What An Idiot / Hell's Kitchen Roleplay

Go To

The roleplay has had a lot of small-to-medium screw-ups each episode, but some moments of idiocy stand out:

Season 1

  • One service saw Flynn get a bit confused on the orders, more specifically, the carbonara.
You'd Expect: Flynn to remember that carbonara came off the apps station.
Instead: Flynn asks, in all seriousness, "Is Carbonara On Fish?"
As A Result: Flynn, in addition to his poor performance that night, winds up getting the boot.

Season 4 (All-Stars)

  • Before service, Droidette is messing around in the dorms.
You'd Expect: Droidette to not do anything stupid.
Instead: Droidette tells everyone she can catch a bowling ball with her head.
Naturally: Droidette injures herself, and has to get medically evacuated from the competition.

Season 5

  • Episode 3 had Quandale mess up several times cooking scallops on the fish station, and Ayumu come over to try and help him out.
You'd Expect: Quandale to allow Ayumu to help him out. Sure, it wouldn't look good on him, but at least maybe by the time the order was done, he could bounce back. Plus, he had gotten nominated previously for not being able to accept help, only barely surviving over S.
Instead: Hoo boy. First, Quandale forces Ayumu off the station, nearly pushing him off even. Then when Jamal tried to call him out for this, he got into an argument with him that slowed down the kitchen. Then when he inevitably incurred the wrath of Ramsay, he mouthed off to him, and even went as far to threaten his kids and slap him.
As A Result: Quandale was ejected from service, and pretty much cemented himself as one of the most hated characters in the roleplay's history.

Season 6

  • Episode 3 had Ashley be called upon for the nominees.
You'd Expect: Ashley to nominate both herself and April. April messed up on the garnish station, and Ashley herself was easily one of the weaker chefs in the competition, alongside one of the dumbest.
Instead: Ashley, in all seriousness, elects to nominate Abigail, who had just been ejected for having the equivalent of a Rage Quit.
As A Result: Ashley is called up anyways, and the team are even more convinced that Ashley's a lost cause, especially now since Abigail was gone.

Season 7

  • Episode 7 had the craps challenge, and on Tommy's turn, he rolled J.
You'd Expect: Tommy to pick a reasonable ingredient, like jalapeno or jackfruit.
Instead: Tommy picks jelly of all things.
As A Result: The blue team cannot find a way to incorporate the jelly into their dish without ruining it, and the puree they decide to go with is downright awful and gives the red team the win.
  • After the blue team lost the challenge, Rohan was about to use the punishment pass. Throughout the season, Rohan had been silently picking apart at the red team by going after their flaws, one example of which culminated in Harper's elimination.
You'd Expect: Rohan to use the pass on someone completely random, and stop the manipulations when he could. He was there to win, and Ramsay would absolutely not appreciate a chef who was well known for lying in a competition where gaining respect from your team is a critical necessity.
You'd Also Expect: If he really needed to pick at the chefs with bad attitudes, then target someone who no one would have a problem with eliminating, like Paula or Mai. In doing so, he could use the opportunity to gain intel on other chefs that could be a threat, like Heather.
Instead: Rohan uses his pass on Georgie, on her birthday nonetheless, while the red team is fully aware of her crush on him.
As A Result: While Georgie is eliminated that episode, Rohan's scummy nature is revealed to the red team.
You'd Then Expect: Rohan to lay low for a while. Afterall, he just pulled a move that could be seen as extremely cruel, and now was not the time for him to be making enemies.
Instead: He continues his manipulations, getting Ben sent up instead of him in the ninth episode, and getting Richard eliminated by getting him to break up the alliance with Paula.
As A Result: He loses all the respect he had with DJ and his team as a whole, and he winds up being eliminated for his spiral and lost respect.
  • Throughout the season, Ben had been getting put up for nomination for issues such as attitude problems and communication issues.
You'd Expect: Ben to make a genuine effort in trying to improve himself, such as communicating well with his team, as well as being able to be worked with without having to deal with attitude.
Instead: While he does improve in his communication, Ben more or less doubles down on his attitude, letting much of Ramsay's praise get to his head and causing him to believe he's genuinely the best chef on the team despite DJ existing.
As A Result: Ben just gets even more hated by his team, and at the final ten, Rohan is able to easily convince the blue team to put up Ben despite him doing nothing wrong tonight. This leads to Ben having his own Rage Breaking Point and pretty much swearing off the team.
Fortunately: DJ is able to get through to him after Rohan's manipulations go too far, and Ben is able to come back around and place third in the end.
  • After the wedding service, Gina is called upon to reveal the nominees, and she selects Richard for getting kicked out of the kitchen, and Donna for some reason despite Paula having a massive struggle on apps. Ramsay would then ask her as to why Donna was nominated.
You'd Expect: Her to say that she nominated Donna because she wasn't the most consistent overall, and was extremely emotional after her poor performance in the wedding planning challenge, causing some bad vibes among the red team. Sure, Paula would be a better choice, but at least Gina would have a fairly sound argument.
Instead: She admits it's because she forgot Paula was there.
As A Result: Ramsay is obviously not impressed, voids Donna's nomination and calls up Paula, who only survives because Keith crashed on the fish station.
Bonus Points: Rohan took notice of this, and used this moment to convince Richard to break up the alliance he had with Paula as Paula was more than likely using him to get further, causing Richard to crash and get eliminated.
Extra Bonus Points: Richard's ensuring elimination resulted in Paula having no allies and leaving her vulnerable to Rohan's manipulations, which eventually happened at the final eight and led to her elimination right before the black jackets. That meant that if Gina hadn't made that massive blunder, then it's possible that Richard and Paula could've gotten further.
  • The very next episode, Richard is confronted by Rohan, saying to break up the alliance between himself and Paula, bringing up the previous ceremony as a time Paula dodged elimination.
You Would Expect: Richard to be at least somewhat skeptical of Rohan. Sure, he may have had good points, but seeing as Rohan was responsible for eliminating Georgie, Richard should at least be a little bit wary of him. If he's not entirely sure, then he could ask Donna about it, someone else who's in an alliance with him.
Instead: Richard completely agrees and breaks off the alliance with Paula.
As A Result: Richard has no one to back him up when he inevitably crashes that night, causing his elimination.
  • Tommy later on would manage to finally have a serviceable charity night, and finally emerge as a potential winner pick.
You'd Expect: Tommy to not let any sort of ego go to his head. He still has a fair amount of ground to make up if he wanted to compete with the likes of DJ and Heather, and later on that night, Rohan was eliminated for burning his bridges with all his manipulations and ego.
Instead: Tommy gets extremely pompous about his strong performance, believing himself to be way better than he actually is.
As A Result: Tommy starts to severely crash, with him barely making it into the black jackets over Paula, before finally being ejected one episode later.

Season 8

  • During charity service, Scott had to delegate his team to send out squid ink risotto with king crab. Some chefs had to work on the risotto, while some had to make the crab for the charity.
You'd Expect: Scott to have two chefs work on the crab while he and another chef worked on the risotto. It would put him in a strong leadership position, and also allow the workload to be laid out evenly.
Instead: Scott works on the risotto with Morgana and Victor, leaving Frankie to have to make all the crab for the charity.
As A Result: Gordon then points out how dumb of an idea this is, saying that now the risotto won't have a consistency due to three people working on it, and Frankie snarks at Scott's move.
You'd Then Expect: Scott to put Morgana on the same station as Frankie. The two are shown to be a strong link together, and it would show that Scott is able to make a smart decision and that initial spot was just heat of the moment.
You'd Also Expect: Scott to put Victor on the same station as Frankie. Victor was just coming off a strong charity service, and he's shown himself to be a strong cook on the line.
Instead: Scott puts himself on the fish station despite the risotto taking longer.
As A Result: Morgana winds up leading on his course due to Scott putting himself in a position that's much more difficult to lead in, Frankie again snarks about how dumb of an idea that is, and this decision only contributes to Scott's elimination that night.
  • Later that same episode, Morgana is called on to present the nominees, those being herself and Scott, however, she's nervous about being nominated for the second time in a row.
You'd Expect: Morgana to stick with the nominees. Sure, she would be nominated as a result, but she only really dragged a bit compared to Scott who made several terrible decisions on his course.
Instead: Morgana picks Frankie of all chefs, who probably had the best charity service that night, claiming it was because of an ego he had.
As A Result: While Ramsay accepts the nominees, Ramsay allows Frankie to deliver a blistering "The Reason You Suck" Speech at both Morgana and Scott (the latter was the primary accuser of Frankie having an ego), and after he's done, Ramsay sends Frankie right back in line, leaving Morgana guilty about sending up her friend.
Fortunately: The two are able to talk things out, and by the next episode, they're on better terms.
  • A pretty shocking moment happened as a result of this during the final five episode. Victor is selected to be the acting Sous Chef, and has recently been getting into arguments with Frankie.
You'd Expect: Victor to put the rivalry behind him in the kitchen. Right now he's proven himself to be a relatively solid leader, and while he may be on a bit of a decline, it doesn't mean he's out just yet.
Instead: Victor starts to overly analyze anything that Frankie puts up, wanting to catch him in the act and completely letting anything sent up by the other competitors go by.
As A Result: Victor inevitably misses something that didn't belong to Frankie, and after a poor performance on the fish station, Victor straight-up rage quits the competition.

Season 9

  • Sean Hicki was a chef on Season 9. He was a very hungry chef.
First: He was criticized by Chef Ramsay for eating his signature dish, which nearly led to a premature elimination.
Next: He would continue eating during the first dinner service, getting him sent up to the dorms. However, he did not go home opening night thanks in part to John's shocking departure.
Episode 7: After bringing up a raw filet, Sean ended up eating it while Ronnie assisted him on the meat station.
CFYL: While he didn't actually eat the dish he used for the Cook For Your Life Challenge, he was upset that Chef Ramsay was the one who ate it instead, as Sean wanted to enjoy his dish himself. It ended up being a great dish, and ended up saving his life in the competition as the second chef to survive the challenge that season.
Episode 9: After under-portioning garnish, Chef Ramsay learned that Sean had chosen to eat about half of his garnish. This event would culminate in his elimination in a surprisingly high 10th place.

Amateurs Season 1

  • Throughout the season, Charles had taken notice that the red team (namely Isabel and Mary), have been trying to hookup Malcolm and Heather. He wasn't a big fan of it as he felt that Malcolm needed to focus, and wanted to tell them to knock it off.
You'd Expect: Charles to actually ignore it. Malcolm was easily one of the strongest chefs on the blue team right now, and sure, while it may not be great in the short term due to them being in the team phase, if Malcolm gets distracted, then he'll have a better chance of winning. Plus, the two did like each other, so it only would be more helpful for him to leave them be.
You'd Also Expect: If Charles really had to address this now, then he'd wait for an opportune time, like before service when both teams were prepping for service.
Instead: He decides to ditch the blue team during their punishment to go up to the red team (on their reward), to try and dissuade them.
As A Result: Charles is caught by the sous chef, and as punishment for skipping out, the entire blue team is forced to do more work by shoveling snow, making Malcolm even more annoyed at Charles.
Even Worse: When the blue team lose service and Charles' actions get back to Ramsay, Ramsay elects to nominate Charles, although he survives elimination thanks to Korekiyo running out of chances.

Amateurs Season 2

  • In Episode 4, the Blue Team loses, and both Edd and Altair are nominated, the former for doing nothing and the latter for his mistakes on fish. Chef Ramsay eventually asks them if they are better than each other, and Altair answers that he is better than Edd.
You'd Expect: For Edd to do the same, since Edd had just admitted beforehand that he's felt like the Butt-Monkey since day one, and wants to change that.
Instead: He states that he's weaker than Altair, much to Ramsay's confusion. However, Ramsay gives him another chance by asking if there's anyone in the team he's better than.
You'd Then Expect: For Edd to say he's stronger than at least Rodrigo, who's at least pretty hit or miss in service.
Instead: He hesitates... and then says "I don’t think so chef.".
As A Result: Chef Ramsay immediately eliminates Edd, saying he that he can't give a restaurant to someone who doesn't believe in themselves.
  • Episode 6 had Ramsay leave the blue kitchen to check on the red team, leaving Sous Chef Heather in charge.
You'd Expect: The blue team do not treat the change like a big deal, especially as Sous Chef Heather is a former winner, and has been established as one of the best leaders in the series, so they know she can run the kitchen even for a little bit.
Instead: Elizabeth, in an attempt to rebound from her early mistake with scallops, decides to show off her leadership skills and tries to call out orders. Heather gets absolutely furious with her, and firmly puts her in her place and tells her to never do that again.
Even Worse: Elizabeth is so frazzled by the chewing out that she becomes completely flustered on the fish station, forcing Altair to step in and try and help her out. It's not enough, and the blue team are kicked out of service.
As A Result: Elizabeth isn't even given a chance to have a plea before Ramsay eliminates her.
  • In the 7th episode, Hell's Kitchen hosted a celebration party, and Ramsay called Lucy and Sebastian to his office to hear the party committee's wants for the menu. One of the requests was that they don't serve the guest of honor shellfish, as he's allergic to it.
You'd Expect: The two chefs would listen very carefully to the committee's preferences and relay this information with their team.
Instead: While both Lucy and Sebastian do so, Rodrigo decides to not listen and ends up serving a lobster dish, with Sebastian being unable to check it due to having to deal with Altair.
Even Worse: Upon being called out for this, Rodrigo tries to blame Sebastian for not telling him, even though Sebastian gave him clear instructions.
Naturally: The blue team lose the challenge, and Sebastian is furious at his team.
  • Later in the same episode, Bruno had gotten chewed out by Ramsay for arguing with him, and was warned to not do that again.
You'd Expect: Bruno to not try that again. He's seen first-hand how Ramsay will not keep around chefs that have awful attitude problems (such as Mitch), and considering how he's on the same team with the far stronger Tori and Lucy, meaning that Ramsay would have less of a reason to keep him around, especially since he could easily switch over Sebastian.
Instead: Bruno makes things worse by telling Sous Chef Heather to shut up after she laughs at something Tori says.
As A Result: Oh boy, Heather gets furious with him. She calls him out for being incredibly disrespectful, and says that his attitude is why his team didn't want him around. She then kicks Bruno out of the kitchen, and he winds up being nominated that night as a result.
Fortunately: He survives elimination, but not before Ramsay tells him he's running out of time to improve.
  • In the ninth episode, the chefs had an hour to make an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert by going into a grocery store.
You'd Expect: Each chef to make the most out of their time, getting a solid amount of ingredients.
Instead: Rodrigo decides to do a simple brownie with caramel sauce.
As A Result: Ramsay is very unimpressed, and alongside Altair failing to score on the appetizer round, this results in the blue team losing again.
