- Fandom-Enraging Misconception: Seriously, do not try to claim that this is a Monty Python project, even if it does contain half of the team plus Connie Booth. To say the least, it'll irritate fans of the troupe. To a lesser extent, trying to claim that this is an actual TV series instead of just a one-off special might rankle some people.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: The Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick joke comparing the Pepperpots' lack of subtlety about being irritating to "setting fire to Julie Andrews". John Cleese and Julie Andrews would later play husband and wife in Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third.
- Retroactive Recognition: Several of the female roles are played by Connie Booth who would later be best known for playing Polly Sherman in Fawlty Towers.
- Values Dissonance: Michael Palin's appearance and performance as the Indian waiter are so insensitive that even he and Graham Chapman realized at the time how inappropriate it was, and so changed it to the less offensive setting of a French restaurant when the sketch was retooled as "The Dirty Fork" for Monty Python's Flying Circus. Some modern broadcasts of the special cut the segment out entirely.
