• Die for Our Ship:
  • Hitoshi Maeda, Hina's Hopeless Suitor, gets this from fans who ship Hina/Anzu or Hina/Hitomi. It may be one of the reasons he was Adapted Out of the anime (although a more pragmatic explanation is that there just wasn't enough time to fit his chapters in).
  • Haru also gets this, as there are a few fans who aren't pleased that there's a boy among the espers. This is despite the fact that his interest in Hina is admiration for her psychic abilities at best, and he has no Ship Tease with any of the girls otherwise.
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Probably a toss up between who's more popular: Anzu or Hitomi.
• Heartwarming Moments: Anzu is a constant source of this. Her interactions with the homeless certainly top many people's heart meters.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Dear, bring me a tissue" for when anything sad happens.
  • "WATASHI NO SMARTPHONE GAA!", from the anime.
• No Yay: Some readers are split over shipping Nitta & Hitomi. While the ship sees some popularity because of Nitta being one of the few people who has the intelligence to impress Hitomi, there are still readers who feel uncomfortable with the ship because their age gap is pretty big, and Hitomi is just as old as Hina (Nitta's daughter, for reference).
• Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Masaki Tsuda ended up experiencing this. Upon his introduction, a lot of fans thought he's just too similar to Nitta and found the Running Gag of him being Mistaken for Pedophile to not be funny. When chapters rolled on and his situation was shown to be an inversion of Nitta and Hina's dynamic, as well as shows his relationship with Haru is mutually manipulative, people started to ease up on him. It also helps that Tsuda doesn't show up much after his focus chapters.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Ikuruga Kei; most assumed she was a man and even after being referred to as a woman several times a lot of fans still thought she might be a man. Not so much after the time-skip since she has three kids with a fourth on the way.
