Bad (stylized BAD.) is a six-part series created by Luigi Yoshi Shell, essentially where he reviews things that are bad. Usually, these are Nintendo products, which is on-brand for the creator. The series finale came out March 8, 2021, with Matthew saying he may do a second season, but as of 2023, no second season has aired.
Not to be confused with the Michael Jackson album of the same name.
You can watch it here.
This series provides examples of:
- Adaptation Deviation: Matthew states this as one of the reasons Captain N: The Game Master is, of course, bad.
- Angrish: Matthew half devolves into this when reviewing Donkey Kong Country. The show, not the game.
- Caustic Critic: Because of the negative nature of the series, Matthew can feel a little like this sometimes.
- Cold Open: A few videos start with skits that serve as these.
- Matthew starts off his Hotel Mario video with a skit set inside the hotel.
- Matthew starts off his Pepsi Man video by finding him in his closet.
- Curse Cut Short:Matthew: In 2017, we got one of the best Nintendo consoles, and definitely my favorite one. In 2019, we got this piece of--!
- Demographically Inappropriate Humor: Matthew, who is a kid and makes content for kids, references Luigi doing drugs in one video.
- Department of Redundancy Department:Matthew: This show is the definition of bad. It is so bad, in fact, it's badder than bad. It's badder than bad bad bad. It's bad, bad, and bad. Bad.
- Jump Scare: Matthew finding Pepsi Man in his closet is played as one.
- The One Thing I Don't Hate About You: While Matthew hates Hotel Mario with a burning passion, he admits the music is good.
- Shout-Out: A few.
- Matthew refers to Sammy Classic Sonic Fan.
- He also references JoJo's Bizarre Adventure with the "We'll Be Right Back / To Be Continued" meme.
- He plays Subway Surfers music over Pepsi Man gameplay and calls Pepsi Man "Subway Surfers with a Pepsi logo slapped onto it".
- Stylistic Suck: The theme to the first episode is intentionally ear-grating.
- Take That!: Basically the crux of the series. He reviews things he deems bad.
- What It Says On The Tin: The title is Bad, and he reviews things that are bad.
It's bad, bad, and bad. Bad.
