- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The Klingons, who show up without warning in a video about how Digital Piracy Is Evil, and later awkwardly dance with DP during a scene that otherwise references the development of video games like Doom³. They might be a Shallow Parody reference to Star Trek (2009), which came out the same year (and which Klingons do not appear in), but it's not made clear.
- Sequelitis: The original PSA, however you feel about its message, is generally regarded as So Bad, It's Good. Don't Copy That 2, on the other hand, is universally seen as worse than the original, largely due to going from a moral and generally non-confrontational tone, to pure scaremongering.
- Special Effect Failure: You can easily tell whenever an image is superimposed on another screen, particularly during scenes with Jason and his computer, as the startup screen to "Jason's Lair" cuts off his shadow.
- Unintentional Period Piece: Much like how the original is emblematic of early '90s kitsch, Don't Copy That 2 is clearly a product of the mid-2000s, with its moody, Darker and Edgier presentation and Scare 'Em Straight message. Of particular note is the interview segment, which directly references the development of Doom³ (released in 2004).
