THE BOILED ONE PHENOMENON is an Analog Horror series created by Silas Orion on YouTube

The Boiled One Phenomenon documents a hijacked broadcast channel made by a mysterious organization called Ephrata-228, discussing a disturbing interruption that has disastrous consequences.

The first video was released in March, 2024, with confirmation that more installments will come in the future.

Tropes featured in THE BOILED ONE PHENOMENON include:

• 13 Is Unlucky: The Boiled One first manifested on the 13th of August, 2003 through the 13th episode of a children's nature documentary.

• And I Must Scream: The victims of The Boiled One’s influence are subjected to this, being completely paralyzed and forced to witness, and hear, The Boiled One’s appearance and torture.
  • The kicker? The Boiled One's victims were afflicted with pseudocoma (or Locked-in syndrome), a real medical condition with many non-anomalous causes.

• Benevolent Conspiracy: The Ephrata Branch is the closest thing to a Big Good in the video, trying to stop The Boiled One’s influence any further.

• Big Bad: The Boiled One Itself, aka PHEN-228, a mysterious entity from a hijacked television program which affected almost hundreds.

• Body Horror: The Boiled One itself is a disturbing red amalgamation with a horrific open face and red skin.

• Central Theme: According to the creator, human perseverance and faith even in the bleakest of situations will get people through anything.

• Digital Abomination: The closest thing to what The Boiled One is, a sadistic entity who hijacked a broadcasting television network.

• Do Not Adjust Your Set: The Boiled One hijacked a nature documentary in 2003, managing to infect almost a hundred people with pseudocoma before psychologically torturing them for years.

• Expy: The Ephrata Branch, with its purpose of maintaining and protecting normality, naming of anomalies, and methods of containment, which often involve nationwide operations such as switching off a portion of a nation's power grid and covering it up successfully, may bring to mind the SCP Foundation.

• Faux Affably Evil: PHEN-228 speaks in an eloquent, calm, even, and soft tone while it details the hellish fate its viewers will be put in and that it will always watch them.

• Mind Rape: People who are infected by PHEN-228 are subjected to this, being completely paralyzed and forced to bare witness to The Boiled One’s torture.

• Religious Horror: The video has shades of this, before being completely dived in at the end as PHEN-228 begins spouting off about the end times as religious trumpets play in the background.

• Sociopathic Soldier: The identity of The Boiled One is Mutsuhiro “The Bird” Watanabe, a POW camp runner and war criminal during World War 2.

• The End of the World as We Know It: The ending of the video has PHEN-228 declare this:

“ Listen closely. Do you hear it? You will hear the laughter of thousands as the sky opens up. You will hear the trumpets play their happy sounds. The scalding blood of life will pour down onto us all. Together, we will be still. Together, a feast fit for a king. Together, welded by love and purest connection. Be still and feast-”

• Uncertain Doom: As it is implied that Job Zamperini is actually Louis Zamperini (who in real life had televised appearances past 2003 until dying in 2014), it remains to be seen if he actually recovered from PHEN-228's influence or his condition was covered up.

• Was Once a Man/Demon of Human Origin: As confirmed by Word of God, PHEN-228 was a human once, being Mutsuhiro “The Bird” Watanabe, a former POW camp soldier and war criminal.

• Would Harm a Senior: PHEN-228’s main victim, Job Zamperini, an elderly POW camp survivor who is now being tortured by the abomination. Even worse is that Zamperini is heavily implied to be Louis Zamperini which, combined with PHEN-228's original identity, means he is being tortured by his captor once more.
