.
    • Many Vocaloid fans have gained an interest in the show just because Hatsune Miku appears as a character in the show. Bonus points for having her fight the Trope Namer himself in the movie.
  • Periphery Demographic: For an anime aimed at young boys, the anime has become incredibly popular among all ages and genders. Ranging from train buffs to fans of Evangelion and Vocaloid due to inclusions of Eva-based colors and Miku Hatsune note  in this anime. Not to mention the guys who are Just Here for Godzilla.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • Even when taking her popularity into account, nobody had expected to see Hatsune Miku appear in the show, let alone as a main supporting character.
    • The fact that Godzilla appears in the movie as Snow Godzilla also threw many off guard.
