YMMV / Flint the Time Detective

Go To

  • Angst? What Angst?: Rocky's life has been a veritable conga line of Nightmare Fuel, but you'd never know it by speaking to him.
  • Best Known for the Fanservice: Episode 21 is perhaps the most well known episode of the series for a… certain reason. The notoriety of this episode is likely what has kept the series from being totally forgotten.
  • Broken Aesop: The Time Police work under very specific guidelines — recover all the Time Shifters, no exceptions, and never disrupt the fabric of time. But reanimating two cavemen in the modern era? Allowing Bindi and Get-a-Long to roam free? No problems there (although considering that they didn't actually time-travelled to modern era, but rather being fossilized in the past and re-fossilized in future, they may simply be out of Time Police jurisdiction). It should be noted, though, that with Petra on the loose they needed those cavemen to help with the first directive of recovering all the Time Shifters...although that still doesn't explain the Bindi and Get-a-Long part.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Merlock. In fact, there is more artwork of him (as well being shipped with Sara) than any other character in the series, and that says a lot for an underrated series like this one.
  • Gag Dub: While the show had its comedic elements, the german dub in particular took the script, took a big, hard look and decided to turn the silliness switch up a few notches. From slang-level swears, pop-culture references and bad puns, to jokes about silicon-implants and lampshading of pretty much every single trope in the show, all delivered with actual sincerity. There is barely a single line in the entire show that is not going out of its way to actively tell the audience "We do not take this seriously and neither should you.". It is pretty much the german equivalent to the infamous Ghost Stories dub.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • A time-travel themed show aired at the shift of the milleniums featuring evil monsters that predominantly finished their names with the -con suffix? Apparently it wasn't the only one.
    • Digimon Adventure 02 fans may let out a chuckle (or a groan) with a character named Sora Yamato. Voiced by Yolei no less.
  • Retroactive Recognition: This was the anime where Nana Mizuki made her debut.
